[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Image file

Initially focused on Argentina and LATAM, but… they found us!

How many countries are working with us?

Token MITHR present on 3 continents: Currently, we have volunteers in several countries, including Taiwan, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina.

MITHR was created to make investing in nature reliable and simple. MITHR is a data-driven restorative platform that connects nature-based solutions with mission-driven businesses ready to lead the restorative economy, rewarding users and companies through various methods such as the delivery of MITHR tokens, NFTs, blockchain-validated certificates, asset tokenization, and more.

With on-the-ground monitoring and data verification and storage through blockchain technology, MITHR enhances transparency and trust through data and tools that revitalize ecosystems, strengthen communities, and create climate solutions. We scale consumer-centric programs among planting organizations and corporations worldwide. MITHR’s mission is to restore the planet by planting and verifying one billion trees in a decade. For more information, please visit https://mithr.io

Who your project will engage, what do we want and what do we do?

Our projects not only focus on carbon, but also address nature, biodiversity, and community well-being.

We enable businesses to integrate verified restorative actions into their business models. Our technology brings transparency throughout the life cycle of restoration projects, connects these projects with mission-aligned corporate partners, and ensures that the ongoing impacts of the projects are authentic and reported. Our platform provides these corporate partners with unique digital experiences for their customers to showcase the size and scope of their global restorative impact.

Our solutions are designed to harness the power of businesses and individuals to scale the restorative economy.

Unlike other existing solutions, we also target everyday people in small towns and cities where the scarcity of vegetation makes it more necessary than ever to plant, whether it’s small potted plants or large trees. This can be done internally in family homes or externally in houses, streets, and places where “the concrete jungle” prevails, and it is necessary to obtain more oxygen and capture more CO2.

We help by transforming impact verification with the power of blockchain! 🚀

Why blockchain? Well, it’s all about security and transparency. ⛓️

Once verified, our evidence records are stored on blockchain, ensuring they’re secure and can’t be tampered with. It’s like a digital vault for our valuable impact data! 🔐

Blockchain also allows us to create a unique digital object, like an NFT, along with the evidence records. ✨

This means we can track the ownership and quantify the impact transparently over time. Each allocation is traceable, preventing any double counting. 🔄

How we will demonstrate or prove our impact?

We work closely with our planting partners to ensure that restorative actions are real, reliable, uniquely claimed, and function as intended.

  • Tokenization of trees, plants, and specific achievements (e.g., energy consumption reduction, water conservation, etc.)
  • NFTs for fundraising for reforestation
  • NFTs for awards and recognition (e.g., for those who have planted the most trees)
  • Displaying a reforestation map and various impact data on the blockchain through a dashboard, along with evidence of reforestation and participation as NFTs with data validated by competent authorities, such as geolocation data, names, images, date, and time of completed work, etc.
  • We provide on-the-ground visibility through technology
  • We verify, digitize, and store your impact using blockchain, including photos and videos on IPFS and NFTs
  • Complete transparency to eliminate the risk of double accounting.

Now, we have all of this mentioned above in the Spanish language, as we initially started in Argentina and Latin America, as already mentioned. However, the idea is to launch our website and services worldwide, and for that, we need to begin by translating our website into English, Portuguese, and French for now. Later on, more translations will be added over time. We also need to have human resources that can post news on social media in different languages to expand our reach.

We want to reach to the world! because of that, we need to create a lot of content in more languages and our community managers will send “the message to the world”.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

Our project brings to the Cardano ecosystem a lot of benefits:

  • Adoption, now just for common users, for young people from schools!
  • LATAM inclusion in Cardano (we started in Argentina and LATAM; but currently are already helping two places in Africa as well)
  • Financial and Environmental Education
  • Help the ecosystem world, not just the cardano ecosystem, all over the world
  • much more!…

Image file

To address the challenge, our aim is to:

  • Partner with leading planting organizations worldwide to unlock financing and provide evidence-based verification.

  • Reach out to business partners and planting partners, driving online advertising based on environmental actions.

  • Provide brands with easy ways to take action for nature and the climate by planting real and verified trees.

  • Reach the common people for being part of this eco-revolution with small tasks and rewards, creating adoption and reaching a microeconomy

  • We believe that by harnessing the power of businesses, we can restore the planet.

  • Restorative Commerce

  • Restorative Activation

  • Restorative Workforce

RESTORATIVE COMMERCE:

Linking restorative action to commerce

Actions you can take:

• Plant a tree for every product or transaction

• Invest 1% in restorative actions

• Plant a tree per dollar value as part of a customer loyalty program

• Provide an option for consumers to add trees to their shopping cart at checkout

RESTORATIVE ACTIVATION:

Linking restorative action to a specific event

Actions you can take:

• Make a pledge on Earth Day

• Plant a tree for every event registration

• Link a restorative action to a product launch

• Plant a tree for event attendees

RESTORATIVE WORKFORCE:

Linking restorative action to your workforce

Actions you can take:

• Offer your staff the gift of a restorative future. Plant trees for each of your employees through a subscription.

• Celebrate employee milestones through verified restorative actions.

