We propose to create the SPO Impact Measurement Tool with our Proof of Impact Platform. A comprehensive tool to track and trace a SPO's impact. This will help capture and showcase the positive impact generated by the SPOs running and securing the Cardano ecosystem.

Measuring the Impact of SPOs

We have been developing an Impact Measurement model for a few funds now. Within the last two years we have been able to partner with ecosystem projects and non blockchain projects. This has allowed us to find new opportunities and ways of collaborating with specific teams. We are currently at a point where we have the key partnerships and ecosystem support where we are able to take the next steps to develop the Impact Measurement Tool via the Proof of Impact Platform.

Our vision is to create a service for Cardano ADA holders to better understand and measure the impact of SPOs through the impact measurement tool. The overarching goal is to create this tool that measures an NGO or impact Association's work, and extend the service to evaluate SPOs impact.

The tool will be a valuable asset todiverse multisectoral stakeholders, ranging from investors and SPO delegators, and project supporters. The tool will support in enabling greater transparency and trust for the companies and SPOs building on Cardano.

The Proof of Impact Platform extending into measuring SPOs Impact enables a new level of trust for ADA holders. This is a tool that will bring lots of value to the Cardano community, and greater blockchain space. This tool also has the opportunity to onboard many new people into the blockchain and crypto ecosystem, but specifically the Cardano blockchain.

Tracking the impact of SPOs in the Cardano ecosystem is something the community doesn't easily have access to, nor is it something currently being done in the wider web3 ecosystem with stakepools and protocols that have staking.

It is hard to follow and track the impact of a stake pool and those ADA holders are supporting through delegation. Sustainable ADA are taking the next steps to help community members track and trace the impact of SPOs building on Cardano.

To create a strong impact measurement platform via Proof of Impact Platform (PIP) we plan to finalize the development of our model for impact measurement. We will do this following past research with the impact measurement tool, and by extending the research to focus on the impact of our Cardano community SPOs. This integration to the platform will give ecosystem stakeholders the opportunity to have insights into the impact of their delegation and the contributions they are having on the world and people around them.

Continue the development of the impact measurement tool from our funded proposal in fund 7 the ‘Impact Measurement Tool’ (https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/383628). We will be building PIP the Proof of Impact Platform to turn all of our past research into a working product for businesses and projects wanting to track, trace and prove their impact.

Key Details from our Research:

From our evaluation of impact reporting mechanisms we found the following template to be most suitable. The main reason is that this framework will help to define clear, simple and measurable KPIs based on each project’s activities. We foresee its usage helping proposers and project managers clearly define their proposal’s/project’s impact from the outset, and take the necessary steps in measuring it.

Our team proposes to continue to develop an Impact Measurements Tool with the support of this completed research, and a fund 10 proposal. We aim to develop a tool/add capacity to the SDG Proposer Tool we have been building, that can be used by all as a free, open access tool, with a particular focus on usage by Proposal/Impact Mentors for instance. In effect the tool can be used to facilitate consultation services with a proposer/team as a service, and help clearly define and communicate impact in understandable terms to multi stakeholder audiences. The tool will be adjusted also for blockchain related projects taking into account for example new models such as DAOs and tokenization.

Impact measurement and verification for SPOs, and impact companies

We will take the first steps in providing a valuable service to stakeholders such as ADA holders and delegators, and impact investors by measuring the impact of 10 SPOs with a mission centered around the impact they are having in the real world.

• Collaborate with 10 SPOs to evaluate their impact

(Ex. CO2POOL, ECO Pool, SHIFT, Goma SPO, GAIA Stake Pool…)

Creating an evaluation model to track Stake Pool Operators' impact and how they are helping make Cardano the Blockchain4Good. Showing both the pros, and cons on how they are impacting the environment, and if they are trying to offset their footprint or work toward social change.

With the support of the Cardano community it will allow us to continue the development of the model found in the Impact Measurement Tool whitepaper. This will allow us to finalize the structure of the Impact measurement tool and start the next steps of the process where we plan to track and trace the impact of SPOs on Cardano and use the research to finalize a model and create the impact measurement tool.

We will conduct the research to find the optimal way to measure a SPOs impact.

By evaluating these first 10 SPOs it will allow us to make changes to our solution and develop the tool aiming to capture the most impact of the organizations. This will allow us to provide an elegant solution before we publicly launch this tool to the wider community.

