Research n Compare Non Open Source to Open-Source options for a Community Database and systems.

Create a Framework that would allow developers access to data so they can build and innovate quickly.

Problem:

Developers have expressed the need to move from Idealscale to a Community Managed System.

Lack of API’s and fast access to all current Catalyst data inhibits innovation within our builder community.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Moving away from Ideascale and having a Community Managed Database and Proposal System will allow for more rapid and innovative development of Community Projects, no waiting on API’s or access to data because it will be operated and managed by the Community.

VOLTAIRE will not be given to this community, we will have to EARN IT. The First Step is to create and manage our proposal processes and systems.

VOLTAIRE Governance

The Voltaire era of Cardano will provide the final pieces required for the Cardano network to become a self-sustaining system. With the introduction of a voting and treasury system, network participants will be able to use their stake and voting rights to influence the future development of the network.

For the Cardano network to become truly decentralized, it will require not only the distributed infrastructure introduced during the Shelley era but also the capacity to be maintained and improved over time in a decentralized way. To that end, the Voltaire era will add the ability for network participants to present Cardano improvement proposals that can be voted on by stakeholders, leveraging the already existing staking and delegation process.

To fund the future development of the network, Voltaire will also see the addition of a treasury system, whereby a fraction of all transaction fees will be pooled to provide funds for development activities undertaken following the voting process.

When both a voting and treasury system are in place, Cardano will be truly decentralized and no longer under IOHK's management. Instead, Cardano’s future will be in the hands of the community, who will have everything they need to grow and evolve Cardano from the secure, decentralized basis established by IOHK.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

When complete, a Catalyst Community Proposal System with its Community owned Database will allow developers the Freedom to access more data which will encourage innovation and development.

The Community of Developers will have the Freedom to be Innovative with the entire process.

Giving rise to Ideas that we have yet to imagine.

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Estimating Sufficient Funding and Time is the main risk.

I have engaged a Programmer if something were to happen with his engagement I would need to replace his skills.

Community Engagement and Acceptance is always a risk.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

Detailed plan:

Week 1 - Review and compare Non Open-Source to Open-Source options for Application Development for front end design.

Week 2 - Review and compare Non Open-Source to Open-Source options for Community Database.

Weeks 3 & 4 - Present findings to the Community Developers for input and feedback on design and function. Would seek input and feedback via After Town Halls, Swarms and Community Zoom meetings.

Weeks 5 thru 8 - Design a Framework for using the best selected options for the Catalyst Proposal Process.

Share the results with Catalyst Community.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

Budget Breakdown

(1) Project Management – 1000 USD

(2) Programmer Front End Design – 6500 USD

(3) DBA Database Design – 7500 USD

(4) Community Rewards for Testing – Input – Feedback – 3000 USD

(5) Unexpected cost – 1500 USD

Total Budget – 19,500 USD

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

Joey Chessher - Project Management, Planning and Execution, (see above for PMP Certification and Linkedin profile)

Sean Sheikholeslam - Programmer and Database design, (see attached resume)

Both will work together on analysis of non-open source and open-source software and database options.

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Yes, when complete this will be a Framework that the community builders and adapt and grow to their own needs.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

Monthly Reporting of project status is a requirement.

We will update the community at the Project Catalyst After Town Halls, Swarm events and Community Zoom meetings.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

An Front End development software product that meets the Communities needs will be evaluated and selected.

An Database Product that meets the Communities Needs will be evaluated and selected.

A Framework - A Functional Front End Design and Data Model will be completed.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is a New Project
