Solution

Lecturers were formed to enhance their understanding of Cardano and were encouraged to integrate Cardano into students' scientific research topics. Last year, our 5 Cardano-related topics got awards.

Problem:

Our university plans to introduce blockchain as a subject next year, exploring various technologies. Integrating Cardano blockchain into student research enhances its appeal to the younger generation.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Despite the efforts of the Cardano Vietnam community to bring Cardano to the Vietnamese market, sustainable development requires a young workforce, particularly IT students who have a deep understanding of Cardano. Integrating Cardano into student projects is a proper and long-term approach.

As an IT lecturer at a university with over 15,000 students, including approximately 3,500 IT students, we support students in conveniently accessing Cardano techniques by combining lecturers and Cardano experts to assist them. In 2022, we had 5 research topics (with 25 students) that received awards in the department and university-level student research competitions. If we receive funds from Cardano, it would motivate and excite the students, leading to more topics and awards.

Some proposed research topics could include:

  • Cardano blockchain architecture
  • Cardano programming languages (Haskell, Plutus, Marlowe)
  • Cardano consensus mechanisms
  • Understanding and applying Cardano's scalability capabilities

The reasons for choosing these solutions, which also serve as the advantages of our proposed solution, are as follows:

  • As a lecturer in the IT department of a university, I have the opportunity to guide and advise students in selecting scientific research topics, while introducing them to the advantages of Cardano blockchain.

  • The faculty members in the IT department are open to blockchain technology in general and Cardano in particular. We have organized numerous seminars on Cardano at the university, including hosting the Cardano Summit in 2022, which was attended by many lecturers and students.

  • Blockchain will also be taught as a subject at the university next year, providing an excellent opportunity for us to further introduce the Cardano development ecosystem to students.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

Although Blockchain has gained attention in recent years, it is still relatively new to students due to its limited incorporation into the curriculum. Every year, many students engage in scientific research, presenting an excellent opportunity for them to understand blockchain, particularly Cardano.

To achieve this, the first step is to approach the faculty members and organize workshops to introduce Cardano technology. Subsequently, we can engage with students, helping them comprehend and easily access Blockchain technology, specifically Cardano.

Benefits for the ecosystem:

  • Provide students with a learning environment supported by experienced developers on the Cardano platform.

  • The project will attract the interest of students, faculty members, and school leaders to the field of blockchain in general and Cardano in particular.

  • Encourage students to explore, research, and implement their innovative ideas on the Cardano platform.

  • Guide students in their career paths for those interested in pursuing a future in the blockchain industry.

  • The success of the project sets a precedent for us to replicate this model in other universities in Vietnam.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

Quantitative indicators to measure project success:

  • Number of students participating in the topics (30 students)

  • Number of registered topics (6 groups)

  • Number of lecturers guiding students in scientific research in the field of blockchain, Cardano. (5-6 lecturers)

  • Number of topics defended before the panel (6 topics)

  • Number of seminars held (10 seminars including online and offline)

  • Number of published software

  • Number of awards won (3 topics)

  • number of proposals on Catalyst (3 topics)

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

  • All topics are published on GitHub (code and documentation)

  • the awards will be announced publicly on the website and social network of the University and Faculty to attract the following students

  • The project will be divided into many parts, the first for research, after improving it to the project for graduate

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

The team has:

  • Technical experts from Cardano2vn, who understand Cardano deeply
  • Lectures from the University that support students to research

This is the information about 5 topics that received awards:

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

With 5 lecturers and 30 students participating in scientific research on Cardano, the project goes beyond the initial 6 topics. With the knowledge gained by the lecturers, in the coming years, there will be new research topics. As students acquire an understanding of Cardano, they will become software development professionals in the future, and some may choose Cardano as their preferred platform due to their solid knowledge in this field.