Our service will have an impact on the Cardano community and stake pool delegators already a part of or entering the Cardano ecosystem. For instance, community members who want to make sure the pool they delegate to and support is working towards positive change and creating a good impact on their communities, and the planet, will find this initiative helpful.

The proposed solution directly addresses the challenge by focusing on measuring and tracking the impact of SPOs in the Cardano ecosystem. It aims to fill the gap in accessing and evaluating the impact of SPOs, allowing stakeholders and investors to make informed decisions when supporting or delegating to SPOs. The Impact Measurement Tool within the Proof of Impact Platform will provide a comprehensive framework to assess and verify the impact generated by SPOs, enabling greater transparency, accountability, and understanding of their impact on the Cardano community both socially and environmentally.

• Onboarding New Participants: The Impact Measurement Tool, along with the Cardano Impact Report, aims to inspire individuals, organizations, and projects to adopt a "Proof of Impact" mindset. With Proof of Impact data on SPOs we can take this a step further. This can attract new participants to the Cardano ecosystem who are motivated to create positive change and contribute to sustainable development goals.

Our solution helps bridge the gap in measuring and evaluating the impact of SPOs in the Cardano ecosystem. It brings transparency, accountability, and trust while aligning with Cardano's values and attracting stakeholders who value sustainability and social impact.

By empowering delegators and highlighting the positive contributions of SPOs, the solution strengthens the Cardano community and fosters a vibrant and impactful blockchain ecosystem.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

We will be looking to measure the following KPIs:

• number of of SPOs onboarded to collaborate
• number of community members using this tool to measure SPO impact
• number of SPOs who submit data

We will show success by addressing and tackling the pain points of the impact ecosystem with the Impact Measurement tool and PIP, expanding it to the SPOs operating on Cardano. The service is based around the tracking of impact and providing financial attractiveness to impact projects. Our impact oriented solution will help bring more visibility of the impact of companies building around Cardano and will act as a standard for evaluating the impact of blockchain based companies.

Success for this challenge:

We will demonstrate success by creating the impact measurement tool of SPOs as an extension to PIP.

We will start with evaluating 10 impact focused SPOs to help increase transparency and traceability of the impact generated by these specific stake pools. These will be the first steps into publicly releasing a tool to evaluate SPO impact by conducting research to follow through with our goals.

From this evaluation of initial pool of SPOs, we will be able to test the tool and make necessary adjustements to the impact measurement tool. We can then publicly share the information garnered on these first SPOs.

We will then be making this tool accessible to all the SPOs operating on Cardano.

We plan to share updates for each milestone's completion through our social channels and our website. We will also give updates on the KPI to help the community have a simple way to track our outputs.

KPIs:

• Number of POC trials that can be run with impact-oriented projects

We will measure the number of proof of concept trials with our first 10 SPOs evaluated

• Time required to validate the impact value

We will do this by tracking the time it takes to evaluate each SPOs impact and the differences between the stake pools

• How much financial value can be derived from impact-oriented projects

We will show this by comparing the delegated ADA value in a stake pool to their actual impact evaluated with the impact measurement tool.

Catalyst Journey:

We joined Project Catalyst, Cardano’s decentralized innovation fund, during fund 4. After applying and learning from both funds 4 and 5 along with lots of support from Cardano community members and teams, we were able to construct a strong proposal together that focused on our goals and ambitions for Sustainable ADA, and the Cardano community’s goals. We submitted a proposal focused on helping Grow Cardano, and Grow Africa.

With this funding, we had more capacity to focus on researching and sharing stories from change-makers in Africa and the diaspora, who are engaging with Cardano, creating a better tomorrow, today.

Thanks to the Cardano community and the use of their voting power from holding and staking ADA, we successfully secured the funding we were seeking. This helped us to take significant steps towards fulfilling our vision and mission having secured these crucial and helpful funds.

The cost of the project represents value for money as it enables the creation of the Impact Measurements Tool for SPOs. In turn, we will be able to bring groundbreaking tools to the Cardano ecosystem and bring more visibility and recognition of impactful stakepools building on Cardano. By investing in Sustainable ADA, and its umbrella of products and services. The community will gain access to valuable insights, collaboration opportunities, and inspiration to drive positive change.

The costs are justified and a modest ask given the average salaries for a graduate, and postgraduate researcher and Teacher in our sectors, and given our track record in and out of the Cardano community to date based out of USA (Salt Lake City), and western Europe (London and Paris).
