[ Nations’ Problems we Approach to Solve ]

The following statistics and conclusions are based on studies attached in the comment section of this proposal.

Considering the economy of Chile as representative for the rest of Latin America and emerging countries: over 75% of businesses are physical and depend on the local influx of customers. At the same time, 83% of small and medium businesses can’t afford digital or out-of-home outdoor advertising (OOH), which are the advertising means that penetrate local audiences the most.

This defective relationship between the bankruptcy rate of small & medium businesses, and their insufficient access to advertising locally, may implicate -just in salaries- yearly losses of $500 million dollars at Chile; $10.17 billion on Latam and $21.64 billion for emerging countries.

The main reason for the high cost of promoting contents locally is that advertising markets are massively concentrated by private global corporations that do not mind whether who pays its advertising services is an international-scale company (non-local) or a small self-managed local initiative. What’s more, they always prefer the highest payments.

In the global advertising market; physically, a bunch of OOH advertisers control over 85%, such as Clear Channel or JCDecaux. Digitally, just Meta and Google control more than 75%. Their fees for advertising locally are unattainable for the vast majority of society.

This dynamic affects in an even worse manner local initiatives and business models where income-generation isn’t the main goal or benefit. Activities such as artistic, cultural, wellness, recreational, educational or democratic, do have a proven positive impact on the quality of life of communities and their people.

Thus, social losses provoked by the insufficient access to advertising locally are invaluable in terms of a better quality of life, for all of us and the ones to come.

[ Solutions we are Developing and Testing ]

Our co-operative model recognizes that within each locality there are different issues and inspirations, which Cardano’s DAOs, NFTs, dApps and many projects on this Catalyst, can serve in different appropriate ways.

Taking into consideration the following fact, that ‘a fundamental base of the learning -and use- curve of Blockchain and Cardano lies in the ability to conceptualize the technology and its tangible applications’; the education and visualization of practical uses of Blockchain is a central part of the average citizen adoption process.

That’s why we have explored the possibilities and implications of physical digital displays located at diverse public spaces, where people could be able to see and interact with local contents, NFTs and initiatives; curated by the nearby communities through DAO, while -at the same time- it broadcasts diverse educational contents about Blockchain and Cardano dApps, promoting the onboarding to this ecosystem.

Through ‘LOCAL’ Tokens, users will be able to utilize DAO dynamics and curate which contents and NFTs should be broadcasted to the local infrastructure of Out-of-Home Digital Displays (OOH) at Public Spaces. As well as selecting which proposals should receive more attention and funding, in a Community-Innovation process based on Catalyst. Both types of DAO-interaction will requiere a minimum Token fee, that could also become subsidized-to-zero by the network.

Through DAO, local communities will also be able to choose the temporal advertising mix that their OOH displays will broadcast, as well as selecting the clients interested to advertise and how incomes will be used. These FIAT incomes will back-up the ‘LOCAL’ Token value and increase the Treasury available for funding initiatives and awarding those contents that are most valued by network users.

Other income streams that will flow into the monetary treasury (which backups ‘LOCAL’ Token), will come from crowd-funding and the subsidies (or monthly subscription) granted by space-administrators that value the DAO-OOH infrastructure we provide to their stakeholders. Tokens could be also used to purchase on local businesses.

In order to activate our DAO Network on certain Digital Display, to stream the best-valued contents, NFTs and initiatives of the locality, these displays will need internet connection, location validation and our Broadcasting Key. We will provide a Broadcasting Key to those local users, communities or space-administrators, that register and verify to have a Digital Display available for broadcasting. The staking of the key will enable the Airdrop of ‘LOCAL’ Tokens, as an incentive for maintaining the availability of the OOH Display, and the costs associated, such internet connection, electricity consumption and maintenance.

