Solution

ERS is an approach to continuous professional training that measures “employment impact”. It is a digital tool capable of connecting informal workers with job opportunities by valorising their skills.

Problem:

8 out of 10 workers in Africa are involved in informal employment and their contribution to the economy is not measured and valued.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

It is a new societal security value for citizens, governments and state services. It is based on semantic and behavioural content engineering integrated into a learning process that stimulates a real job situation experienced by active professionals.

It is developed through a community of professional “trust mentors” who will drive the formation of a trust community with learners.

This relies on a digital tool capable of aligning interests of mentors and learners with the aim of employment inclusion and amalgamating government’s youth employment inclusion policies. The tool enables aligning personal and common good interests via high quality content transmission and value-added components in the form of inclusion, resilience and reliability.

Backed by a civic job chain platform,"ERS CONCERSO®".

"ERS CONCERSO®" already exists in Alpha version and has been deployed in Ivory Coast (Grand-Bassam)

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

The proposed solution looks to find ways to improve tokenisation of impact and more specifically, it is aimed at social impact. The ERS matrix allows for measuring the value generated by informal workers and creates a societal network of mentors/ economic stakeholders. It also factors in the idea of tokenising "employment impact".

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

The main risks that could prevent the team from delivering the project include making the data on employability readable and also ensuring that the beta version is user friendly to ensure adoption. The team is addressing these two risks by simplifying the access and presentation of data to ensure that local organisations/ governments plus citizens can easily see the value generated.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

Step 1 (Q2/Q3 2022): Development of beta version - the current Alpha version requires upgrade and needs to be adapted for user adoption.

Step 2 (Q3 2022): Conceptualise and implement a POC in collaboration with a local government/ association to validate concept and on-board more partners. This phase would also allow us to better explore tokenisation of employment impact.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

Alpha to beta version upgrade: 10,000 USD

Operational costs: 8000 USD ( R&D phase has been completed)

Marketing: 2000 USD

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

This proposal has been presented on behalf of Florence Lacave. She will be leading the project full-time on all aspects relating to operations and the deployment of the ERS solution in the territories.

She will be supported by external advisors:

  • Alexis Abric - Abric consulting

  • Trishala Suresh - SmartChain

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Yes, if funded we will be returning to Catalyst Fund to fund the development of phase 2 of this project and expand it to more territories in Africa.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

  • We will measure the progress of the project by calculating the number of informal workers transitioning into the formal economy via the usage of the ERS platform.

  • We will also calculate the contribution to the local economy and community based on this.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

  • Securize a new sharing ecosystem boosted by the skills value of individuals that is transformed into job creation

  • Foster an ecosystem of consideration and engagement especially for the younger African generations.

  • More concretely, connecting professional citizens with local and international organisations in order to transform the 70%of informal jobs into inclusive jobs - especially in the crafts and agricultural sector.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This proposal is an entirely new one.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Rating
