解决方案

DAOJob是一个DAO原生的任务和招聘会,与Web2分销渠道无缝整合。

Problem

There is a lack of effective tooling and channels to manage and advertise DAO-related jobs. This is particularly relevant as DAOs leave their niche existence and new talent (also with non-tech backgrounds) needs to be acquired. DAOs therefore currently resort to non-optimized pre-existing solutions, e.g., exploiting the functionality of technical bounty boards (seen at Bankless) or navigating open application processes via Discourse, manually linking application threads to niche job boards (seen at Idle.Finance). This inevitably leads to high transfer efforts and insufficient quality of the results.

Solution

DAOJob is an easy-to use tool to collaboratively create job ads that meet the specific needs of DAOs, such as adjustable timeframes (from bite-sized tasks and time-limited roles to open-ended job profiles), as well as DAO-specific governance (e.g. votings) and compensation schemes e.g. (token rewards). Job ads are connected to a high-quality distribution list, which matches ads with best-suited distribution channels, e.g. temporary jobs with design focus are matched with reviewed freelancer portals in this space.

With the completion of this Proof-of-Concept (PoC), the first technical functionalities for DAO-optimized job ad creation and distribution (Product Version 1) have been validated, laying the foundation for further development (MVP) & fundraising from Web3-focused venture funds and business angels (e.g. 1kx or Blueyard Capital).

Advantages for Cardano

Being part of DAOJob enables Cardano to be integrated into the DAO HR landscape down the road (e.g. payments for jobs and 3rd party distributors as well as reward infrastructure for referrals and contributors). Currently, there are hardly any DAO tools that have or plan to have Cardano integration. Hence, early project acceleration is key to breaking this cycle.

If Catalyst funds the DAOJob PoC, the project team agrees to put Cardano at the forefront of the integration roadmap. This will not only help expand Cardano's overall engagement in the DAO ecosystem but also give Cardano direct access to powerful HR tolling for its own operations.

Roadmap / Outlook

From a technical and business perspective, DAOJob offers high scalability potential that goes far beyond job postings. Within 12 months (post-award), the following developments are foreseen:

MONTH 6 (MVP / Ecosystem Building)

Early demonstration of Frontend / Backend functionality incl. payment & compensation infrastructure on Cardano Bold branding that stands for novelty in the growing HR-tooling market (incl. design system/logo/narrative) Ecosystem Engagement (Telegram, Discord, Twitter)

MONTH 9 (Closed Beta)

Go-to-market with selected partners Start of DAO Ambassador program to encourage community contribution

MONTH 12 (Full Launch)

Implementation of fully automated job ad dispatch via APIs (e.g. Stepstone) Integration with 3rd party DAO Tools (e.g. Dispute Solutions, Proposal mgmt.) Integration of Task Management tool, for example OKRs-derived tasks

Budget allocation for PoC (3 months)

~80% of the funding to be requested will be used to provide stipends for the involved personnel for their execution on the proposal. The core team is composed of 2 members with capability in R&D and decentralized project/product management. Validation of the tech stack and any design support will be sought with additional experts. The remaining ~20% of the budget will be used to cover expenses in relation to user research (e.g. rewards for participants) and administrative expenses (e.g. Notion Subscription and Domain acquisition).

The budget for the proof-of-concept (3 months) is allocated as follows:

R&D: $7,500 ($2,500/month x 3 months) Project/Product Management: $7,500 ($2,500/month x 3 months) Technical Architecture: $5,000 ($2,500/ month x 2 months) User Research / UX (fees & rewards): $4,000 Admin expenses: $500

TOTAL: $24,500

The Catalyst Fund7 budget has been intentionally kept as lean as possible so as to maximize reaching the first milestones within the constraints of the Catalyst program. Continuing the project beyond this stage will require further funds to be requested, which can be requested from future Catalyst rounds and other sources (as noted earlier in this proposal).

Definition of success

Success is achieved when by using DAOJob the overall quality of applications has improved and the effort to do so is more efficient. And since HR is the engine of any DAO, further success is generated by the increased number of engaged members in the DAO ecosystem at large, which is especially relevant with regard to Ambassador recruiting. (Roadmap for 3, 6, 9, & 12 month timeframes is above.)

Respective anticipated improvements from using DAOJob (post-launch) are:

Increase in the reach and quality of job applications; Increase in the overall contribution rate (paid & non-paid) of a DAO; Reduction in the time needed to create and manage jobs (relatedly, HR managers currently spend 50% on repetitive tasks, a recent survey found); Boost of internal collaboration on job creation & management

Relevant KPI's/metrics include:

Number of applications (reach), also in relation to applications considered (quality); Amount of DAO contributors working on jobs/tasks (paid & non-paid); Amount of collaborators within DAOs identifying, editing and voting on job ads, as well as application selection processes; Measured average time from the point of identifying a new job to fill the position

Success with respect to the Cardano ecosystem is envisioned as follows:

DAOJob is a first-ever HR DAO toolkit, running on Cardano blockchain (MVP at 6 months) DAOJob has attracted >10 DAOs using Cardano as a governance/management chain within 6 months.