Our platform’s UI for Broadcasting will be designed to respond and adjust to all kinds of Digital Displays. Manual adjustment of the resolution and sizing will also be available to confirm usability, anywhere. These Digital Displays, such as TVs, Monitors or Digital Signaling, could be the ones that are already installed. For example, many currently exist on Community Spaces such as university campuses, cultural buildings, neighbourhood centres, sport clubs, offices, etc. Also, Social Spaces such as restaurants, coffee shops or small businesses usually have them. Thus, before aiming for Public Spaces, we will approach local Social and Community Spaces; by proposing to the communities that inhabit them and, also, the administrators of this type of places.

In order to increase the local availability of OOH Displays, we will promote the recycling of TV monitors; but only if technical and energy-consumption criteria is met. For those users, communities or space-administrators that prefer having new Digital Displays, we will offer them to purchase from a growing variety of models designed by us and manufactured by our local hardware partners. At the moment, we are having conversations with Epson. While, in case our clients are interested in permitting the installation of Digital Displays in open areas, we will offer them to purchase from our variety of Protection Cases or build them using our open-source instructions.

Having infrastructure in Public Spaces, such as subway stations, bus stops, high affluence sidewalks, parks or tourist attractions would be the main goal of any locality, and it will require partnerships with authorities. The concretion of these alliances will be easier as more local people did already onboard and use DAO-OOH at certain spaces, of Community or Social type.

At certain point, after the onboarding of localities reaches a critical adoption of 0.1% from the local population, we will incentivize users to organize in order to formally solicit authorities to subsidize the DAO-OOH infrastructure: in terms of expanding Digital Display installation and . If authorities aren’t aligned, users will be let to choose a mix between crowd-funding and distributing funds from the treasury to this activities of growth.

Over 80% of the income streams from the Network will be governed by the community of local users. This includes, authorities’ subsidies or subscription, advertising mix and crowd-funding. ll these streams will be added to the Local Treasury, in the form of more FIAT-backed ‘LOCAL’ Tokens, that will serve through DAO to maintain infrastructure, incentivize new installations, as well as rewarding local contents and funding initiatives that approach local challenges.

The whole Tokenomics mentioned above, will promote the onboarding of users, communities and space administrators, even if they haven’t ever used Blockchain. This model may have elements to engage into mass-adoption, in a viral manner.

.

  • Our project seeks to empower socio-cultural ecosystems in LATAM localities.

  • We deliver tools for diffusion, monetization and participation to people from the cultural world, small and medium businesses and social initiatives through our web-app.

  • Our platform will be connected to physical devices present in public spaces where citizens will be able to get involved and curate the exposed contents.

  • These contents are key for the communication of citizens to local authorities, so that they know the problems and solutions of their community. They will also provide a updated directory of businesses, communities and initiatives that belong to the locality.

  • The above dynamics positively affect the welfare and local economy.

  • The project is aligned with the following KPIs of the challenge.

  • Proposers lead time on field research, Dapp development and implementation

  • Dapps impact on social/financial inclusion

  • Dapps impact on economic development

  • Diversity of Dapp’s use cases

.

  • Blockchain Education, easy onboarding inclusive-UI are much necessary on less-developed countries, such as Latinamericas. That’s why we’ve focused on making an onboarding process and translating our web-app to Spanish.

  • DAO Digital Displays need internet access; we aim to integrate small wifi-modems into the digital screen case, or connect it to other wifi sources (only if they’re stable and secure).

  • Energy consumption may be high is the Digital Display used isn’t LED or others more energy-efficient. Screens such as LCD could consume and warn the hardware.

  • ADA Liquidation into Local Money could be difficult for many users, that’s why we’re looking forward manners to directly liquidate their funds and work as a provisory exchange; or promote local businesses to accept ADA as a payment, with which we could exchange on higher volumes and less frequently.

  • The project may not fit with the agenda of the local authorities, who could deny our participation on spaces they administrate. Even though, our closer-coordination with local organizations could ease out installation as a community-led activation.

  • Local authorities may find uncertainty on the transparent and free-expression contents that could be displayed on the spaces they manage; denying our local participation or conditioning it.

  • Possible cryptocurrency regulations may interfere on certain Latin American countries.

