The Cardano community leans heavily toward North America and Europe. Growth elsewhere requires our support and initiative as a community. By providing these spaces and resources we are able to increase Cardano's reach into East Asia and reach a passionate group of people.

Since Fund4, I've created a Chinese-speaking community, people have been coming together and forming a community around Cardano. They have stayed engaged and many have taught friends about Cardano.

Target demographic

Chinese-speaking people globally who are interested in learning about Cardano but have limited access to resources and language skills. People are typically located in Taiwan, HK, USA, and Malaysia. Only 6.8% of them are Chinese residents.

Impact

For Cardano, this project will help expand its global reach to one of the biggest population groups in the world. It is highly valuable for Cardano's prestige and lays a solid foundation for its future expansion
This project will provide access to high-quality information and education for the aforementioned audience
This project will also offer a healthy community for the audience to share knowledge, ask relevant questions and give feedback

Solution:

- Provide high-quality information and education by producing video content that is published on Youtube, plus community posts, articles and other forms of educational content

-Maintain the current community by building a strong Discord/Telegram presence

-Empower community members to be unofficial Cardano ambassadors and spokespersons by educating and communicating with those who have the capabilities and the willingness

This will address the challenge through education, community building, local community growth and member empowerment.

The outcomes can be showcased and communicated by showing the number of new members who joined the community (Youtube and Telegram communities)

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Risks that are beyond the proposer's control:

Market: bear market and its low sentiment will decrease people's interest in learning and engaging. This is already observed in the last funding round (F8), where the Telegram growth rate was 8.3% and Youtube growth rate was 2.4%
Political: if Taiwan, HK, USA, and Malaysia (main countries where the community members come from) enforce a crypto ban (unlikely but still a risk), this will be highly damaging

The challenge that can be addressed/prepared for:

Financial: not getting funded to work on this project.

How to mitigate: the proposer will still continue the work but will reduce the scope of the work (for example, making fewer videos than compared to if funded.)

Trolls/anti-Cardano speech/spamming bots entering the Telegram community

How to mitigate: use capable co-moderators to monitor the group and keep it organized, and deploy anti-spam bots to keep away the bots

In short, this is a straightforward project and has been successfully delivered before, I've also been continuously working on this since last year. I do not foresee further challenges or risks beyond what has been listed above.

Since this is a continuation of an existing project, the action plan for the future three months will be identical:

Before you read the budget, please read the below explanations:

-Why are you only uploading video content to Youtube in this funding round, you used to upload to the Chinese domestic video platform as well?

Because after the China crypto ban, Chinese video platforms have been heavily censoring crypto-related content. Content constantly is being deleted or hidden. Moreover, the majority of the Chinese-speaking community consists of people from places like Taiwan, HK, Malaysia and USA, China only makes a small part of it, so it is a better use of the time and resources to focus on Chinese-speaking people outside of China.

- Why are the rates higher than normal Chinese salary?

For a few reasons

* I do not live in China, I live in the UK which has a significantly higher cost of living

* The price of paying for the group of people with the required cross-domain knowledge (Chinese-English skills, Cardano knowledge, video production skills, community management experience, etc), plus a proven track record of high-level delivery quality, will add up to a very high price level.

In contrast, I am capable of doing all of them myself, which is cheaper for the community than hiring a team of people with different skills.

It boils down to the value created vs price quoted, and if the community thinks the value (educating and onboarding Chinese speakers around the globe) is worth the price.

Relevant KPIs:

Subscriber numbers on Youtube: 4% increase from now = 3697
Chinese Telegram group members: 6% increase from now = 1653

Why is the goal set to be 4-6%?

The main reason is the bear market sentiment. It is observed that a lot fewer people are interested in cryptocurrency and in extension Cardano. The growth is significantly lower.

However, it is important to continuously build and educate so that when the bull market comes back, a solid foundation has been built for community growth.

It is a continuation of the initial F4 proposal 'Cardano China Info Hub', ID 400007.

The goal is straightforward as the title suggests, continuing the work of educating and building the Chinese-speaking community.