Risk analysis and mitigation

Risk (1): Immediate hiring need. Our team is actively recruiting a technical consultant for this proposal's scope of work. Kathleen Olstedt currently serves as one of the Governors of H.E.R. DAO, a womxn-focused developer DAO in the making. Here she is in regular exchange with suitable intrinsically motivated talents. Gabriel Axel Montes is well-positioned in the SingularityNET ecosystem and community of technical talent and would be able to help source the needed talent. He is also in regular direct contact with internal SingularityNET staff, including its blockchain team and its project/spinoff, SingularityDAO, so there is ample blockchain and DAO expertise to leverage. (SingularityNET's blockchain will run on Cardano upon completion of its ERC-20 converter.)

Risk (2): Need for DAO pilot partners. To validate our PoC and to execute beyond this PoC phase requires that DAOs utilize our tools. Getting expressions of interest (EOI's) from DAOs is therefore part of our roadmap. We will also connect with other Cardano DAO proposals from this Catalyst Challenge category to offer our services from the beginning, thus helping to grow the Cardano (DAO) ecosystem.

Risk (3): Need for follow-up funding beyond PoC phase. The success of the follow-on financing is particularly likely due to Kathleen Olstedt's background in the VC industry. She has an existing network of institutional investors as well as Venture DAOs (e.g. own.fund). Future funding would be sought via one or more avenues, e.g. other Cardano Catalyst round, private investment, and/or initial DAO offering.

Does the proposal effectively addresses the challenge?

Under the heading of "not yet existing tools" this seems to fit well. It also drives the key metrics to increase DAO transactions that generate ADA fees, and would entice DAO to use Cardano as a platform for governance. I am not sure I entirely understand a couple of the suppositions, such as "HR is the engine of any DAO". but I understand that certain types of DAOs would greatly benefit from decentralized HR tools.

The problem statement is clear and so is the proposed solution. The impact of the project is high since having access to talent within the specialized world of DAOs is currently not a simple task and yet is essential for growth. Having a simple and effective tool to acquire required talent would be a distinct advantage for Cardano, would promote sustained growth, and is easily scalable. Skilled people interested in the DAO space will ultimately go where they can find work. Therefore I strongly agree that this proposal effectively addresses the challenge.

This team want to build a DAO for DAO-related jobs and tasks. Therefore, this proposal is within the challenge goal. The funds are dedicated to deliver a POC within three months. If a job-related Dao runs on Cardano it could help to attract specifically skilled people to work for Cardano-related DAOs, so there is potential for a positive impact for the entire Cardano ecosystem.

DAOJob provides a Cardano-integrated platform to support DAOs finding people to perform various tasks, as well as many foreseen features longer term, such as Dispute Resolution, Project/Task Management, etc. Presumably DAOJob is a play on "day job", which I think is quite clever. As someone who is excited to see Cardano grow, and especially for it to become a/the key ecosystem for DAOs in future, I think the proposed project has great potential to help scale up DAO activity in the Cardano ecosystem. As a bonus, I think the background of one proposer (Governor of H.E.R. DAO) makes it highly likely that this project will also positively impact the Cardano ecosystem in terms of inclusiveness and diversity, which is really needed.

The proposal states that the need for contributors to DAO Space will not be fulfilled by current job boards. The purpose of this DAO job board is to offer an optimized HR tooling for the specific needs of DAO. The description of the solution is convincing, and the target of this proposal is to translate it in a proof of concept. In a further application, I recommend that the proposal includes evidence about the problem itself, i.e. the lack of effective tooling to manage DAO related jobs, which I cannot confirm only based on my own knowledge. The proposal goal does meet the challenge main objective to facilitate the development of DAO infrastructures on Cardano.

A successful job creation tool for DAOs is an important part of the infrastructure needed for DAOs to operate successfully on Cardano. Proposal would be fully scalable to support any number of DAOs once a launched product is available. KPIs do not directly address a key KPI of the challenge (is ADA in DAO fees > ADA spent on funding) but potential use case of product suggest this would be likely if successful.

I would rate this more highly, except it lacks a technical lead, as noted, and likely underestimates the technical effort required to move this project forward. Two months at $2,500 / month for an outside technical resource to develop the architecture would seem to me to be a major barrier to success. Personally, I would rate the likelyhood of success as perhaps a four or a five if it had a higher proposal amount that reflected what would seem to be a more realistic estimate of the technical aspects. It's entirely possible that the architecture is either more simple than I surmise, or that resources are more readily available to do this work than I have experienced. The latter would be ironic given the nature of the proposal. ;-)

The team has all the required skills in order to make this project a reality and provided a lengthy bio and Linkedin profiles to verify. At the time of writing this assessment the Linkedin profile link for one of the team members was down however a quick google search was able to provide all the required background information. The proposal is very clearly broken down into workable segments with what seems like appropriate timeframes for completion of each segment. The budget is also broken down in a way which shows how the money will be spent and appears to be reasonable and realistic to accomplish the stated goals. One concern is that the requested funding only covers the first 3 months of a project with a 12 month timeframe. This project will require ongoing funding as well to maintain beyond 12 months. This is addressed in the risk analysis section by stating that future funding would be acquired by one of the team members. Upon review of Kathleen Olstedt's credentials and experience this seems to be very likely to succeed and this was also included as a goal within the proposal milestones. Overall the plan is detailed, realistic and describes well how it will be executed and therefore I strongly agree that it is highly likely that this proposal will be implemented successfully.