  • There are vandalizing risks associated with the installation of Digital Display on Public Spaces; what pushes us to develop this initiatives together with the local-communities, so they care of about them and tell each other the positive impacts it may have.

  • Experiencing all these problems may be necessary to scale the web-app and its digital displays to other localities and countries; moreover when we aim to decentralizing its scaling.

    [FEASIBILITY]

Q4 2021 - Q1 2022: Funded with support from F6 + Start-up Chile

We, as Cooperativa Local, have spent over one year has studying which Blockchain uses could be the most impactful at emerging countries masses; basing our work on Chile. We found out that territorial and social solutions were the most desired; and that people had negative impressions about how local authorities approached them.

We got funded by F6 (https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/370246), and since then, we began designing our solution: an alpha-version social web-app that integrates Blockchain tools such as NFTs, DAO and Social Tokens on a geographically-centered experience where users, initiatives and contents from different localities can be created, explored, promoted and financed, both digitally (through user’s mobile devices) and physically (through Digital Displays installed at Cultural Centers, Universities, Metro Stations and Public Venues, in collaboration with local authorities and communities). Start-up Chile, a world’s top-10 accelerator program has backed-es up until we consolidate market-fit at Latinamerica: https://startupchile.org/en/

Q2, 2022:

Our plan is to partner with relevant local stakeholders to present the value proposition to local authorities. We want to connect with local authorities in Santiago de Chile and the Valparaiso Region for testing in high-afluency public spaces.

1. 300-user testing of our Alpha web-app features

2. 150-user UI testing both our Alpha web-app and OOH broadcast.

3. Activate 4 test OOH Digital Displays on different types of spaces: University Campus, Subway Station, Cultural Centre, Park.

4. Validate Proof-of-Concept.

5. Confirm UI Design of Beta web-app and OOH Broadcast.

6. Confirm manufacturing Design of OOH Digital Display and Hardware partner.

7. Confirm alliances with Administrators of Community and Social Spaces.

Q3, 2022:

1. Launch Beta DAO Social Platform, with operative functionality.

2. Start manufacturing our first 5 OOH Digital Display.

3. Confirm alliances with authorities of Public Spaces.

4. Confirm permanent Infrastructure deployment at Santiago de Chile and the 7 other most populated cities of the country.

5. Reach 500 users on our Alpha.

6. Activate 12 first permanent OOH Digital Display, not necessarily manufactured by us. Three in each of the biggest 4 Regions of Chile.

Q4, 2022:

1. Launch V1 (market-fit) Social web-app at Chile

2. International offering of ‘LOCAL’ Token.

3. Confirm alliances with administrators of Community and Social Spaces at 3 Latin American countries: El Salvador, Brazil and México.

4. Confirm our first Alliance with a Public Space authority outside Chile.

5. Reach 2.000 users on our V1 web-app

6. Activate 36 more DAO Digital Displays, so each of the 16 regions of Chile has -at least- two.

7. First DAO-governance round of funding for 4 local initiatives.

Q1, 2023:

1. Reach 5.000 users on our market-fit web-app

2. Activate 10 DAO Displays at El Salvador, Brazil and México and 8 on Chile; reaching 88 in total.

3. Totally Decentralize Governance of DAO-OOH at Chile.

4. Confirm first alliances outside Latin America.

Our success would allow Cooperativa Local to offer a broader democratization of the development process of any locality. For example, at a cultural space, a university and a public space in a location in Santiago and another in the region of Valparaiso, involving citizen participation. Consolidate collaboration and commercial agreements with these space administrators.

The possibilities after gaining the infrastructure cited could also serve to provide wellbeing phygital platforming for communities that share public and private spaces such as parks, institutions, avenues, touristic places, public transport, cultural centers, stadium, schools, neighbourhoods.. possibilities that would be greatly valued for them and the public and private authorities that control those spaces, but that find themselves on a need to regenerate their relationship with their fellow citizens in meaningful ways.

These new Local Blockchain opportunities will animate the global paradigm of which contents people use Blockchain, evolving from crypto-art, to social interaction, coordination and expression in general: opening a path for migrating Massive Social Media Corporations.

