Solution

We will provide an open source UI tool solution for developers for testing and querying Dandelion’s PostgREST API graphically

Problem:

Developers using Dandelion Community APIs do not have a UI tool to query the PostgREST API. Same as Koios, Blockfrost, and deployments relying on PostgresDB filled by cardano-db-sync or ledger-sync

This proposal was approved and funded by the Cardano Community via Project F11: Cardano Open: Developers - technical Catalyst funding round.

[SOLUTION] Please describe your proposed solution.

Dandelion APIs has always been a friendly hand for developers and students on Cardano, as it give us all access to a community backed service of the official and most common APIs on the ecosystem.

Dandelion has a PostgREST API but for developers and students to discover the indexed data on the SQL database would be perfect to have a customized graphical user interface to explore it and to aid the user to build queries there to then incorporate to their projects.

I will offer that tool customized for Dandelion and any other project will be able to fork it and use their own API endpoints to point to their own services.

[IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.

As Cardano evolves, kind and appealing services such as cardano-graphql that once was enough for us to cover the grand majority of data types and relations required is now getting a bit outdated. With great solutions such as Koios and the upcoming Ledger Sync replacement of cardano-db-sync we think for projects to scale and stay flexible to evolve in time is to directly consume the populated PostgresDB itself through a PostgREST API.

Increasing the early adoption of PostgREST API with tools like this we can point developers early to a solid direction instead of letting them pick tools that are getting limited or outdated as times goes on and will probably make them lose research and development time in vane.

[CAPABILITY & FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

Regarding Dandelion, I cannot think of a more resilient and community focused project on Cardano. It has stayed with us with or without proper funding, it borned with a huge educational approach from Gimbalabs itself being their flagship API service for years now, and it has been powering projects like GameChanger Wallet since the very beginning of this ecosystem.

Cardano wont ever be the same without Dandelion APIs.

I, as GameChanger Finance Project Lead, have to offer my 2.5 years of product delivery and maintanance, even on several out of budget situations, plus all the finalized Catalyst projects with montly reports to keep myself accountable of the granted funds

[Project Milestones] What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Tasks:

  • Create the public Github repository of the UI tool.
  • Adapt the code to work and point to Dandelion APIs

Output: The full open source code of the UI tool.

Acceptance Criteria: The existance of the github repository with the code

>Tasks:

  • Create some basic documentation.
  • Deploy the code as a free service.

Output: The full open source code of the UI tool, basic documentation and the free deployment for the community.

Acceptance Criteria: The existance of the github repository with the code, the docs. The deployed application at the reported URL.

[RESOURCES] Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

<u>Project Leader:</u>

Adriano Fiorenza is Entrepreneur & Senior Full Stack Developer with 15+ years of experience software and IOT development. Founder and Developer of GameChanger Wallet, participated in 1st gen Plutus Pioneer Program, Team member at ALDEA, Gimbalabs colaborator

His Linkedin profile can be found at <https://ar.linkedin.com/in/adriano-fiorenza>

[BUDGET & COSTS] Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

Milestones:

  1. create repository and adapt - 80hs
  2. docs and deployment - 32hs

Total: 112hs x USD 85/hr = USD 9.520,00 ~ ADA 25.052,63

[VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

If I personally would have the insights provided here, the UI tool and the PostgREST API available back in 2021 I would have used them for developing GameChanger Wallet.

The offered solution at the low priced offered totally worth the use of this community funds only if we truly care to onboard developers and improve our builders and students ecosystem.