We want to integrate restorative solutions into any business model, facilitating partners’ access to credible, verifiable, and real-time impact data.

We aim to provide a variety of assets and resources and regularly follow up with clients to provide updates and assistance when needed. We aim to grow organically over time and find unique synergy with partners based on our efforts to take climate action and create creative solutions that can play a vital role in disruptive industries.

To achieve the aforementioned goals, we must act as a bridge between companies, the individuals hired to work on reforestation, and the end-users to generate a microeconomy based on partnerships with partners to generate and expand sustainable initiatives. We will provide verified solutions and actions to restore ecosystems, create employment opportunities, promote brands through the advertising and press generated by ecological actions, help address climate change, and generate microeconomies in local and global communities.

We will track the species planted over time, recording all necessary data on the blockchain. We won’t just record the start and leave it at that without verifying their proper growth over time. The process would be similar to the following:

Verify and monitor impacts of tree planting to ensure visibility and accountability for climate actions

01. Manage

Our tree planting partners manage their network of restorative projects, data, and evidence through our web-based dashboard. This includes site management, user administration, data collection requirements, and more.

02. Collect

In collaboration with our tree planting partners, we collect data and evidence from multiple sources throughout the life cycle of a restoration project.

03. Verify

We take this data and compare it against established standards. We verify that the data is complete, consistent, and accurate to ensure that trees are not double-counted and that each tree is incremental.

04. Publish

Once verified, the impact data is published on a public blockchain. This enforces traceability, transparency, and ensures that the data and evidence remain unchanged and unaltered.

05. Engage

Companies can monitor, visualize, and share their verified trees and associated impact to continuously engage and delight their community through our platform.

The Product and the impact

Our token already has a direct impact in Latin America and the world, as well as the NFT’s utility, and both are coordinated between volunteers, the Cardano community, and MITHR Token.

But it will not only have an impact on the planet ecosystem, social and economic aspects, but also on education and scientific research.

To achieve an expansion of the use of the MITHR token, the platform must optimize its usability and functionalities, be multilingual , and of course we need to create the MIHT POP (Proof of Participation).

THE VISION AND MISSION

Frequently Asked Questions:

How does MITHR ensure that the planted trees are protected?

MITHR goes beyond simply providing funding. We work closely with local communities to showcase the immense value that newly planted forests bring to their families. Through education and involving them in the monitoring and reporting process, we find that local communities quickly develop a deep sense of ownership and pride in their trees, leading to effective long-term management that keeps the forests not only alive but also thriving.

Where does MITHR plant trees?

MITHR works with planting organizations worldwide to verify their restorative actions. We have an Impact Portfolio to see a breakdown of the locations and types of projects we partner with. The MITHR platform was built to be easily utilized by any planting organization seeking to develop, operate, and scale high-quality nature-based solutions projects. Our ground-level monitoring tools enable any planting organization anywhere in the world to scale nature-based solutions and allocate their trees to corporate partners and donors.

Why did we create MITHR?

MITHR was created to make investing in nature reliable and simple. MITHR is a data-driven restorative platform that connects nature-based solutions with mission-driven businesses ready to lead the restorative economy, rewarding users and companies with different methods such as delivering MITHR TOKEN, NFTs, certificates, etc.

Through on-the-ground monitoring and verification and data storage via blockchain technology, MITHR enhances transparency and trust through data and tools that revitalize ecosystems, empower communities, and create climate solutions. We scale consumer-focused programs across planting organizations and corporations worldwide. MITHR’s mission is to restore the planet by planting and verifying one billion trees in a decade. For more information, visit mithr.io.

Is MITHR a nonprofit organization?

MITHR is a for-profit company, but we are HIGHLY COMMITTED to Corporate Social Responsibility. We work with volunteers and planting organizations worldwide to fund the purchase of seeds, operate nurseries, carry out planting work, provide training to local farmers, and protect the planting site to ensure a high survival rate.

What are nature-based solutions?

‘Nature-based solutions’ is a technical term that simply describes an action that results in avoiding deforestation or improving a carbon sink through reforestation or ecosystem restoration. According to analysis by the World Economic Forum and McKinsey, nature-based solutions are a cost-effective means to achieve up to one-third of the emissions reduction needed by 2030 as part of the net-zero transition to achieve a 2-degree trajectory. Additionally, investment in nature-based solutions, when done well, can accrue collateral benefits that help address other societal challenges while being good for business, people, and nature. However, when done poorly, the investment can do more harm than good.

How does MITHR ensure the permanence and additionality of its project portfolio?

Additionality and permanence are key to ensuring that we are truly making an impact (not just doing something that would have happened anyway) and that the impact we have is long-lasting. To ensure additionality, we collaborate with thousands of volunteers from different ecosystems in various countries, along with corporate partners and local planting partners, from tree ordering to tree planting and beyond, to ensure a continuous process that creates new carbon sinks that otherwise would not have been planted. To ensure permanence, MITHR collects on-the-ground monitoring to ensure the trees remain in the ground. Part of the funding for tree planting goes towards protection (against animal and human intervention), and remote sensing (e.g., satellite imagery) is gradually incorporated to monitor the long-term forest growth, which is currently being done for countries like Africa, who are currently working with us remotely (e.g., GOMA Stake Pool on Cardano).

