This proposal is for the next 3months

Background

During the past 6 months, I have been working on the Cardano China Info Hub initiative. The main objective was to grow awareness, foster trust, get people interested in investing in Ada, and encourage people to join the Cardano community. It has been a great success, today the Chinese-speaking Telegram group has 1000+ members, additionally, it is a high-quality community where most members are rational and have a long-term vision in Cardano.

Current Challenges

The challenge at hand, however, is to scale up. In the past, I have mostly relied on myself in terms of content creation, Telegram moderation, Q&A, and community updates.

But as the community grows, I observe the following challenges and opportunities:

Telegram moderation: we need someone to co-mod the chat group, and to answer questions from the community
Discord presence: more and more people are needing a niche channel of communication where they can ask questions of different categories: staking, CNFT, Defi, community updates. And telegram is not the ideal platform. We need people to grow and mod the Chinese-speaking Discord group
Higher visibility of the educational content: a more professional marketing and SEO strategy is needed for Youtube and Bilibili channels so more people can see the content
Too many things to keep track of, more professional assistance is needed to keep things organized.

A new platform of growth potential

A content platform: Xiaohongshu, a social media platform with 300 million registered users, with 70% of the users born after the 1990s, 80% of the users are females, is observed to be very welcoming of crypto and NFT-related content.
Unlike many other social content platforms, it has lesser censorship when it comes to crypto-related content. The audience there has demonstrated a strong interest in investing in NFTs as well. So far the saturation is still low. This is a large untapped potential market to grow Cardano: the female audience.

Proposed Solution

Continue the current video content production 6-8 videos a month, each 8-14minutes long on both Youtube (international viewer) and bilibili.com (domestic Chinese viewer)
Start an account on Xiaohongshu for text- and image-based content to educate more people about Cardano, 2 text/image posts per week about staking, CNFT, Cardano projects, Cardano community.
Spend extra time engaging with the audience/reader comments on the content platforms

Raise awareness of Cardano in the Chinese-speaking community and educate the community about the Cardano ecosystem, so that people can understand Cardano and invest in the ecosystem.

How to find out these qualitative results? - by conducting polls on community posts and group polls

3. Feasibility

66 videos, 1000+ telegram group members, 240 days, a highly active community. I have proven the feasibility and potential of growing the Chinese-speaking community. I want to keep building this community by getting the Catalyst funding to continue this full-time.

FAQ

Why do you emphasize the Chinese-speaking community, not the Chinese community?

Chinese-speaking people are located all over the globe, not limited to China. A large portion of the current community is Chinese-speaking people from regions such as the USA, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore. The aim is to bring them together and grow an inclusive Chinese-speaking Cardano community.

What is the overall sentiment about Cardano and the cryptoban?

Many Chinese people have gone through different China bans and they have their methods of dealing with it. When it comes to Cardano, the general impression is that there is a huge lack of Chinese content about it, everything from the project itself, to staking, to recent updates, the Chinese information is very limited.

What are the topics the Chinese-speaking community is most interested in?

For most people it is staking, so far, although this might change in the future depending on the development of Cardano. Recently many people are passionate about Cardano defi and are eager to participate. A lot of others are into CNFTs and make big investments in them. Some people are interested in the technical and/or the governance aspect of Cardano. It is quite diverse.

Why do you want to grow the female presence and post content on Xiaohongshu?

Only 7% of my viewers are females, there is a huge untapped potential from female investors and developers. As for Xiaohongshu, it is the largest social media platform for Chinese-speaking females and I have observed a high level of friendliness towards crypto and NFT-related content. Additionally, I will use Xiaohongshu as a backup platform. With the uncertainty of China's bans, it is ideal to have more than one channel of communication.

Why are the hourly prices different, even though they are done by the same person (the proposer)?

Tasks such as conducting research and turning the research into video scripts require a high level of cross-domain expertise and skills, including English/Chinese translation/interpretation, Cardano-specific knowledge, additionally, text and content writing skills to make the content engaging and easily understandable. Such tasks are valued higher than for example, commenting and responding to community posts.
In a nutshell, I believe it is fair compensation for the work and skills needed to complete the work, naturally, the community can decide in favor or against it by using their vote.
