We have had several communications with our partners and are reviewing the methodology work we have been doing together. We just received new feedback from the Pond Foundation and will go through that over the next month.
We have been in the process to connect with more experienced partners that do understand both blockchain and carbon accounting and currently arrange workshops for wider discussions about the methodology. We are also engaging in more conversation with our partner company to clarify deliverables to bring the project back on track.
We have continued to work on the research to define the scope of the Cardano Carbon Footprint as well as written an input report to our partners - The Pond Foundation (https://thepondfoundation.org) - to continue their work. We are now also transferring the second payment (of three) to our partners for their work on verifying our research and input into the methodology.
Furthermore, we have participated in a GDF (https://www.gdf.io) workshop in London entitled 'Methodologies for understanding climate impact' in London on the 15 September 2022 as per request from the Cardano Foundation. We were the representative for Cardano in a workshop of 20 organisations including PayPal. We have provided some input into the workshop and noted how important our work is for various organisation that have to report emissions related to blockchain. Workshop agenda attached to this report.
We have also presented questions and progress of this work in the EU townhall and had a meeting with researcher Michele Soavi from ImpactScope (https://impactscope.com) to further discuss about the methodology of carbon accounting.
Overall we have had several fruitful connections and our current research has been submitted to the Pond Foundation for review. We are closer to our goal of developing a transparent and verifiable methodology to report the Cardano Carbon Footprint.
Although we are not on track time wise, but we are making progress on developing the scope of the Cardano Carbon emissions, and have developed part of the methodology.
So far we are working both methodological (with carbon footprinting partner The Pond Foundation) and technical work (engaging a developer and doing initial technology selection evaluations in docker containers). This is progressing slowly, but the uploaded presentation is currently used to discuss and refine the essential Cardano layers and whether or not they are included into the Cardano Carbon Footprint. Progress is a bit slower than we hoped as we try to define the essentials with the community. Our gitlab repo is at https://gitlab.com/shift-to-positive/cardano-carbon-footprint

These are challenging times :( but we're still plugging away at it :)
We are making progress on the Carbon Footprint in terms of our pools understanding about Carbon Footprinting and its standards is increasing and our partner organisation, The Pond Foundation, is learning more about Cardano. We are currently planning a first public event to discuss essential Cardano components with the Cardano community on 1st of June.
We continue to work with our carbon footprinting partner 'The Pond Foundation' on the methodology for blockchain carbon footprinting. An initial draft document is in the works. More work on our gitlab repository is planned based on the outcome of the methodology work.
