Detailed Plan

The app is a decentralized framework to allow anonymous users the ability to flag corruption issues within any organization or government. Aside of publicly announcing the issue anonymously, people can volunteer to form campaigns around corruption issues within a few clicks. Once a campaign is created, people can join the campaign or fund it with cryptocurrency. Funds get disbursed across execution of smart tasks based on a funding allocation vote of volunteers who joined a campaign.

While identities are by default, and can remain anonymous, identity history as far as projects an identity volunteered on is not. In this way, identities on the app build up social credit/value when the community successfully marks an issue as resolved that they volunteered on, or, when the identity completes smart tasks they volunteered to complete.

Identities get a multiplier in fund disbursement votes based on social credit/value, which prevents an organization or government from flooding a campaign and misdirecting funds.

Funds cannot be allocated to arbitrary purposes or to pay anonymous entities, instead funds are only able to be used in smart tasks, of which, only certain pre-authorized entities can be paid, which are not an attractive destination to further corrupt. For example, funds can be disbursed to conduct official inquiries, sent to pre-authorized think-tanks, international organizations, paid to cloud platforms to send out mailings or perform other intensive cloud functions, and only after these organizations publically attest on the app that they will use the funds as intended and a smart contract is put in place.

Direction of project so far

  • Created a non-profit 503c to handle funding.
  • Started gathering a board of directors.
  • Acquired 70+ volunteers to engineer the app, help with a public website furthering the idea, and to start the app with genesis campaigns to build the initial social credit/value needed to disburse further funds.
  • Started a slack group. Created a repo on github. Created full application mocks. UI and backend is roughly 75% complete.
  • Started paying engineers to complete more complex parts of the application. Ran out of personal funds.
  • I developed a smart content system at a startup that I would like to convert to smart tasks that campaign managers can quickly issue to really improve the overall effectiveness of the crowd sourcing aspect of campaigns.

Now that Cardano allows smart contracts, the speed and gas fees issues on Etherium are resolving themselves, and we want to revisit the initial intention of making the app itself decentralized so a government or other entity cannot disrupt, disable or silence people flagging corruptive behavior or issues, or take down the app itself.

Definition of Success

  • 3 months: Launch the app via traditional cloud services without seed campaigns, smart tasks or blockchain support. Complete CI/CD processes for dev/stg/prod. Complete QA testing process. Complete organizational processes on GitHub. Make source code fully and freely available on GitHUb under the MIT license.
  • 6 months: Move the campaign system to Cardano, complete smart tasks. Complete single page intro to concepts and documentation supporting the app.
  • 9 months: Get letters of support from at least 12 NGOs, 5 universities and 2 think tanks that are committed to end corruption. Complete board of directors. Complete a full website linking related research, NGOs, universities and think tanks participating. Reach out to media outlets to get the word out.
  • 12 months: Cardano smart contracts in place to handle fund disbursement. Open Source smart tasks platform. Begin work on plugin system to allow the expansion and growth of the platform.

**Expected Public Launch Date:**4/15/2022

Broken down budget requirements

  1. $22,650 - Paying 3rd parties to complete more complex aspects of remaining engineering needed in GitHub repo via code bounty platforms.

  2. $18,000 - Paying a 3rd party to contribute Cardano smart contract integration of smart task fund disbursement.

  3. $9,000 - Paying a grant writer and a project manager to submit 2 additional grant proposals to help further fund the project via the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation & the NIH.

  4. $7,500 - Paying 3rd parties to convert smart content blocks to smart tasks.

  5. $3,696 - Funding for 1 year of GCP cloud hosting of up to ~25k active realtime users/~2m registered users ($116/mo for 3-pod K8S cluster, $174/mo for database and storage expectations, $18/mo for CDN).

  6. $1,200 - Misc. costs, including documentation website hosting, project management software, organizational email accounts, storage, misc. software fees. ($100/mo)
