Solution

An OpenSource searchengine kickstarting a circular economy. Outputs (food, biomass and heat) generated by a closed loop microorganism production system. Usage incentivised with gamified IMPACT dapp.

Problem:

The accumulation of CO2 emission doesn't allow the environment to produce O2 naturally as before, as a result biospheres are collapsing. Healing and feeding needs to happen simultaneously.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

#TL;DR

So much energy is used in tech research, so we should use the circular economy system as an "energetic" model to create organic tech that outputs biomass and energy for us to survive on planet Earth in a sustainable fashion.

We will add Idea- and Impacfest videos and more material to our LinkTree after proposal finalisation.

~~~~~~~
#lets go deeper
Modelling after the microorganisms that will help us, a decentralised and opensource search engine protocol will, much like the sun, send rays of funds (generated by search activity), to upgrade, build and power microorganism production facilities.
The facilities produce biomass, super foods and minor amounts of energy. Any surplus or profits from sales of microorganism products will go directly back into the purpose of the Association, that is to: Re establish natural levels of CO2 absorption and 02 production, in a sustainable way.
Image File
The current facility has been running for some months now but is missing the data gathering tools and critical size to be self sustainable. The attachments contain the cost calculation for extending the facility (currently a module 1 facility), respectively the costs for setting up new ones.
Here are shots from the operation in Italy:
#buidling an impact experience
Once the search engine gained traction , we'll introduce a personalised impact experience dapp that offers:
Calculate individual footprint saved based on search engine usage*;
  • share footprint;
  • footprint reduction contest;
  • content selection of impact activities or events*¹ that were sponsored by A:R [where funds went (in your local area)];
  • a dapp shop (to buy microorganism products from source) with ADA as primary currency*²
Once the model is tested, profitable and sustainable, a primary focus will be the adaptation to other micro organisms and geopolitical regions.
Demand for ADA and on-boarding of active members of the Cardano network would increase proportionally with the growth of the model
*will be estimated at first, but once measurement tools for data acquisition are setup, the data will become more accurate over time, the goal is to be able to instantly calculate the impact done by a person in their account up to the minute
*¹ A:R will funnel profits into socio-ecological non profits that align with the purpose, many of which are doing events - upcoming Impact Events in the prosumer's vicinity would pop up
*² starting with a native asset for abstraction
#gamifying and ideating
Ideas:
  • have tournaments for high impact scores and top spots get chance to receive ADA (requires donations or staking or pool rewards!)
  • exchange ADA for x amount of C02 saved/O2 produced (requires treasury!); others can create programmable validators (smart contracts) faucet, send ADA to the faucet, when ppl saved x amount of CO2 and created x amount of O2 they can access the faucet; thus incentivise people to use the engine and fuel the Circular Microorganism Economy.
Eco conscious companies could create their own validator sets or have internal high impact score tournaments
#the legal setup
A:R as free non profit association will take charge in establishing a network of purpose companies and cooperatives with the aim of reestablishing balance to the biospheres; Communia network will be a primer for the community supporting the overall A:R network.
Communia (with 120 members) will use the search engine on their devices and provide a kickstart.
The goal is to have a Distributed Purpose Driven Cooperative, an amalgamation of the DisCo and Purpose Company concepts. However this is not within the scope of this proposal or year.
##how to balance biospheres?
Next to creating sustainable O2 productions A:R will also use culture and arts to communicate the "help message" for Earth's biospheres; giving the planet a voice.
~~~~~~~

#even deeper

Once the closed loop model of digital service provider and production facility is validated it can be adapted to include other microorganism facilities in many different regions. Let's think not only Spiurilna, but Wakame, Fucus, all sorts of fungi and mushroom. Imagine facilities in rural areas of Africa, Australia and Asia producing food and sustaining themselves. Facilities that are easy to build and lighter, temporary, versions could also be used as Triage (in catastrophe areas).

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

Types of proposals to include (mentioned in Challenge Brief): Environment - Solutions that help to solve environmental issues

  • successfully launching and maintaining the project is impacting 5 main SDGs
  • sequestering CO2, creating natural O2,
  • sustainable food production
  • closed loop system between digital service and microorganism production facility

Potential success metrics for proposal types Environment (mentioned in Challenge Brief)

Total number of prosumers (within 6 months after launch): 25k

Total numbers of prosumers (within 12 months after launch): 100k

  • Total CO2 sequestered: min. 2 t
  • Total natural O2 created: TBD (needs precise calculation and better measuring equipment)
  • amount of awareness being produced by events of purpose entities: TBD

Existing products or integrations

  • Dandelion (node setup) to handle ledger traffic
  • CatID for storing impact credentials
  • cooperation with "Cardano4Climate" (Climate Change The Challenge)

Technical requirements: Yes, for the first iterations absolutely!

Ecosystem maturity requirements: Gimbalabs work and support of the PBL and the incoming Vasil hardfork make the ecosystem mature enough for the first iterations.

