Solution

We have bought a 15 acre fish farm in Costa Rica which we will be a hub of innovation in the eco tech space and retreat for innovators.

Problem:

Many projects focus on technology education; we need working models in the regenerative space applying the possibilities of cryptocurrency.

[IMPACT]

Where we are located in Costa Rica is mild and stable all year, perfect for open air structures! We will use the funds to sponsor the building of a large community space to hold classes, gatherings, retreats, and events. This will be an open air covered structure with the center free from pillars.

While there is a main house and the cabins on site, there's not yet a dedicated structure for classes, events, etc. By creating this space, we far expand our capacity to be a hub for both the local community and the greater Cardano community. In addition, the structure will allow for people and practitioners im multiple fields (BJJ, yoga, musicians, and artists) to be educated, onboarded, and interacting in the Cardano ecosystem.

Our major risk is funding the community space. Minor risks include budget overruns due to site prep and structure size. We are seeking partners that are interested in access to such a retreat and community space for themselves or their project holders. This includes locally in Costa Rica for Brazilian JuJitsu, as well as those in the larger Cardano community.

[FEASIBILITY]

We have access to local labor, an engineer, and contractors. We are in process of getting estimates for such a space. Once we have funding in hand, we can give the budget to the contractor. We've recieved a ballpark estimate from the contractor that $20,000 should cover site prep, and the structure.

These numbers are a rough breakdown, as we will maximize our funds by negotiating with the contractor to the limit of what we can build!

Site prep $500

Concrete slab $1200

Round open sir structure $18300

Ariel is already on site working to identify options for the space, respectful of the farm, its cabins, and the surrounding natural jungle. He is also someone who will be teaching BJJ seminars and accepting ada in the community space. Thus he will be invaluable in directing the build. He has already been teaching the locals about cardano and web3 technology as he forges friendship and partnerships for us. Living Waters is quickly becoming a hub, but we need the communities backing to continue the momentum!

[AUDITABILITY]

We can provide contractor estimates within the next two weeks.

Within 4 weeks final design and site chosen and provided.

Final estimate/ contract presented one received.

Any required permits pulled, presented.

Signed contract presented.

Timeline on site prep, slab, and build presented as provided to us by contractor.

All work presented biweekly with photos , video, and a short written update.

Success is having a physical space that reflects the communities stance on doing good and improving the environment. Welcoming any of the people involved in this project, including the reviewers and voters, to visit and feel the impact were making is sharing the success. The Cardano community feels like a big open shelter where many of us are safe and having fun; let's add a physical space to that network.

We were not funded in the previous catalyst round.

cardano.ideascale.com/ c/idea/384240

We asked for funding to start a stake pool associated with our efforts on the farm. Ultimately it would be good to run our own stake pool, but at this time it's a better strategy to rely on our partner pools CHOSN and N2O. The experience of catalyst allowed us to meet many amazing people and projects!

This round, this challenge is a more direct fit to our immediate goals, and one we think the community will support.