The path of Cooperativa Local aims to empower anywhere communities and everyday citizens while emancipating -together with Cardano- the democratization of societies’ expression and collectively chosen paths to approach past, present and future.

.

  • We, Cooperativa Local, are an operating start-up funded by F6 (https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/370246) , that over one year has studied which Blockchain uses could be the most impactful at emerging countries masses; basing our work on Chile. We found out that territorial and social solutions were the most desired; and that people had negative impressions about how local authorities approached them.

  • Big opportunities emanated from issuing friendly tokenization to enhance local social processes, such as decentralized decision making; challenge-signaling by local communities; rewarding initiatives that approach challenges; digitalizing local creatives into global NFT markets, and rewarding identity-related contents and initiatives to empower local social cohesion; findings we proposed at F7 with approval but without funding: https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/384259/

  • Since then, we began designing our solution: a social web-app that integrates Blockchain tools such as NFTs, DAO and Social Tokens on a geographically-centered experience where users, initiatives and contents from different localities can be created, explored, promoted and financed, both digitally (through user’s mobile devices) and physically (through Digital Displays installed at Cultural Centers, Universities, Metro Stations and Public Venues, in collaboration with local authorities and communities). • We built a Platform with all the tools needed, which we are going to be able to test in low-cost fashion at www.node.cooperativalocal.org. After Beta-testing, we aim to integrate CARDANO operability.

    SDG Rating

.

As we are part of Start-Up Chile Accelerator Program (which is funded by the Government of Chile) we do have comply and work towards SDG in a both committed and methodological manner. This Initiative for Activating ‘DAO Displays at Public Spaces of Chile and Latam’ will not just bring our project closer to the following 4 SDGs, but also all its users, such as Catalyst Projects and Initiatives which use them to approach further testing, validating and scaling of their solutions. The 4 SDGs complied are:

  • Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
  • 9.c.1 Proportion of population covered by a mobile network, by technology
  • 9.3.1 Proportion of small-scale industries in total industry value added

Cooperativa Local operation will continue with focus on achieving its product-market fit on Latinamerican market.

In order to do that, we are currently defining our brand and communication strategy to prepare for the public launch in September of our social web3-app on Deso Blockchain, as our last launch was mainly private with 60 cultural agents.

We will methodologically evaluate our product by periodically interviewing users to enhance its overall experience in time, as well estimate the development of new features such as POAPS and our B2B and B2G services related with the platform.

On top of that, we are studying the most suitable ways in which our social web3-app could include Cardano interoperability and onboard communities such as Catalyst, together with any ADA community related with Latinamerican purposes.

We presented our phygital piloting proposal to over 40 public agents from diverse chilean cities, together with Sernatur, the national touristic office. What let us to currently have 6 ongoing negotiation with authorities of chilean cities: Iquique, San Pedro de Atacama, Peñaflor, Las Cabras, San Esteban and Pucón.

On December, we expect to start executing a massive public space web3 pilot with one of these cities, whose public spaces may receive our digital monitors where our social web3 platform will stream local contents, and invite it's viewers to contribute also and join the web3 through our multi-chain social platform built on Deso Blockchain in collaboration with Cardano. The other cities, will be invited to proceed virtual piloting, where we will onboard their local cultural and artist communities.

Our team already received over 50 artistic, cultural and Web3 contents that we will broadcast on two televisions, which will interact with public at two physical pilots we are executing this 28th of October and 2nd of November at a the local Community Center AWKA (https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj5kBbVOitj/?hl=en) located at La Reina, Santiago de Chile.

There, we will expose Cardano Catalyst as a supporter entity, as well as Web3 education in general, and regarding our decentralized social platform that will re-launch on November.

In terms of our private space exploration, we have leads with at least 5 spaces, to execute more phygital pilots. The new collaborators might be DART Film Festival (https://dart-festival.com/), Area boutique coffee (https://www.instagram.com/), along with the LGBTIQANB+ Comunidiad Cultural Rogelia (https://instagram.com/ccrogelia/), and other diverse spaces.

