Detailed Plan

The project plan can be divided into 3 phases, loosely coupled with the 3, 6 and 12 months marks.

Phase 1: Bootstrap (2 months)

  • rapid prototype for an MVP platform to show to producers.

3-month success definition: mockups/UI interface for business and clients ready to start PR work / business relations. Technical architecture defined. Initial prototype backend.

Phase 2:
In parallel:
Business:

  • onboard new wineries into the project by showing them the advantages of open access to their wines in the form of greater reach of their products and increased investment value of their wines by effect of increased liquidity.
  • Initially, we will work with local premium wineries in our area (Central Italy)
  • 1 internal salesman (sommelier) (1300 USD / months + provisions, in line with Italian salaries) + part time external consultant with background in wine business (~1 day/week for 3 months 1500 USD / month).

Technical:

  • refine the technical implementation and prepare for launch on Cardano.

6-month success definition: Relations established with at least 1 winery, working prototype smart contract deployed on Cardano testnet.

Phase 3: Launch (Estimated Fall 2022)

  • Deploy smart contract on Cardano mainnet
  • Marketing campaign to support the launch (1500 USD)
  • Publicly launch the platform with the first set of participating wineries
  • Open to the market the first batch of wine allocations / vintages.

12-month success definition: Multiple rounds of allocations / vintages in the open market on sale. Growing list of participating producers/customers.

Key metrics to measure:

  • total value of products traded in key timespans
  • number of active customers (traded at least once in the last 12 months)
  • number of active wineries

Important: We will request funds only for covering marketing/sales costs, as we will directly fund the rest of the expenses since we deeply believe in the project.
