The P2S Dapp allows parents/guardians to pay for their kids’ tuition with plastic waste. Each Kg of plastic is converted to ADA which is used primarily for tuition and educational materials of the kids

Problem

Africa generates 11 million tonnes of plastic waste yearly, how can we convert plastic waste into a resource that can fuel the tuition of hundreds and thousands of children aged 1-10 in Africa?

P2S DAPP: The Plastic to School app on the Cardano Blockchain

Please describe your proposed solution.

Proposal Title: P2S DAPP: The Plastic to School App on the Cardano Blockchain

Introduction:

In the heart of Africa, where 11 million tonnes of plastic waste pile up yearly, a unique solution emerges – the P2S Dapp. This isn't just an app; it's a catalyst for change, transforming plastic waste into a valuable resource that fuels the education of countless children aged 1-10.

The Problem:

Plastic waste is a looming crisis in Africa, but so is the crisis of children out of school, education should be a basic human right, but not so in Africa with 258 million kids out of school, the impact on this problem is indeed profound. The major reason most children lack access to education in Africa according to a report is due to financial constraints. The question became clear: How can we turn a problem into an opportunity, making plastic waste a currency for education?

The Solution:

Here comes our concept the P2S Dapp, a revolutionary platform allowing parents and guardians to contribute to their kids' education by paying tuition with plastic waste. For every kilogram of plastic, the app converts it into ADA, a cryptocurrency that will be used exclusively for tuition and educational materials of these kids.

Why It Matters:

This isn't just about reducing plastic waste; it's about democratizing education. The P2S Dapp addresses two critical issues simultaneously – environmental sustainability and educational accessibility. By empowering parents to contribute through plastic, we're not just cleaning up our environment; we're investing in the future of our children.

Implementation and Technical Features:

The P2S Dapp is more than just a transaction platform; it's a seamless bridge between environmental consciousness and educational empowerment.

  • User-Friendly Interface: A simple, intuitive design ensuring that parents, regardless of tech-savviness, can easily contribute.
  • Plastic-to-ADA Conversion Algorithm: A robust algorithm that accurately converts plastic weight to ADA, ensuring a fair and transparent exchange.
  • Blockchain Security: Leveraging Cardano's blockchain for secure transactions, protecting both contributors and recipients.
  • Educational Material Tracking: Transparent tracking of ADA usage, allowing contributors to see the direct impact of their plastic contributions on educational resources.

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: React for a user-friendly interface.
  • Backend: Node.js for efficient server-side development.
  • Blockchain Integration: Cardano blockchain for secure and transparent transactions.
  • Conversion Algorithm: Python for a reliable plastic-to-ADA conversion algorithm.

WHO WE ARE

We are a waste recycling company in the heart of Lagos, we have over 3 years of experience in the recycling industry, attached below are images from our recycling factory, where we recycle more than 5 tonnes of waste weekly. We have heard of the tremendous impacts of the blockchain and we want to use blockchain to create much more social good beyond just environmental good which we are currently offering to provide educational social good to our community.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.

Positive Impact on the Cardano Community:

Our project, the P2S Dapp, isn't just about converting plastic to ADA; it's about creating a ripple effect of positive change within the Cardano community.

Community Engagement and Environmental Consciousness:

Imagine a community coming together, not just for transactions but for a shared purpose – to reduce plastic waste and support education. The success of P2S will foster a sense of unity and environmental responsibility within the Cardano community.

Cardano's Social Impact Footprint:

We're not just making transactions; we're making a mark. The success of P2S will showcase Cardano's commitment to social impact, emphasizing that blockchain isn't just about financial transactions but about uplifting communities and contributing to a sustainable future.

Measuring Impact:

Increased Community Participation:

We'll measure the success by witnessing a surge in community participation. As more individuals engage with P2S, contributing plastic for education, we'll see the Cardano community actively involved in a real-world cause.

Positive Environmental Metrics:

Success isn't just in ADA transactions; it's in the decrease of plastic waste. Monitoring the reduction of plastic through P2S will be a tangible measure of the positive impact on the environment, showcasing Cardano's commitment to sustainability.

Educational Empowerment:

The real impact is in the smiles of children going to school because of P2S. As we witness more children gaining access to education through this initiative, we'll know that Cardano is not just a blockchain; it's a force for positive change.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Strategic Resource Allocation: We've strategically dispersed funds, meticulously targeting key project elements. Each ADA is purposefully allocated using global standard and waging it with our local average, ensuring maximum impact without unnecessary extravagance.

The budget mirrors a delicate equilibrium between high-quality development and fiscal responsibility. It's not about cutting corners but making judicious decisions to uphold excellence within budgetary constraints.

Transparent Contingency Planning: The inclusion of a contingency fund isn't a placeholder for excess; it's a transparent acknowledgment of potential unforeseen challenges. This ensures we're not just promising, but also prepared to deliver within the set budget.

Measurable Impact on Cardano's Essence: More than just a budget, this financial plan aligns with the potential positive changes the P2S Dapp can bring about. It's an investment in a future where Cardano isn't just a blockchain but a force for impactful transformation.