On November, the last month before our platform's public launch at December, we activated 100 + cultural agents to adopt our platform, and exhibited over 200 of their creations and cultural works through our digital DAO Displays prototypes, on 4 occasions and to more than 300 assistants in total.

Two of these exhibitions were done on Chile's biggest cultural center, the Centro Gabriela Mistral (GAM) and the other two on AWKA Community, which serves as a cultural and recreational center located on La Reina, Santiago de Chile. Here you can take a look to the successful exhibition at GAM: https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17983430989665076/

This way, we have enhanced our validation thesis, that our upcoming platform which aims to let users showcase and commercialize their contents on digital displays located at renowned and crowded physical spaces (through DAO chosen dynamics on-chain) should success and become a new kind of cooperative technology and media that approaches practical efforts to integrate masses to adopt the Web3 and the Blockchain Networks we are collaborating with: Cardano, DeSo and Ethereum.

We have uploaded more evidence of our progress.

With the support of Cardano Catalyst, this week we have launched the beta-version of our platform: https://node.cooperativalocal.org/ and website: https://www.cooperativalocal.org/

It is the first decentralized social network developed specifically for Latinamerican creators and cultural fans. There, users can offer artworks, services and NFTs from multiple Blockchains (such as Cardano) to regional and global audiences, while at the same time they can choose to broadcast their contents to screens at subscribing physical spaces.

This platform complies with the 3 proposals through which Cardano Catalyst Community has trusted in us at F8:

It's built to be a Nation Building Dapp (F8 ID 8000131, $28.750).

It leads Cross-Chain Collaboration between Cardano, DeSo and multiple Blockchains (F8 ID 800013, $19.850).

It aims to validate and enable inter-operability with Cardano Blockchain communities and dapps (F8 ID 800012, $9.250).

It's features include: totally in Spanish (Portuguese soon). Easy to onboard and use. Integrated Wallet (FIAT soon). Multi Chain (upcomming Cardano inter-operability). Geographical filters (crucial for decentralized local adoption and content broadcasting). Decentralized Social Graph portable for all DeSo Blockchain dapps (Profiles, Communities, Posts, NFTs, Followers, Comments, Messaging, Like). Crypto Tipping. In-app P2P Crypto Transfers. Crypto Conversion: easily convert earnings to local money or $USDC and viceversa. NFT Market (Multi-Chain, Almost Zero Gas Fees, Social Reactions, Unlockables, Auctions, PFP Avatars, Intuitive).

We aim to be the world’s first phygital Web3 Social Platform. Our platform’s contents are streamed to screens at subscribed public and private physical spaces, in a educational approach to onboard masses. By decentralizing content exhibition at high affluence physical spaces, we aim to virally onboard local cultural ecosystems and fans into the Web3 opportunities. By showcasing the Web3 opportunities within collaborative cultural communities, we aim to transform the precarious paradigm of cultural work into shared wealth.

This version design and its onboarding process (key for latinamerican non-adopters) were based on the results of our alpha-version testing earlier this year. While the alpha-version was created to diagnose which features and processes would be needed to acquire and retain latinamerican creators, our focus of launching this beta-version and our marketing, is to test features and strategies to massively acquire both segments of creators and fans, to understand the better go-to-market strategies for Latin America and diagnosing sustainable revenue models to scale on the region.

We have mindfully prepared our team -and growing community- for this new launch stage, where we are aiming to reach the largest amount of potential users possible. Each member of our founding team has deeply involved themselves with the local cultural ecosystems and relates with large networks of creators, cultural workers and other collectives. We want to take the most advantage of these connections to focus our efforts on the acquiring of users and their retention.

We understand that we got to react quickly in terms of our product to find a market fit and go-to-market strategy, and that’s why we believe that right now it’s necessary for our team to grow its product development capacity, with talents that are up to the responsibility to participate on one of the largest Web3 efforts for the regional adoption.
