With the idea taking shape since 2021, during 2022 and into part of 2023 Sustainable ADA undertook a great journey in creating the very first Cardano Impact Report 2023 “Recalibrating Value, Identity & Impact Through the Blockchain”.

We propose to create another edition. The Cardano Impact Report 2024. A comprehensive publication that aims to capture and showcase the positive impact generated by the Cardano community, and especially the unsung heroes who deserve a spotlight.

Who will benefit?

“For those who are not in the Cardano community, this report is not just about Cardano. This is about an awakening to the wider global issues we face today, and a clear call to action, that our time has come to address these issues, head on. The report offers a path forward towards a sustainable and equitable future. We propose to create a publication that will enable diverse and multisectoral stakeholders to be armed with up-to-date knowledge and resources from the grassroots and the top down institutions around the world. This publication will be a valuable resource whether for a crypto veteran or a person new to the sector, but curious to understand how the dots connect between Cardano4Good and real world impact, and for those looking for inspiration and a way to get involved with projects having a positive impact.

What is it?

The Cardano Impact Report is a comprehensive publication that aims to capture and showcase the positive impact generated by the Cardano community. It is designed as a book NFT (Non-Fungible Token) to leverage the unique features of blockchain technology, ensuring authenticity, transparency, and immutability of the content.

The 2024 edition will showcase art and original pieces from the Cardano4Good, web3 and impact community, and integrate the CIP-68 datum metadata standard to facilitate our plans to have dynamic NFTs.

Why it's important for Cardano, the community, and beyond?

Some may say that today, we live in both, the best of times and the worst of times.

With forest fires recently in Canada, protests against injustice in Paris, and the planet heating up to unprecedented levels…the world is on fire.

Scientists have warned of worsening global warming.

The Earth is getting so hot that temperatures in about a decade will probably blow past a level of warming that world leaders have sought to prevent. According to the United Nations, we are in a “code red for humanity.

BUT, it’s not all doom and gloom, and there are solutions that exist today.

• The Cardano Impact Report 2024 will play a crucial role in highlighting and celebrating the social and environmental solutions and outcomes achieved by the Cardano community.

• It shall serve as a testament to the transformative power of blockchain technology and its potential to drive positive change in various sectors, including finance, governance, sustainability, and social impact.

We believe that Cardano is making a step towards a world where new mechanisms of decentralized cooperation and consensus can start to replace the cheap-at-all-costs and business-as-usual structures that are degrading the world we live in.

The Cardano Impact Report 2024 will play a crucial role in highlighting and celebrating the social and environmental impact and outcomes achieved by the Cardano community. An Annual Report/Book

The Cardano Impact Report 2024 shall be published annually as a book NFT, providing a consolidated account of the progress, milestones, and impact generated by the Cardano ecosystem throughout the year. By adopting an annual format, it ensures that the Impact Report remains up-to-date, relevant, and reflective of the community's continuous growth and evolution.

Project Highlights of the Cardano Impact Report 2023 First Edition:

Sustainable ADA completed an in-depth analysis of the Cardano4Good community. We highlight over 65+ projects building within the Cardano and Singularitynet ecosystems, and those working to create a more equitable world for all through blockchain.

We showcased the values-driven approach of Cardano and its community's commitment to sustainability, regeneration, social impact, governance, and innovation. We highlighted projects that exemplify the potential of blockchain technologies and their ability to foster transparency, traceability, and trust, ultimately leading to meaningful change.

We featured artist and permaculture educator and activist Brenna Quinlan with cover art as part of our Legacy Edition Collection, and art within the report as part of our general collection. We also featured limited edition photography from our Sustainable ADA team to form part of the limited edition Legacy Collection (Cole, Affendi, and Razali).

Bring new people to the community and activate current community members through engagement, education, and awareness raising and grassroots community involvement.

Solve a key problem and issue of addressing the gap in knowledge and understanding of the use of Cardano for real world impact and evidence of use case application.

Awareness raising through education and prevention of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) by arming stakeholders with a researched and accessible document.

