Solution

Build a platform in which proposers can create a project space, provide project updates and manage and report project status socially.

Problem:

With exponential volume of proposals and proposers, auditing projects becomes unscalable if conducted manually.

Detailed Plan

We propose provisioning an online social space in which Funded Proposers are able to create their own network, courses and communicate posts. In this space, funded proposers could post events (meetings and collaborations) and updates on their projects.

We have begun this work at: members.cardanocatalyst.io and it is currently self-funded.

Unlike reporting on arbitrary metrics, the frequency of updates and comments would show continued work effort, rather than gathering these as tickboxes.

In the long run, funded proposers will need to review each other's work and having a social area explicitly for project updates reports.

Who is it for?

Funded proposers can contribute their journey and coordinate events and present video, image and written updates. Those interested in auditing or otherwise browsing funded projects would be able to browse this space and the groups within it.

Auditors can avoid the need to trawl through multiple social media account and websites to see a project current progress.

Why is it important?

It's important that the funded proposals are evaluated to see if they are delivering what was established in their mission. Currently project progress is opaque.

While form based reports collect metrics on project progress, some projects suffer from a lack of visibility that can only hurt their success and the Cardano treasury. As the number of funded projects grows we expect this to worsen.

To be able to have funded proposers reviewing funded proposers, we need to have an areas where proposers are able to both report and promote their projects, so that review can take place asynchronously.

Key Metrics We Will Measure

Number of reports, articles and videos/podcasts on:

  • Performance
  • Achievements
  • Financials

Timelines

  • 1 Month - Provision plans to integrate and train Catalyst Funded Proposers Cohort.
  • 3 Months - Have 3+ groups joined and reporting via members.cardanocatalyst.io
  • 6 Months - Create and foster a culture of transparent reporting via the network. Goal: Have IOHK handover project reporting and meeting to the Catalyst Funded Proposers and still be able to transparently review this process.

Funds

We're requesting

  • $2500 - PM and Project Communication Materials
  • $2500 - Subscription to Mighty Networks - allowing us to run a social network specifically for the Catalyst Community.
  • $10000 - Hosting and service fees (video data and storage at extracost).

Launch Date

We expect to launch the solution within 8 months from Funding Date.
