Solution

I will lead a translation project of the book “Cardano for the Masses” to Indonesian language (my mother tongue).

Good book, translated in their language, will attract lots of Indonesians to Cardano.

Problem

Cardano in Indonesia is slowly growing. Technical nature in article/docs & in English, are the blocking reasons.

The book gives a good intro, but needs to be translated for maximum effect and comfort.

Literature Localization - Translating "Cardano for the Masses" to Indonesian language

Please describe your proposed solution

The steps in general are as follow:

  1. reading the book cover to cover
  2. securing the permission from the original writer (This was done a while ago, by email)
  3. translating the book chapter by chapter (please see the milestones below)
  4. proofreading rounds
  5. put on sale
  6. marketing (launching events, giveaways campaign, etc.)

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

This is a book recommended by Charles Hoskinsons himself, and also received well by many of its readers, newbie and advanced.

The book itself is unlike most Cardano documentations, not very technical, but more into story told by the writer.

This good book, translated in Indonesian language, will be much more acceptable to Indonesian native speakers.

When the book is accepted easily, we let the content persuade Indonesians to know and love Cardano.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

The proposer is a team member of Eastern Hemisphere Townhall, and has done translation and proofreading for the team.

Here are the key factors that demonstrate their capability and accountability:

  1. Community Presence:
  2. Educational Content Creation:
  3. The Proposer is a native speaker,

The proposer has skills in the following areas that are necessary to complete the project:

  1. English and Indonesian translation, communication

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Milestone 1: Translate the first 2 chapters:

  • In the Beginning
  • What is Cardano

As well as editing, proofreading and adding links and pictures

Milestone 2: Translate chapter 3 and 4:

  • Proof of Stake
  • Shelley

As well as editing, proofreading and adding links and pictures

Milestone 3: Translate chapter 5 and 6:

  • Goguen
  • Plutus

As well as editing, proofreading and adding links and pictures

Milestone 4: Translate chapter 7 and 8:

  • Aiken Heart
  • Basho

As well as editing, proofreading and adding links and pictures

Milestone 5: Translate chapter 9 and Preface:

  • Voltaire
  • Preface

As well as editing, proofreading and adding links and pictures

Final Milestone: Final editing of the book, checking and proofreading the finished material

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Andy Sibuea: Team Leader, translators (English - Bahasa Indonesia), proofreader

Member of Eastern Hemisphere Townhall, contributing in translation and proofreading materials, many published in easterntownhall.com

(other team members will be recruited as needed)

Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources

Translation: equivalent to 25 ADA per page (as of 10 October 2024) = 25 ADA x 400 pages = 10,000 ADA

Proofreading: equivalent to 15 ADA per page (as of 10 October 2024) = 20 ADA x 400 pages = 8,000 ADA

Project Management: 6 months x 4 weeks x 3 hours x 75 ADA = 5,400 ADA

Marketing: 5 online events, 5 offline events

Speakers fee: (5+5) events x 150 ADA = 1,500 ADA

Speakers transport: 5 events x 75 ADA = 325 ADA

Giveaways: (5+5) events x 10 package x 15 ADA = 1,500 ADA

Event site (rent + F&B + etc. + 20-50 participants) = 5 events x 1200 ADA = 6,000 ADA

Zoom Pro: 6 months x 70 ADA = 420 ADA

Contingency: 6,805 ADA

TOTAL = 40,000 ADA

No dependencies

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a (first) single step.Lao Tzu

Cardano is a huge idea that is executed seriously with careful planning and great effort on technicals to ensure that it is useful for many people in the whole world, for a long time.

Due to that nature, there are serious Cardano supporting people writing articles and documentations also in serious manner, especially with those seriously technical terms. That last part can be scary for most people, especially for those that are new to blockchain realm.

Lucky we have John Greene created this amazing book that serves as perfect intro for newbies to Cardano. The book is non-technical and also does not dive deep into any concepts of Cardano, that to be honest, can be a bit scary and dizzying. But it will be just enough for most people who just want to get to know Cardano. Perfect.

This project will convert this book (in term of the language) for the Indonesians native speakers. We are talking about almost 300 million population worldwide, with roughly only 10 percents that is comfortable speaking and/or reading in English. Take the rest of it, we still have the market of more than 100 million. And assume that there are only 10 percents of them buying the translated book, and yet only 10% converted to Cardano/ADA users, that will account of 1 million people.

1 million new users today is about additional 20% to the current ADA accounts presented in ADAStat. That is how strong Cardano blockchain will be bumped up. A significant number in improvement, based on a rather low anticipation in the result. Compare that to the amount of ADA requested for this project, only at 40,000 ADA, which results in only a tiny 0.04 ADA/user acquisition cost.

Would you agree to call this a <s>good</s> great value for money?
