In the past 3 months, we have grown a community around communication channels & a shared vision. Emerging from our social media channels, weekly meetings, monthly event, website, YouTube channel, & outreach both inside & outside of Catalyst is

The Global Problem

Due to increasing activism and consumer consciousness, trillions of dollars are being pledged towards mitigating and reversing Climate change. Our current systems are inefficient. There exists a widespread lack of transparency, community trust & impact on a global scale. Solutions being proposed by world leadership are centralized & do not work for everyone. Where do communities in need turn?

A Scalable Solution

Two disruptions to our current situation on earth can not be ignored… Climate Change & Blockchain technology. One is a wicked problem; the other is positioned to become a major contributor to the solutions. The Cardano blockchain is sustainable while facilitating the world-wide scalability, transparency & traceability essential for the effective allocation of resources. These capabilities increase the trust needed to motivate off-chain communities to choose Cardano, the blockchain network best positioned to facilitate solutions for those concerned about carbon footprints.

Detailed Problem Description:

A community-driven project like Catalyst needs community organized events & meetings to connect ideas & initiatives, discuss & solve problems, & initiate collaboration. Without moderation, facilitation, coordination, & an action plan, energy & time is consumed by discussions without reaching a conclusion or direction for implementation.

Current & Proposed Solution:

To address these issues, Cardano4Climate began to host Project Catalyst after town hall breakout rooms early in Fund 6. These informal get togethers have grown into weekly 90 minute meetings before town hall. In collaboration with other hubs from the wider community, we include relevant information related to the processes in each stage of the current Project Catalyst Fund. Taking Catalyst and Swarm lead, we will begin hosting breakout rooms at these meetings as our community & topics grow.

We organized, hosted, & recorded our first "Catalyst Sustainability Goals" event 11-23-2021 in collaboration with WADA, Catalyst Swarm, Catalyst School, Climate Neutral Cardano.

Impact on the Challenge, Catalyst, Cardano & the Climate:

The 'F7: Community Events' challenge is seeking ideas to increase meaningful participation among the community in the next six months? By providing the time & space for connecting individuals & teams, forwarding important announcements, collaborating with other Hubs, moderating various discussions on our Discord server & Telegram channel, hosting meetings and an organized event, Cardano4Climate has been directly addressing this challenge for several months now.

Cardano4Climate realizes an opportunity for Cardano to combine new blockchain models with ground-up, community driven challenges and solutions arising from climate change. Cardano gives power to all. Through Catalyst, we have access to an ecosystem of aligned individuals, as well as the conditions necessary for the creation of regenerative systems to heal us and our environment.

We are a global community of over 150 members, grown in 3 months around communication channels, meetings & a shared vision. 8 active core team members.

In the past 3 months we have hosted several Project Catalyst after town hall breakout rooms. Since mid October, we have hosted weekly 90 minute zoom calls. We moderate a Telegram channel & Discord server with more than 150 members as well as maintain a YouTube channel & website.

Budget:

Organization, preparation, & facilitation of 12 weekly meetings (90 minutes each) and 3 monthly events (3 hours each) including the following activities:

• Promote & communicate events & meetings

• Document & record event & meeting activities for duplication & transparency

Calculation:

• Each weekly meeting is calculated at $215.33; 12 meetings at $215.33 = $2584
• Each monthly event is calculated with $532.33; 3 events at $532.33 = $1597

Total Budget = $4181

Transparency

We are committed to improving the transparency of our process & decisions with increased accessibility of this information to all of our stakeholders. We have initiated a public GitHub repository where all ongoing tasks and actions will be tracked regularly. During the next fund, we will hold and record weekly planning meetings and record issues and resolutions on GitHub.
