Detailed Plan

Three months of events run online and if possible (C19 restrictions permitting) face-to-face incl. workshops, meetups and 1-on-1 sessions to introduce the people to Cardano/Project Catalyst.

We will spark interest, share the value proposition & introduce people already in the community to each other and others.

We will share details about projects already being worked on (proposals and funded proposals), make use of and iterate on the Cardano Canvas (Fund 6 funded proposal) and find collaboration opportunities.

The intention is to ensure events can be run by, with and/or engage our Maori community and honour their ways of doing things (tikanga), which (happily for all:) includes food (kai) and fellowship (whanaugatanga).

The events will provide a platform for 'Kiwi Cardonians' to decide what we are going to do next from our far-away corner of the world. Aotearoa NZ's Cardano community will become more connected, more visible and able to leverage each others skills, knowledge and connections to drive more adoption.

Team & Experience

The project team is experienced in community building, connecting community resources including running workshops and meetups, developing feasibility studies and business cases, supporting entrepreneurs. They have a network of networks that spans the whole of Aotearoa, NZ, contribute to the Catalyst Eastern Townhall and widely to the Catalyst Community.

Jo Allum: Designer, Impact Entrepreneur, Ecosystem builder, Co-founder of a community-led coworking space, Entrepreneur Support Organisation (including incubation, acceleration programmes) and a country-wide network of ESO's for Impact entrepreneurs. Contracted to support Angel Association New Zealand's Investor network and member of the committee of New Zealand's Open Source Society. CA F7, F6 Funded Proposer, Challenge Team member at Improve and Grow Auditability.

Pia Andrews: Open [govt|source|data|standards|society] geek, with 20 years experience working at the intersection of government, society and technology, usually in digital or service transformation of government. Established Rules as Code programs in 4 jurisdictions to date, and now very keen to establish a community commons.

Our Solution

  • Online and/or Face-to-Face Workshops and Meetups
  • Education — what is Cardano/Catalyst?
  • Introducing projects and services (e.g. SPO's) to each other and others
  • Brainstorming collaborations
  • Collect, collate and describe Aotearoa NZ Cardano/Catalyst community's activities
  • Initiate a resource center for local hubs (ppts, research docs, list of tools, list of catalyst communities on a website)
  • Ideate on an Aotearoa NZ Cardano/Catalyst community activities digital news product

What we will do

  • Weekly meetups for 12 weeks
  • On-going support & connection point for Cardano community members, their products and services
  • Support new community members / proposals
  • Promote various groups within Catalyst and relevant opportunities

Impact on Challenge Metrics

While Aotearoa NZ is a small country at the end of the world we 'punch above our weight' on the global stage. We do things differently, and are visible to the world when we do. In time, by growing our community, we can have an outsized influence on adoption of Cardano, engagement in Project Catalyst and more.

Key Performance Indicators

These are the KPIs for the initial phase:

  • People attending workshops
  • Collaborative partnerships with existing Aotearoa NZ based Cardonians
  • Amount of people onboarded (self-reported attendance at Townhalls, Wallet download)
  • Amount of people asking for help to engage

Deliverable

An identifiable and recognisable community of Aotearoa NZ based 'Kiwi Cardonians' who collaborate and become ambassadors for Cardano to grow adoption in Aotearoa NZ itself and beyond, in our Pacific region.

What Success Looks Like

We expect more of Aotearoa, NZ's community to do the following as a result of forming our hub;

  • Engage with Project Catalyst
  • Attend Town Halls
  • Engage in channels (Discord, Telegram, Twitter)
  • Setup wallets
  • Buy ADA

After 3 and 6 months we expect to be growing an incrementally more and more visible densely populated and educated community with Cardano-business-development capability.

Budget

  • Create and pay for website-domains, website content + design in two languages (English and Te Reo Maori)
  • Provide koha (financial contribution) towards venue and kai (food) for face-to-face events
  • Resource to pay for co-ordination, communications (social media promotion, blog posts, explanatory materials etc) and hosting of workshops

Requested funds in USD 27500
