Please describe your proposed solution.

The Cardano-Ledger Live integration is a native project under Catalyst, originally initiated through a collaboration between the Cardano Foundation, a group of Cardano Ambassadors, Strica, and Ledger. This partnership, which began with Project Catalyst Fund 7, enabled the first integration of Ledger Live with the Cardano Blockchain, empowering thousands of Ledger users to manage their Ada through Ledger Live.

The project's continuation into Fund 9 introduced additional functionality, enabling Ada staking on the Cardano Blockchain through Ledger Live. This ongoing collaboration among Ledger, Strica, and Cardano Ambassadors has yielded significant benefits for all parties involved.

Currently, the open-source code for the Cardano-Ledger Live integration is maintained by Strica. However, to uphold the highest quality standards, professional maintenance, bug fixing, and updating capacity are required, which forcefully requires funding.

Since the development of the Ledger Live integration, Strica has maintained a consistent working relationship with the Ledger team. Ledger highly values Strica's services and recommends Strica for the maintenance of the Cardano-Ledger Live code. Ledger is keen on continuing its partnership with Strica and further building on Cardano.

However, it's important to note that while Ledger's responsibility lies in operating the Ledger platform itself, the maintenance of each blockchain's integrations is the responsibility of the respective blockchain. It's a common practice for ecosystems to fund the maintenance of their integrations with the Ledger platform, and Cardano is no exception.

This proposal seeks to secure funding for a 12-month period to maintain and update the Cardano-Ledger Live code in line with code updates from Ledger. This will ensure that Cardano asset holders can continue to use Ledger Live to manage their Cardano assets seamlessly. We will plan for next year's budget in the subsequent catalyst funding round. The funding for this proposal is critical as Ledger requires the third parties to do the integration maintenance and keep the codebase up-to-date, in fact, it is mandatory for a third party to commit a maintenance budget beforehand before the integration can go live on Ledger Live, Ledger has trust in the Cardano community that we shall be able to continue to maintain this integration.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

We are maintaining the open-source codebase that integrates ADA and native assets into Ledger Live. This means that we do the necessary work required due to the changes and upgrades at the Ledger Live codebase that includes the mobile wallet. Updating any security vulnerabilities, updating support for the latest device firmware and keeping the codebase up-to-date. The Cardano community will be benefitted by having ADA available in Ledger Live.

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

The success of the project will be measured by the seamless operation of the Cardano-Ledger Live integration, user feedback, and the timely resolution of any issues.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

The outputs and results of the project will be shared via the open-source Ledger Live - Cardano integration on the Ledger GitHub repository:

<https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-live/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed+cardano>

Additionally, Ledger supports the sharing of relevant work and progress through their social media platforms.

Furthermore, Strica uses their own social media presence to support the sharing range of relevant information

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

We have a proven track record of successfully completing projects while maintaining high levels of trust and accountability. Since the beginning of the Shelley period, our team has been actively participating in the Cardano ecosystem, and we have successfully constructed and maintained Cardanoscan, a widely used Cardano explorer.

In addition to Cardanoscan, we created Typhon, a highly recognised and user-friendly wallet that has received widespread acclaim from the Cardano community. This wallet is a direct result of our involvement in the Catalyst programme, which demonstrates our dedication to innovation and providing important community solutions.

We have also worked and delivered the Cardano ADA and native tokens integration within Ledger Live bringing the mass userbase of Ledger to Cardano and providing a safe and secure custodial wallet solution to the community.

Furthermore, we have contributed to the Cardano ecosystem through a number of open-source libraries, which can be found on our GitHub repository (https://github.com/StricaHQ). These libraries represent our commitment to providing developers with dependable tools and resources that conform to high-quality and transparent requirements.

Our experience, knowledge, and positive feedback from the community attest to our ability to deliver projects with a strong emphasis on integrity and responsibility. We intend to uphold these values throughout the course of our implementation.

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The main goal is to ensure the seamless operation of the Cardano-Ledger Live integration by maintaining and updating the open-source code. The feasibility of the approach is validated by Strica's proven track record and the successful operation of the integration since its inception

Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

Below we have divided the maintenance of 12 months into quarters as a milestone. The maintenance includes activities such as updating the Cardano ADA integration codebase to be compatible with new Ledger Live updates and helping the Ledger team with user-raised issues regarding the integration. Fixing newly discovered security vulnerabilities, updating integration codebase to be compatible with new device firmware and device apps, and more such updates.

Since the maintenance activities described above are not definitive, they are incurred and need fixing as we encounter them or when there is a need. We can not estimate what work specification will be carried out in which timeline. Hence we have decided to divide the maintenance activities into 3 months as a milestone as listed below, in which we can execute all sorts of maintenance-related tasks as required.

Q3, 2023 Milestone 1

Q4, 2023 Milestone 2

Q1, 2024 Milestone 3

Q2 2024 Milestone 4

Please describe the deliverables, outputs and intended outcomes of each milestone.

Each milestone represents a quarter of successful maintenance and updates to the Cardano-Ledger Live integration open-source code. The deliverables include bug fixes, code enhancements based on user feedback, and maintenance to accommodate new updates from Ledger.

Q1, 2024 Milestone 3

Q2 2024 Milestone 4

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

Each milestone requires 50,000 ADA, totalling 200,000 ADA for the entire project. The funds will be allocated to Strica for maintenance work.

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

The project team consists of Strica, who will be responsible for the maintenance and updates of the Cardano-Ledger Live integration, and the Cardano Ambassadors who will provide support and feedback.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The cost of the project ensures the continuous operation of the Cardano-Ledger Live integration, a crucial tool for many Cardano users. By maintaining this integration, we are enhancing the user experience and promoting the adoption of Cardano, which brings immense value to the ecosystem