Native assets have been running successfully for over a year. Coti and ADApay make the realisation of the web shop very achievable.

Roundtable for the multisig treasury and Hazelnetbot for on chain community stewardship are also available to be integrated.

We are also in contact with the Algae Token team.

Once the model is tested, profitable and sustainable, a primary focus will be the adaptation to other micro organisms and geopolitical regions.

Demand for ADA and on-boarding of active members of the Cardano network would increase proportionally with the growth of the model

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

#risks_challenges

  • natural disaster destroying facilities -> mitigation = Insurance! -> yet to be integrated into budget

  • Risks: out of budget -> mitigation = Association (A:R) backing

  • no traction for search engine -> mitigation = reach out to other digital service providers that align with purpose and could contribute funding (offer CO2 offset) [Thank you Sosha for the feedback leading to this risk mitigation tactic!]

    [FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

The proposal is setup in a way for A:R to become self sufficient after Milestone 5, which will include the alpha release of the Impact Dashboard ("Dappboard")

**Network Seed: Communia**

Interwoven into A:R network is Communia (Italian non profit network for common goods), who will help to kickstart the greater A:R community and be the first prosumers searching with A:R

.

Here's the Constitution and a rough translation:

THE POSTER Promoting Committee - Permanent Network for Common Goods, ecological conversion and future generations 1. The Common Goods express functional benefits for the exercise of fundamental rights and duties of solidarity social life, as well as the free development of each person. In a broader sense, common goods concern capital natural (e.g. water, soil and subsoil, air), cultural and landscape heritage, infrastructures fundamental for citizens, human capital and knowledge (information, education, school, family, community), welfare, quality of life in cities, justice and the protection of privacy and digital profiles personal. 2. Alongside the state economy (statism) and that of the free market (liberalism), the network intends to promote a new community economy with widespread control, which is sustainable and generative for the current ones generations, without burdening the quality of life of future generations and ecosystems. Such a shape economic aims to protect common goods from speculative and short-term policies, helping their identification, the enhancement, development and access to all and for all. 3. A new policy on common goods brings together different dimensions of the human being in a balanced way: economic, social, relational, democratic and spiritual, favoring a new responsible relationship with dimension of having and opening up to the protagonism of communities in a new space of relationship "between" and "beyond" public and private. 4. The Italian and largely European value system is traditionally communitarian (e.g. mutuals, mercies, forms of cooperation and popular). We would like to regenerate in its institutional forms and cultural traditions, the community tradition to adapt it to our times and our sensitivities also using technological innovation in a way that is functional to the interest of many and containing the leadership of a few. Such regenerated tradition we would like to develop it by making it a good Italian practice to offer as a model alternative to an international reflection in the economic and social sphere. 5. The economy of common goods while being open to pluralism of forms (public, non-profit, profit responsible) always requires the ability to generate a benefit in the general interest of the people and the future generations, through participation systems that allow transparent social control. 6. We believe that today it is urgent to carry out a profound transformation of national public institutions for avoid pressure on state accounts, on the one hand, and predatory attitudes in the economic sphere, on the other, can irreversibly affect the lives of current and future people. A new policy participatory on common goods will help this transformation towards widespread well-being. 7. Similarly, after the crises of 2008 and 2020, it is also necessary to foster transformation of globalization models with a strongly top-down structure and activate a new participation e leadership of communities and territories (inhabitants, civic subjects, businesses, public administrations local) in economic and social choices. 8. We are convinced that a continuous democratic confrontation and new alliances between different subjects by culture, skills and interests represent a necessary condition for this ecological conversion of the social and economic fabric. 9. The union of the forces and capabilities of private and public organizations that share and promote this new vision becomes fundamental to concretely modify national policies and international, especially those relating to the most important common goods from a patrimonial and economic point of view and social (eg construction of a new European welfare, priority on infrastructure investments). 10. The Rete dei Beni Comuni intends to present itself as a platform (common, in fact) to create one cultural gap and orient the future agenda, disseminate and information on common goods, render effective and transparent participatory processes of direct democracy, use the law strategically e counter-hegemonic, propose a new paradigm in the management of the Common Goods also as a new e innovative public-private collaboration for the revitalization of sectors essential for our peaceful cohesion, enhance and share the best local or sectoral experiences developed by member organizations and finally scaling the approach of individual organizations for the protection of the most relevant common goods at the level national and international that require resources and skills that can only be acquired through collaboration systematics between multiple subjects. We imagine the net as a constituent process of a new sensibility and of new institutions of the "common", which cannot be postponed and decisive for a genuine and effective i

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

With a 5% yes, in case the search engine will need a marketing budget to drive traffic from outside the Catalyst community. But most likely we go with composing a different and existing digital service provider into the construct. So very unlikely we need funds after this.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is kind of a new proposal, an iteration of a previous not funded Fund8 one titled: "FOSS to save the planet".
