Solution

We've built a plugin for WordPress called CardanoPress. It removes technical knowledge needed for APIs, Cardano wallet integrations, and transaction writing allowing anyone to develop a Cardano DApp.

Problem:

To build with an API such as Blockfrost, you need to understand frontend development, REST APIs, Cardano transactions and more technical web development capabilities. This is a barrier to adoption.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

The core CardanoPress plugin is still in BETA. Many projects are using it successfully, but we need more development to complete the core plugin and bring it to a stable version.

Improving its installation process, admin interface, and error handling for the builder and end-users will help immensely with adopting the plugin.

Projects choosing to build on Cardano for their NFT collection, NFT minting, self Governance, ISPOs, stake pools or online e-commerce sites will be able to install the plugin, configure it to Blockfrost and be integrated with a wallet DApp connector within minutes.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

CardanoPress relies 100% on the Blockfrost API.

Every project that uses and implements the CardanoPress plugin on its website must sign up to Blockfrost to use it.

More projects choosing Cardano and CardanoPress will mean more sign-ups and usage of the Blockfrost API.

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

There is little risk in delivering the final stable version of the CardanoPress plugin.

The main risk we have, which is out of our control, is submitting to the WordPress Plugin directory. Since this is a third-party controlled platform and we have no control over accepting our plugin to the directory, it is essentially out of our hands.

To help mitigate this, we have reached out and made connections with key people in the WordPress community that can help us get the plugin over the line and accepted into the directory for mass adoption.

The other risk for our plugin is the Blockfrost API platform stopping us and other projects from using it within our plugin. To mitigate this, we'll connect with the team to see what issues may arise from our plugin using the Blockfrost API.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

Phase 1 - Gathering Feedback & User Testing

2 Weeks: Time for users to test and provide the team with feedback for the Core CardanoPress plugin.

Phase 2 - Creating Use Cases and Testing Scenarios

1 Week: Based on the feedback, the team will organise and priorities the required development and scenarios to deliver the final stable version.

Phase 3 - Develop Against Use Cases and Scenarios

2 Weeks: Allocated development time for the use cases defined in phase 2.

Phase 4 - Test Against and Gather Feedback

1 Week: Test the new code base against the use cases and scenarios defined in phase 2.

Phase 5 - Submit the final stable version 1.0.0 of the plugin to the WordPress plugin directory

2-3 Week: Submission of the plugin to the WordPress plugin directory as stable version 1. Allowing the WordPress editorial and plugin teams to review the plugin and allow for its acceptance on the official plugin directory.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

The team's hourly rate is $150 an hour.

Use testing: 16 hours $2400

Development: 40 hours $6000

UI/UX design: 16 hours $2400

Administration: 8 hours $1200

Total budget breakdown: $12000

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

Peter Bui - Project owner and creator

Gene Torcende - WordPress & API Developer

Martina Kocian - UI/UX Designer

Karlo Ilanos - WordPress Developer & Frontend Developer

We have worked as a core team at PB Web Development for over 6 years.

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

If we are funded, we will return for additional funding in the future.

As of now, the project isn't fully monetised, and we have no way of sustaining the development of the core product.

As Cardano evolves and more projects and ideas come to market, we will need to continuously develop and grow core CardanoPress to cater to market needs.

We will come back with new proposals as market conditions warrant.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

The final goal of having the stable version, v1.0.0, will be the final goal for the proposal.

Progressive milestones can be measured as we progress through the stages to reach the final stable version of the plugin.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

The project's success will see more users and projects install and use the CardanoPress plugin to power and launch their websites. It will lead to more users using Blockfrost to communicate to the Cardano blockchain.

In the long term, we'd love to see a thriving ecosystem around the plugin where other WordPress and development agencies start using the plugin to create solutions for their clients.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is an entirely new project and proposal not relating to any in a previous Fund.

Monthly Reports

Over the last two months we have been working to finalise the stable release of the plugin and get it listed on the WordPress plugin directory. This is the main goal of the project and we are part of the way through the process of the audit and vetting with the WordPress team.

It has been submitted back to the WP team and we are waiting on a response.
