On-board users through WADA Hubs. These Hubs are located in several countries in Africa and are destined to grow over time. In-person collection of biometric identity and conversion into DIDs

Problem:

Know-Your-Customer is a stumbling block within the crypto space. Many regulators requires it without offering it

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Many DApp do not require KYC, but this is likely to be an exception than a norm if crypto is to be adopted in the mainstream.

Through the Goma Wada Hub, we offer to:

  • Collect identification data through the Registry (link to Registry project)

  • Supplement the collected data with biometric data (fingerprints and photo scans).

  • Save applicable information and biometric data (fingerprints) to the blockchain with proper encoding.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

The cardano ecosystem needs more thriving Dapps, products and integration that can be used by communities. KYC registry is a great decentralized alternative for registring customers. this gives more reasons to people to interact with the cardano blockchain and drive more adoption and innovation.

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

The main risk in the delivering of this project is the dificulties for people to give their biometric informations for the registry, we are working on a project of Genealogy registry in Goma funded in previous Fund 8, <https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/400234> that can be used as alternative for acquiring biometric informations.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

Roadmap

  • Review the kyc process to adapt it to the local context (1 month)
  • Website to generate information and visualisation tools for user tracing (3 months)
  • Create Issuing Certificates that Wada validators will be using to on-board users. (2 months)
  • On-board high school students at final examination centers by allocating 1 Ada in each wallet for early birds. Wallets holding DIDs are being developped for the Atala-Prism DID standard. (3 months at 3 sites - circa jan-mache 2023)
  • Offer wallet integration to reproduce the DID visually. Users can attach pictures and other metadata both off-chain (pictures,Fingerprints) and on-chain (upward and downward linkages, names) (2 months).
  • Offer Mobile Integration for handheld visualization (unknown date due to PAB integration challenges - but the team will implement it beyond the funding scope).

Milestones

  • Design kyc decentralized application for array-based DID serialization and reproduction.

  • Create and Offer Atala-Prism DID issuing keys for HUD's KYC services.

  • Graduating users are issued DID.

  • 5000 early birds who join are assisted to create their DID at the Wada Hubs and receive tokenized DID free-of-charge.

  • DApp generates fees for the creation of subsequent DID .

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

  • 3 x ten finger scanner with live finger detection ability : $2500 x 3 = $7500

  • 3 x Latitude 5430 Rugged - Configurable : $2700 x 3 = $8100

  • Webcams, laptop bags, SSD transfer disks: $1500

  • Internet and connectivity : $1000

  • 3 staff stipends for 6 month : 3 x $300 x 6 months = $5400

  • Atala Prism Identification Design to convert biometric information by extracting the pre-defined features from it (i.e. loop and whorls for fingerprints), combine it with hash values to form templates: $4000

  • Smart contract to create, retrieve and update biometric information (like improve template fit): $5000

  • Miscellaneous (supervision, reporting, documenting): $1000

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Non, because the autonomous nature of the project allows us not to come back for the funds because the start-up fund will suffice

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

  • Regular YouTube Video Updates

  • GitHub repositoty for open-source front-end DID validation for Kyc system

  • Update through Catalyst meetings and site for progress

  • Website with live user count updates as users are on-boarded at the kyc sites.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

  • Number of registered users (pulling from user portal?)

  • Depth of identification levels completed (ID schema templates for interoperability with Atala Prism)

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is a brand new proposal
