Detailed Plan

The customer has to take the word of the VPN provider that they are not collecting their and logging their online data. The VPN host also has access to the customer’s location data and hardware device information. The customer also has to trust the VPN provider that they will not fall victim to a cyber-attack and data breaches. Recently, this has been a growing concern due an increase in targeted exploits involving ransomware. Because even if the companies did not log customer online data, they would still have a record of the customers payment information and personal identity. To go along with that point, the customer also has to trust that the VPN provider will not commit fraud, since they are in direct possession of the customers payment information.

Traditional VPN companies have servers located in select cities around the globe. This provides some decentralization, however, everything is usually controlled through a headquarters. The headquarters can be subject to national and international laws and can be prone to government interventions and seizures. If the VPN company has a choice between releasing information about a single client to the government or having their operations shut down, the businessmen will always choose option that allows them to continue business as usual. Additionally, the customer has to trust that the VPN provider will remain politically neutral and will not restrict the browsing capabilities of the customer.

The competition for a fully featured dVPN has increased dramatically in a short amount of time. The Ethereum blockchain already has the major leader with Orchid and a promising up-and-comer in Mysterium. Sentinel has been developing with Cosmos. The market has proven that there is a demand for dVPN services. With the introduction of Cardano’s Smart Contracts, the blockchain is in a prime position to throw its hat in the ring. In order for Dolos to separate itself from the competition, several key features will need to be developed so that the experience will be truly unique in this ecosystem.

## Key Features that will be Developed

### Network Slicing

Slice the traffic into different chunks as it gets passed through the internet.

### Relays & Multi-hops

Instead of having a single point between browser and the internet, the traffic bounced across a few different nodes before exiting.

### Split Tunneling

Direct a portion of the traffic through the dVPN, while routing the rest through the standard open internet. This can reduce unnecessary strain on the dVPN.

### Kill Switch

In the event of connection interruption between the dVPN service, the kill Switch will block all network traffic. Thus, preventing inadvertently compromising the users privacy.

### Stealth VPN Protocols

Bypass strict DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) firewalls by wrapping and obfuscating the header in SSL/TLS encryption and reroute traffic through a typical HTTPs port. Through obfuscation, it becomes nearly impossible for nations with strict censorship to block or throttle a users internet traffic.

### Traffic Whitelist for Node Operators

Node operators have the choice to only allow internet traffic for websites they specify. This reduces the risk of ISP companies terminating the node operators internet access, due to accessing content that is illegal locally.
