Solution

A tool to allow creators to use their NFTs as governance tokens to help inform the growth of their collections without paying for developmental costs of creating a working DAO from the ground up.

Problem:

Cardano at the time of writing this proposal has 56000+ policy IDs that represent collections of different utility, collectability and art with barely any collection having a working on-chain DAO.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

This feature would have two main elements that define it.

  1. A public facing DAO
  2. A creator facing dashboard of said DAO

Public Facing DAO

Each holder of an NFT collection would be able to use their NFT(s) as a governance token to help grow the project they are invested in. Users would be able to connect their wallets and navigate to a DAO section through the collection pages already set up for every Policy ID.

Within this section, users would be able to view and vote on proposals and choices presented by the creator in the first version of the DAO. Once executed we would work to expand user-intractability to submitting proposals to the DAO subject to certain rules defined by the creators.

Creator Facing Dashboard

Collection owners through their collection dashboards would be able to conduct the following actions.

Verison Alpha:

  1. Initiate a DAO.
  2. Set DAO voting rules and requirements.
  3. Create proposals.
  4. Notify holders of new proposals.

Version Beta:

  1. Define rules of proposal submission.
  2. Define detailed voting powers based upon quantity held.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

We truly believe in the ethos Cardano was built upon and we share the love of true functioning DAOs. Cardano has been viewed as a chain with NFTs that are accessible to the common man and whales alike and it stands in congruence with that fact that we lower the barrier for entry to decentralized governance.

Provision of such a service, free of development costs and running fees will enable holders and creators to design and think-up the future of what NFTs can do for both the Cardano ecosystem and the Crypto ecosystem at large

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Building this project, one of the main challenges we foresee is catering to the growth curve that the Cardano NFT Ecosystem has been exhibiting. With 56000+ policy IDs present at the time of writing this proposal, with further policy ids getting created per minute, we would have a requirement to build this as a vastly scaling entity with infrastructure that would continue to support collections for years to come.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

The project would be executed over a time period of 8 weeks. This time period is divided into further sections as follows:

  1. Wireframing and Structure Development - 1 Weeks
  2. Core Functionality Development - 3 Weeks
  3. Design Implementation - 2 Weeks
  4. Testing & QA - 2 Weeks

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

Our budgets are divided over two major categories, employee costs and overheads for the duration of execution. Our costs for both are as follows:

Employee Costs: $8000 USD/week

Overheads: $2000 USD/week

Overheads include hosting, unexpected delays, marketing costs, tutorial development and more.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

To execute the proposal we will be using 3 core resources dedicatedly while other employees of JPG will assist wherever need be. The main 3 resources would be 2 Full Stack Engineers and 1 UX/UI Designer.

The exact team members working on the project are decided as we go through the 4 stages but you can learn more about all our team members and their expertise at https://www.jpg.store/team

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

The submission is a one time funding request to execute the proposal. We do not foresee us returning to Catalyst for further funding in regards to this proposal.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

We build our tools and features in a modular manner while testing each part as it is built and retesting as it starts to communicate with other modules. We will be tracking these milestones internally and inviting our beta testers to provide feedback on usability and functionality as soon as our project reaches a state of readiness.

We are also driven to run the project in a user-centered manner, listening to our users and various stakeholders throughout the process to ensure the end product is what the community at large desires.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

A functioning DAO that allows both creators and holders of an NFT collection on Cardano to present proposals and make choices about the growth and development of the project in a decentralized and transparent manner.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is an entirely new proposal.