Advocacy and Policy (holding companies and stakeholders accountable, lobbying for pro dlt/blockchain/crypto friendly laws and regulation to support innovation for positive social and environmental impact etc)

Direct Services with the use of this report as a resource (eg: education, consulting, advice, community support, networking, future utility and rewards for holders of the report as a NFT)

It will go through this iteration and then be shared with featured partner projects for their final review and sign-off.

This report once finalised in digital format, can be promoted over social media and partner networks.

We created the Cardano Impact Report 2023 which showcases over 65+ social and environmental impact projects from the Cardano ecosystem.

Month 1-2 Milestone #1:

• Develop a Sustainable ADA Repository of Cardano Impact Projects starting with Impact Report 2023.
• Create new partnerships and invite community members to join the “impact project onboarding” team
• Create a go to market and promotion strategy plan
• Create a detailed plan for Impact Report 2024 and start a repository for new projects to add to this updated edition - (in connection with partners Positiveblockchain)
• Create a repository for current projects that have changed course or who have had significant updates/improvements to report on
• Partnerships formed(with a university, a Publishing agency)

Milestone #1 Deliverables:

• Create the repository and share updates on new projects
• Onboarding material for new projects and a portal for members to join
• Create a plan with onboarded teams and projects and delegate changes and advancements

• Begin the research phase of Impact Report 2024 with weekly meet-ups and community sessions
• Launch the editing/additions model
• Meet with artists and create a plan for onboarding artwork to our report

Our main deliverable is the Cardano Impact Report 2024 in the form of an ebook and NFT.

We will measure the completion of the report, and its chapters, section by section.

Our milestones will be documented and tracked using Google suite (google docs, google sheets etc), and be open for collaborative editing and review with team members and contributors.

As a result of our work, we intend to achieve the publication of the second Cardano Impact Report, with the support of the Cardano and impact community at large.

By launching the completed report as an ebook and NFT we will have achieved one of our goals.

In the run up to the report launch and following its launch, we will follow up by supporting featured projects and partners to promote the book in their communities. Additionally, we will be giving projects a platform to speak about their impactful work by being guest speakers on our weekly Twitterspace co-hosted with Cardano Spot on Thursdays - “Cardano for Good”.

Catalyst Journey:

We joined Project Catalyst, Cardano’s decentralized innovation fund, during fund 4. After applying and learning from both funds 4 and 5 along with lots of support from Cardano community members and teams, we were able to construct a strong proposal together that focused on our goals and ambitions for Sustainable ADA, and the Cardano community’s goals. We submitted a proposal focused on helping Grow Cardano, and Grow Africa.

With this funding, we had more capacity to focus on researching and sharing stories from change-makers in Africa and the diaspora, who are engaging with Cardano, creating a better tomorrow, today.

Thanks to the Cardano community and the use of their voting power from holding and staking ADA, we successfully secured the funding we were seeking. This helped us to take significant steps towards fulfilling our vision and mission having secured these crucial and helpful funds.

Through our time in the Project Catalyst ecosystem, we have been able to create a lot of strong and exciting partnerships with projects and businesses all across the world. This has led us to develop new ambitions for the work we do and to expand beyond education.

Given the first report we published was done voluntarily and unpaid, we are hoping with the support of the Catalyst community, we are enabled to continue our work with financial sustainability to spotlight the positive impact initiatives in the Cardano community and cardano4good ecosystem.

As we intend to sell the Cardano Impact Report as a NFT, we intend to reinvest the ADA into Sustainable ADA, pay for our overheads and incentivise further contributions and ecosystem collaboration and growth. This will lead to a positive return on intention, allowing us to continue our activities in awareness raising, advocating with research and evidence based decision making and impact monitoring, evaluation, verification and reporting.

The costs are justified and a modest ask given the average salaries for a graduate, and postgraduate researcher and Teacher in our sectors, and given our track record to date based out of the USA (Salt Lake City) and western Europe (London and Paris).
