Solution

To provide tournament infrastructure as an additional value layer for gamers to earn an income over and above a native play-to-earn game.

Problem:

The majority of gamers don’t earn any real-world value from playing video games or competing in tournaments.

[IMPACT]

Main features:

• Tournament organization functionality

• Entry fees and Pay-outs in ADA, the platform’s native token, and/or NFT’S

• Guild management system

• Game library

• NFT forging

• NFT marketplace

Functionality:

• Players can create their own tournaments with their own entry requirements and prize(s)

• Players can search for tournaments and enter by paying the tournament entry fee (if required)

• Players pay an entry fee to join a tournament and their fees (and any sponsorships) are distributed to the winners according to each tournament’s rules/prize structure

• Each tournament’s entry fees and prize money are held and distributed (paid out) with a smart contract(s)

• Guild vs Guild and Team vs Team functionality

• Sponsorship and collaborator-based prizing

Components:

• Automated match adjudication via oracle for integrated games

• On-chain consensus voting for match adjudication for non-integrated games

Target audience/user group:

Initially we are targeting PC gamers of skill based online games – later on we will focus on adding mobile gamers of skill based online games.

Resulting impact for the audience/user group:

Our platform will act as a lure for gamers to join the Cardano ecosystem via our play-to-earn solution. These gamers will be exposed to incentivized tournaments (as per each tournament creator’s rules) and have a chance to earn value (in the form of ADA/ Native Tokens/ NFT’s) in the real world from their gaming skills. Our platform/infrastructure provides an additional layer of value on top of any other value streams a player may already have (such as in-game rewards, income from streaming, tips, etc.)

Provide tournament functionality to pre-existing games (including those that lack tournament architecture). Transform any skill-based game into a play-to-earn game.

Creation of a native asset to be used within the platform’s ecosystem as a governance token and to act as a utility token for entry to tournaments.

Providing frictionless transactions in and out of the ecosystem, so that participants can easily stake and withdraw funding.

Players will be able to create their own tournaments on our platform. They will be able to configure their tournaments according to the following criteria:

• Number of entrants required

• Minimum requirements for each entrant (such as: the player has to be above or below a certain rank – depending on the game, age limit, if each player has to also stream their gameplay or not, etc.)

• Participation/ tournament entry fee (expressed in the platform’s native token / or in ADA)

• Number of rounds in the tournament (elimination of players in each round, or scoring according to placement in each round)

• How the tournament will be scored (for example: kills in an FPS game, team rank/placement in each round, etc.)

• How the entry fees will be distributed at the end of the tournament

• If NFT’s are to be awarded to the participants/ winners

Players will form part of the digital gaming community on Cardano. With a play-to-earn platform each gamer will be incentivized to participate in more tournaments. Each player will own the token(s) and NFT’s they receive at the end of each tournament.

Since players’ winnings are according to their skill-based performance in-game, it is not the same as gambling. Players rely on their own skill to complete the challenges/matches. Therefore, players are allowed to pay a tournament entry fee which is then distributed to the winners (and placement) in each tournament.

A portion of the platform’s native asset will be allocated towards ecosystem rewards and incentivization. This will allow us to reward early adopters of our platform with reward multipliers on a tournament’s rewards (For example: if a tournament offers 32 ADA as rewards to the winners – we may add 32 ADA worth of our native asset to double the rewards of that specific tournament – as an example). This may be determined on a case-by-case basis or as part of specific campaigns on our platform.

Players will be required to purchase our native asset (in-game currency) to enter into tournaments into which the entry fees and rewards are denominated in our native asset.

The native asset will allow players to form a DAO to govern decisions.

Certain rewards/ perks may be minted as NFT’s and applied to a player’s profile. Examples of rewards/ perks are:

• 10% discount on platform fees

• Etc.

Players from all over the world are allowed to create/ or participate and earn an income from their favorite skill-based games. The barrier to entry is very low with the use of cryptocurrency, and payment for all entry fees and reward payouts are frictionless (no need to send money internationally through the traditional banking system) – saving time and money.

Players don’t have to trust each other (or the platform) with their entry fees as all funds are managed with smart contracts. Users will be able to connect their Cardano wallet (such as a browser wallet) to be able to interact with a smart contract.

We are looking to employ staff globally and will be working with a remote team(s). We foresee a challenge in finding collaborators with the necessary skills and enthusiasm for the Cardano blockchain to form part of the team. Of the developers that are involved with blockchain technology, a lot are working on blockchains other than Cardano. By applying to the Catalyst Fund, we aim to raise awareness of our project to the Cardano community - in order to find people who would like to join us and who can contribute their skills towards the success of the project.

We assume there will be some risk with match adjudication for non-integrated games. Due to the nature of cryptocurrency, we aim to implement the appropriate steps – to minimize the unwanted repercussions of human error or bias in match adjudication. To manage this risk, we propose that matches be adjudicated by the tournament organizer, where the results are validated via on-chain consensus voting by users. After the organizer selects the winner(s) and receives a majority confirmation from voters, the platform/oracle will update the smart contract with the winner(s) – and they will receive their reward(s).

[AUDITABILITY]

• Total number of community members vs active members

• Meeting the budgeted financial forecast

• Meeting deliverables on time

• Selection of games to integrate based on community feedback

• Total web app registrations

• Number of CNFT's minted on the platform

• Number of CNFT's traded

• Total number of community members and acquisition rate

• Number of games integrated into the platform

• Total value earned by gamers in play-to-earn tournaments

• User adoption rate of the platform’s Cardano native token

• Number of active gaming-based tournaments on the platform (using ADA or a native asset)

When the community is using our platform – built on the Cardano blockchain – to arrange gaming tournaments, and we see consistent growth and uptake of new users participating in tournaments.
