".lockdoc" - Global Documentation Verification and Services

Please describe your proposed solution

The Problem for Cardano:

  • Lack of public (average Joe) awareness of the utility of the Cardano Blockchain.
  • Limited perception of the utility of a robust and secure blockchain platform (such as Cardano)
  • Lack of mainstream legitimacy with major institutions, governments, and universities.
  • Lack of widespread applications growing the Cardano userbase.

The Problem Globally:

  • Documentation is one of the most limiting factors in assuring an equitable standard of living for a major portion of the global population
  • These populations include:
  • Undocumented individuals (unauthorized immigrants, refugee status individuals, indigenous peoples, etc.)
  • The elderly (through loss of documentation or expiration)
  • Individuals in extreme circumstances (war, natural disaster) where documentation is lost or destroyed.
  • Any individuals in need of digitizing or storing documentation.
  • Lack of documentation can lead to:
  • Lack of housing, lack of healthcare, lack of social services, lack of employment, etc.
  • Basic human rights are made more difficult to access, creating inefficiencies in institutions and humanitarian care.

The Solution:

We will create .lockdoc, which will be deployed as a Dapp that will appear on app stores as well as on a Web Client. Universal access is a major priority, as many of the individuals we are trying to help have extremely limited internet access.

  1. Users will download the free app from their respective “App Stores”.
  2. Users will generate an account with .lockdoc, using either an alphanumeric key phrase or biometric ID to secure their account.
  3. From there, users will be able to upload a fixed amount of data, limited to ID, Medical Records, or Legal Documentation.
  4. If users wish to have their documents verified, they may submit their documents in the ‘Verification’ portal. Our Verification process uses “Smart Contract” technology to act as an in-between for the government. Once the government has approved the document, .lockdoc will display a verification badge on the document icon showcasing its legitimacy.

The purpose of this app will be (with institutional support) to act as a way of recovering, protecting, and acting as a potential substitute for physical ID.

Our impact will be proven in many ways, but the primary goal is to establish a Cardano-based Dapp as a central tool for major institutions to use for daily tasks, with an acute emphasis on digitizing Identification. With more support from world governments, Cardano could become a major asset to multiple organizations and governing bodies.

The diagram depicts both ends of the app model, with registration and verification data included.

VERIFICATION:

The data being verified will include:

  • Basic ID (Driver's Licenses, Passports, Social Security Cards)
  • Medical Records
  • Diplomas

more will be included at a later date

Steps of Verification:

  • ID will be securely uploaded onto an encrypted network and stored.
  • Next, ID or documents will be submitted for verification with corresponding institutions
  • Once the information has been validated as accurate by the respective institution, they will allow the conditions of 'verification' to be met
  • Smart Contracts will allow a 'verification badge' to be displayed alongside digital documents on the user end.
  • The user end will have a digital documentation with government/institutional verification that will be just as good or better than physical ID.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

  1. Creating long-lasting cooperative relationships with mainstream institutions, governments and organizations. This metric of success will be measured by contracts and endorsements from these groups, which will increase the public image of Cardano as a whole, as well as internally promoting Cardano as a priority servicer for blockchain-based needs. The success of this project could also allocate a greater expenditure from these organizations and institutions towards blockchain-based initiatives.
  2. As the project becomes operational, the increased number of users will directly cause an increased number of wallets on the Cardano network, bolstering growth of both the Cardano network and the overall user base of the business.

With both of these metrics considered, the success of the business directly contributes to the positive image of Cardano as a premier blockchain servicer as well as directly increasing users on the Cardano network.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
