F8: DApps and Integrations
Campaign Brief
Cardano is an ecosystem that sets itself apart through its rigorous research and strives to do things correctly. We expect all dApp projects applying for funding to aspire to the highest possible levels of certification. This challenge is suitable for incorporated technology or blockchain companies and larger projects with competent teams that already have deployed MVPs. Ideally, these are projects that have a proven user base. Projects that satisfy such criteria are welcome to apply for more than $100,000 if that can be justified and clearly budgeted for.
For smaller teams (4-5 people) with proven competence, relevant experience and technical skills with sketches/whitepaper detailing how they would go about to launch their proposal, the budgets would typically be in the range $40,000-$80,000.
For people with the relevant background but without a full team or completed whitepaper detailing the solution, the project ought to be considered as a research stage project and budgets should less than $10,000.
Guiding questions
- What are the key applications that underpin the application ecosystem on other platforms?
- What are the most profitable or most used applications on other ecosystems?
- What needs do users of Cardano have that could be solved by new applications?
- What applications deliver the highest amount of value with the least amount of technical sophistication?
Potential directions
- Swaps, both simple and fancy variants (multi-party etc.)
- Escrow, both simple and fancy variants
- Integrations with existing products
- NFT marketplace or facilitator
- Solutions utilising the power of smart contracts
Why is it important?
Quality Dapps and integrations will increase utility & adoption of Cardano. A broad funding challenge like this encourages more proposals.
What does success look like?
Novel and viable applications get built of top of Cardano attracting users. Integrations manage to pull in more adoption.
Key Metrics to measure
To assess the challenge we will be asking ourselves: Did our efforts manage to attract users to the platform? Did our efforts result in new, viable applications built on top of Cardano?
Let an "application output" and an "application transaction" be an output and transactions that use the applications' script addresses, and an "application token" be a token that's issued by the application.
Win-Win Platform Auditing
Solution: Get an expert 3rd party to audit the smart contracts of the Win-Win platform.
Wildlife Conservation Pool DApp
Solution: Build an in-house platform, with NFT integration, which enables users to support wildlife and climate conservation through a DeFi protocol.
Watts->Social network of Trust MVP
Solution: By building a second layer solution we enable a decentralized knowledge of trust (and semantic data) for SSI, Wallet and Dapp solutions.
Urban Farmer dApp
Solution: Develop a dApp that helps micro urban farms to operate and expand, while making it easy for community members to order produce from them.
Universal Basic Income DAO
Solution: Spin up a DAO to work in parallel to our legacy non-profit, systematically rolling out living wages to people on-chain.
Ubuntu - One Small Town Ecosystem
Solution: To partner with One Small Town is to open Cardano's network to many communities, from more than 140 countries across all continents.
Uber of 3D Printing Manufacturing
Solution: Create new economic opportunity by deploying open p2p marketplace (Uber of 3D printing) to enable monetization of 3d designs and print jobs.
Token Staking Platform
Solution: It will: Indicate appropriate tokens are stakedconfigurable staking return rulesCalculate eligibilityend user can claim their rewards
Thrift Mobile
Solution: Develop user-friendly financial intelligence mobile wallet to drive Cardano adoption through savings & open decentralized finance.
TheGraph in Milkomeda
Solution: We will deploy an instance of TheGraph to Milkomeda which will act as an indexing protocol for querying networks like Milkomeda and IPFS
Tangopay (Merchant Payments)
Solution: Tangopay makes it easier than ever to accept payments in Ada in a peer to peer fashion from anywhere at any time.
Sustainable Apparel Trace demo
Solution: We will try to make full hystory of Apparel (source of Clothes) with compony. Which can be good demonstration for SDGs traceability.
StreamCardano: serverless infra
Solution: Serverless software-as-a-service for building dApps as pure frontends+smart contracts. Decreases the cost of entry and maintenance.
STOR Token White Paper
Solution: STOR Token is a lending defi platform that allows buyers of self-storage facilities and developers to borrow money to fund these projects.
StakingDAO: Supporting Small Pools
Solution: Build a DAO that will enable a user to auto-delegate to sustainable, bare metal or single pools, with the DAO balancing delegation across SP
smART Mint: DIY evolving NFTs
Solution: Create a user-friendly programmable NFT minter that requires no prior knowledge about the blockchain or programming.
Shimmy - Safe, Purposeful Social
Solution: Decentralised, cause-driven, safer social media. Exposing the audience to truer, purposeful use cases bringing positive social change.
shac.ai - Shared Housing & Cardano
Solution: Shac.ai - a shared housing dapp that circumvents ineffective middlemen.
Self-Sovereign Health Records
Solution: Securely store health records on your phone, check-in to a new healthcare provider using a QR code. Get paid in ADA for (approved) data use.
Self-hosted pricefeed for wallets
Solution: We will deploy an Oura source+sink that parses on-chain dApp data to provide an open-source self-hosted price feed that wallets can use
Rythmeet:P2P music network platform
Solution: Creating the most complete music platform for musicians where they can network, find instruments, receive scholarships, discover Cardano
Reward creators for feed activity
Solution: If the audience rewards the creator using his feed activity as a reference, it supports the creator's freedom of expression.
Revelar Game Engine - Operations
Solution: This proposal aims to enable the required budget to reward Revelar core contributors, expand current capacity and services over 6 months.
Research Guild: DApp Snapshot
Solution: The Research Guild will deliver a market research report to investigate gaps and opportunities for DApp development on Cardano.