The team has the relevant experience to execute this proposal. a step-by-step plan for the implementation with clear milestones and a defined time horizon, also in technical realization. Budget seems sensible and has been broken down in identifiable items. The timeline provided to complete the project seems fair. With the given information I think it is highly likely that this proposal (MVP-Version) will be implemented successfully.

Both proposers have impressive and valuable experience, background and connections in many relevant spaces. I was initially concerned, however, that the team appears to lack technical ability to execute on the project. I was also concerned that Milestone 1.3 is about recruiting for technical talent, while Month 2 includes Milesstone 2.1, which includes identifying the appropriate tech stack, after recruiting technical expert/consultant. Presumably we can infer that this person will not necessarily build the prototype, but rather "consult" on design, stack, etc. I also assume that the Budget item called "Technical Architecture" is intended for paying that consultant, though this is not clear from the proposal. With the benefit of doubt and given that the Budget is only for the first three months and it is clear that further fundraising and recruiting will be required beyond that, I feel more comfortable that the proposers can feasibly execute on the proposed project's first three months. I also think that the proposers are well connected and therefore well positioned for recruiting when the time comes. I wonder if the proposers are aware of https://discoverdaos.com/ and how it relates it to DAOJob.

The 2 teammembers are identified by their linkedIN project and gather a relevant experience in human ressources and business development. The solution is well defined and so are the conditions of success. The proposal gives confidence that DAO specific needs are well understood. 3 main risks are identified, starting with recruiting of the technical consultants required to implement the proposal. For all risks, a compelling risk mitigation action plan is presented. Considering the risk that the technical consultant/skills are not yet embedded in the team, I grade feasibility with a score of 4. I'm very confident that this project will be successfully implemented.

Milestones for both the 3 month funded period and 12 month road map seem viable. Team has strong experience in the ecosystem, in HR functions specifically, and in product development. The team also seems to have good networks to recruit talent to work on this project. Multiple plausible routes suggested for follow up funding gives good likelihood of ongoing product development/launch if a successful product can be built. Budget is stated to be intentionally lean. It does appear to be a comparatively low rate for developers which may exacerbate stated risk around immediate hiring requirement, though potentially mitigated by teams network and high potential of ongoing funding. Team has another funding proposal which references this proposal and states DAOJob will proceed regardless of funding success so it's possible this budget concern is unlikely to hinder successful outcome

The roadmap with all the included milestones is detailed, well thought out, and seems realistic to achieve. The metrics and KPIs for defining success are present but are not very specific. This is understandable in a sense since this is a new tool in a new space, but some specific KPIs are required to properly access progress. For example one metric is that over 10 DAOs would be attracted by the project to Cardano. How would this be judged? At least one contract filled by the proposed tool per DAO perhaps? Unfortunately this is not quantified nor are most assessment metrics. Additionally there is no stated avenue to check on progress. I'm sure this would not be a difficult thing to implement for this team but clearly defining a place where progress updates could be verified would be helpful. All that said the goals are well established and although not quantified, they were qualified. Most importantly they were not ignored in the proposal. Therefore I agree that this proposal provides me with sufficient information to assess the progress in attaining its stated goals.

The proposer provides a step-by-step plan for the implementation with clear milestones and a defined time horizon. Also they have provided key performance indicators. To further improve auditability for the community I suggest to add a documentation source where the community can access and observe the progress of this proposal.

The budget is for three months, and the Milestones and Deliverables set out for the first three months seem mostly reasonable and realistic. Furthermore, I think the proposers could make the case that the deliverables can be documented for accountability and transparency. However, the proposal's definition of success and KPIs are more focused on later stages of the project, beyond the currently proposed three months. Furthermore, those KPIs are stated rather vaguely, with little discussion of how they can be measured or what measured values would be considered "success". I am giving an Agree (4) rating on the basis that I think the three-month milestones and deliverables can provide sufficient accountability, even though that is not how the proposal addresses the question.

A quite precise budget breakdown is presented. Funds are requested to reach to proof-of-concept stage after 3 months, which reduce the risk for community if some. After PoC stage, an application to a coming Catalyst round will be made. Detailed intermediate milestones are listed, and a roadmap is presented for the full project up to full launch. Many relevant Kpis are listed, ensuring that the impact on Cardano's DAO environment will be accurately monitored. Budget allocation is detailed enough to enable a monitoring of the project up to PoC stage. Based on the given information I grade auditability with a score of 5.
