Solution

We will make AdaStat.net Cardano Explorer site and API available for both Pre-prod and Preview testnets. Thus, the developers and users will have more opportunities to explore the Cardano testnets.

Problem

At the moment all existing Testnets explorers have not only pros, but, unfortunately, cons too. AdaStat will bring a solution for some (maybe even for all) known issues of existing Testnets explorers

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Explorers are an important part of every blockchain ecosystem. Cardano is no exception. Since none of the Testnets explorers is perfect and each has both advantages and disadvantages (for example, some don’t show account rewards, others may display non-real-time data, i.e. display cached data, etc), it is very important to give developers and users the opportunity to choose which explorer they will use for a particular request. Our team has already developed the AdaStat.net Cardano Explorer for the mainnet, and now we want to do the same for the both Pre-prod and Preview testnets. In addition, as far as I know, none of existing Testnet Explorer has a public API. AdaStat will have the public API for both Pre-prod and Preview testnets.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

Following the principles of decentralization, it is very important for users to have an access to blockchain data in different explorers. Since users should not trust any of the explorers, they should be able to compare data in different explorers. Also, convenience and simplicity of interacting with blockchain data will potentially attract more blockchain developers.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

The key metrics will be the number of site users and the number of developers using the API. An indicator of success will be represented by the growth of these metrics.

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

We plan to share the outputs and results of this project through AdaStat Twitter account as well as Cardano TG Groups like Cardano Developers, Cardano StakePool Operators, Cardano Stake Pool Best Practice, etc

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

As mentioned above, our team has already developed the AdaStat Cardano Explorer for the mainnet. So we have enough experience and understanding of how and what to do to achieve results.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The main goal is developing and running a fully functional Cardano Explorer for both Pre-prod and Preview testnets, as well as developing API for both.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

The development will take approximately 2 months and will consist of 2 milestones:

Milestone 1

  • Tasks: renting and configuring servers, network infrastructure, database, as well as preparing and launching the back-end part of the project.
  • Duration: 1 month

Milestone 2

  • Tasks: preparing and launching the front-end part of the project.

  • Duration: 1 month

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please describe the deliverables, outputs and intended outcomes of each milestone.

Milestone 1

  • Deliverables: by the end of the first month, we expect that the both API sites api.preprod.adastat.net and api.preview.adastat.net will be fully available.

Milestone 2

  • Deliverables: by the end of the second month, we expect that the both sites preprod.adastat.net and preview.adastat.net will be online and the project will be completed.

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

The total requested funds are 50,000 ADA, which is equal to ~$14,000 at the current rate

  • Servers and infrastructure cost for 2 years: 2 servers each ~$100/month = $200/month * 24 months = $4,800 (~17,000 ADA)
  • Developers salary (2 developers): $9,200 (~33,000 ADA)

Milestone 1

  • Estimated man-hours: 92 hours
  • Developers salary: 16,500 ADA
  • Servers and infrastructure cost: 17,000 ADA
  • Total cost: 33,500 ADA

Milestone 2

  • Estimated man-hours: 92 hours

  • Developers salary: 16,500 ADA

  • Total cost: 16,500 ADA

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Our team roles and responsibilities for the project are:

  • Tetiana Stashenko - Project manager, UI/UX designer

  • Dmytro Stashenko - Full-stack developer

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The average cost of development per hour is 50$. We assume that our 2 devs will not spend more than 25% of their working time (i.e. 2 hours per day / each dev = 4 hours per day). We also assume that the project will take 2 month (i.e. 46 working days). So we can calculate the total amount

  • 46 * 4 hours = 184 hours
  • 184 hours * $50 = $9,200

which is equal our team work cost.
