Solution

A state-of-mind as a service (SoMaaS) (based on existing MVP) for capturing user state-of-mind by recording & linking neuro/biometric/psychometric data to user wallet and on-chain activity on Cardano.

Problem:

Organizations/products/DAO's routinely run without a proper understanding of user behavior, profiles, needs, and wants — due to lack of ways to utilize easy measurement tools into products.

[SOLUTION] Please describe your proposed solution.

Neuralprint is a novel brainwave-based authentication technology (patent-pending) that utilizes EEG and AI to identify brain states. The present proposal meets Catalyst Solutions category guidelines, as an MVP is already public on Cardano blockchain (thanks to an inaugural successful and closed-out F8 project), which is using psychometrics to mint NFTs on Cardano.

The present proposal will add an additional feature set to the Neuralprint product, enabling organizations and DAO's to gauge the effect of their products and culture on users, creating a "neural fingerprint" ("neuralprint") using our state-of-mind as a service technology. Orgs and startups will be able to have professional neuroscientists record brain and biometric activity while undergoing exposure to or usage of their product or tool. In the present stage of the project, this can be accomplished without the org requiring neuro/biometric hardware on their end (this is is for a later stage). Initially, we will reduce adoption hurdles by having the hardware work outsourced to neuroscience professionals (at competitive, discounted rates) with whom we are already engaged. This will result in a one-of-a-kind offering (not only in blockchain, but on the whole tech market) that is also as frictionless as possible. This will suit organizations and developers who want to test their products, do marketing research, and/or incorporate brain and psychological data into their offerings in an organized (on-ledger) manner. In the future, as costs make business sense, slim form-factor brainwave and biometric devices (that we are already working with) will be offered to users in a systematic/programmatic way (e.g. subscription) to be able to conduct their own data capture. We are doing our part to decentralize neuro/biometric data capture. (We view user hardware acquisition as not primary or critical at present, as market developments may mean that we don't need to be concerned with offering hardware. Therefore, we are focused on the algorithms and the service itself, which can scale as the market develops.)

Use-cases can include and are not limited to:

  • Crypto trading (i.e. exchanges/portals wanting to understand user psychology while trading);
  • Game developers (user responses to games);
  • Musicians/producers (user responses to music);
  • Psychedelic explorers and therapists (wanting to link a psychedelic experience to the blockchain);
  • Blockchain/crypto orgs (wanting to incorporate brain and psychological data into their offerings.
  • And more

The project lead is Dr. Gabriel Axel Montes, PhD, who has a an expert background in neuroscience, AI, blockchain, and consciousness research and practice.

This proposals comes on the heels of three directly relevant previous successful and closed-out Catalyst proposals (1 in F7, 2 in F8), all executed by the proposer. The present proposal builds upon previous work.

Proposer Achievements to-date:

  • Neuralprint MVP created (F8)
  • Neuralprint Patent-pending Status
  • Pathform biometrics for consciousness development MVP (F7)
  • Pathform enhanced with Neuralprint MVP (F8)
  • DAOJob/Gov3: Cardano governance dashboard (F7 & F8)

See Successful and closed-out Neuralprint F8 MVP project for more background information about the present proposal, here.

(We have shared links to Mindtrade.ai, which is state-of-mind as a service geared toward the specific application of crypto trading, with a variation of the customer being crypto exchanges. We share this as an example of a particular use-case application of Neuralprint technology.)

    [IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.

This is a cutting-edge, first of its kind, project – and it is being developed for Cardano.

The proposed project brings a novel technology to Cardano, making Cardano a first-mover chain in the space. This proposal poises Cardano to be used in a key technology in the world. It also builds on and adds functionality to existing products (successful, closed-out proposals from F7, F8).

This proposal thereby fulfills criteria of Cardano usefulness, including the following metrics:

  • Increasing the number products available for the community to use that help to enrich the ecosystem with new use cases.

  • Increase the number of integrations that bring existing solutions together for a more seamless and connected experience between different products.

  • Increased quality of existing products & integrations through improvements and new functionality.

    [CAPABILITY & FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

This project comes on the heels of 4 previous Catalyst proposals that have all be successfully completed and closed-out. This offers a measure of predictability for proposer trust and accountability in delivering on this proposal.

The project is based on neuroscience and blockchain, two of the proposer's areas of expertise. Feasibility is based on the technical achievability of the R&D, which we have already been doing successfully since Catalyst F8. The main objectives are to be a first mover in the space to solve future blockchain issues that are foreseen.

[Project Milestones] What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

  • Commenced initial design of state-of-mind as a service (SoMaaS) feature set

Output: Progress report

Acceptance criteria: Output describes the progress and technical achievements/learnings developed.

(Due to the research nature of the project, it is a challenge to predict the precise advancements that will be made with each milestone, which is why we will utilize a standard progress report and technical outline format, which is sufficiently flexible to accommodate a range of advancements across all the milestones.)

    [BUDGET & COSTS] Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

R&D and Project Management: $42,000 ($7,000 x 6 months)

Engineering: $52,320 ($8,717 x 6 months)

Biometrics hardware: $11,400 (1x slim form-factor EEG headset)

Social media / Marketing: $10,200 ($1,700 x 6 months)

Total: $112,080

An exchange rate of $0.38/ADA (reflecting the rate at the time of this writing) has been used for budget calculation.

[VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

All costs will be commensurate to majority of wages and capital required to execute. Due to the high value-add scientific and engineering work required of the proposal, costs are above that of the average proposal; due to the nature of the work and in order to rapidly secure the human resource talent and equipment needed to conduct the work.

All previous work on this project has been centered in Western countries, now with Western (US)-based patent work, and thus costs account for Western wages and inflation.