WE WORK BASED ON CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility

Image file

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

We tell you about Mithrandir and Corporate Social Responsibility

To answer this, it seems appropriate to provide a brief timeline to understand how the concept has evolved from its creation in the mid-20th century to the present in the early twenty-something years of the 21st century. Specialists in the field, like Bernardo Kliksberg, tell us that there have been three distinguishable stages in the past 50 years.1

a) The selfish company: This was the predominant stage in the West in past decades, mainly in the 20th century. Companies focused on maximizing profits in the shortest possible time, disregarding their role towards society. Companies were accountable only to their shareholders.

b) The philanthropic company: In this stage, some donations were made to specific areas, and companies were accountable to their shareholders and actors involved in the production chain.

c) The Present-day Company: Companies are accountable to the general public, governments, individuals operating on social media networks. In short, the paradigm has shifted from previous perspectives. Therefore, we believe that a new stage must be added to these previous three, which is the result of modernization in human life brought about by the emergence of blockchain technology.

d) Blockchain technology: Corporate Social Responsibility in the capitalist social ethics of the 21st century.

In this fourth stage, we consider Corporate Social Responsibility to be of utmost importance in all existing projects and ecosystems and those that emerge. If companies included this as a motto in their White Papers and official websites, one could distinguish between projects like Terra Luna and excellent projects like Cardano. As the project progresses, they would be obligated to comply with guidelines and rules for social assistance, rather than solely pursuing indiscriminate profit without being accountable to the crypto society, as well as to various public and private organizations requesting such accountability.

Therefore, in this fourth stage, companies involved in blockchain technology and decentralized finance (DeFi) must possess the following basic qualities:

  1. Personnel policies that respect employees’ rights and promote their economic personal development.
  2. Transparency in their assets and a corporate or decentralized voting governance if it aligns with their initial constitution.
  3. Clear rules for token investors.
  4. Environmental care and protection, as well as for the various actors involved in the process.
  5. Support for blockchain organizations or projects that assist different socioeconomic spheres of human society.
  6. A unified global code of ethics for companies, regardless of whether they are from central capitalist countries or peripheral countries.

Why should CSR be present in Decentralized Finance projects?

Already in the early 21st century, in 2012, at the Davos Forum where 2,700 entrepreneurs, the richest people on Planet Earth, had gathered, the founder and director of the forum, Klaus Schwab, opened the speeches with the following statement:

“The current form of capitalism no longer fits into the world. We have failed to learn from the lessons of the 2009 crisis. A global transformation is urgent and must begin with the application of a new sense of social responsibility.”

a) Furthermore, since 2008, when the first mined Bitcoin began circulating, we can see that changes are always structural, even if actors from different parts of the system only see the tile they are standing on. Thus, we can say that cryptocurrencies (such as fungible or non-fungible tokens) come hand in hand with a shift in the capitalist system and, consequently, the rules of the business world. New ethical rules are emerging, a form of inclusive capitalism as we defined it in point d) in the timeline we created for CSR.

“d) Blockchain technology: Corporate Social Responsibility in the capitalist social ethics of the 21st century.”

However, we are not the only ones who have noticed this. In 2011, Mohamed El-Erian, the former president of the leading investment fund called PIMCO, stated in The New York Times, “The capitalist system has to move towards inclusive capitalism, create more jobs, and reduce excessive inequalities… You cannot have a good house in a rapidly deteriorating neighborhood. The credibility and fair functioning of the neighborhood matter greatly. Without that, the integrity of the capitalist system will weaken even more.” It is so true, coming from someone who knew how to do business. That is why, in this new phase of the capitalist system, CSR cannot be absent from the roadmap of different crypto projects.

From the perspective of Token Mithrandir, as a company involved in blockchain technology, we consider this part of corporate responsibility indispensable in the financial sector. We are committed to investors who trust in our project, as well as to the rest of society, who may not even be familiar with Token Mithrandir. Therefore, we believe that it is part of our plans to contribute to environmental conservation, generating value, both monetarily and socially. We will focus on environmental and social needs and challenges of our time, and based on these premises, we will make donations in order to combine business success with social progress in the historical moment in which we live and negotiate.

The Advancement of CSR in Decentralized Finance Projects:

There are cases in Ethereum where projects provide digital assets from their ecosystem as compensation for unemployed individuals, as well as projects in Cardano that involve implementing internet access in remote areas, constructing houses, and even environmental and species conservation efforts like gorillas and dogs. This write-up does not aim to describe all existing projects but only to mention these examples to show that Token Mithrandir is just one project among hundreds with the same philosophy stated in their White Papers. Token Mithrandir has chosen to adopt responsible business practices and daily openness to financial transparency within the laws of capitalism.

Exploring it in more detail:

Token Mithrandir will organize monthly events for technological and financial inclusion. For example, there will be a week when for every NFT sold from our collection, we will give away another NFT from our collection to someone who has not operated in the crypto world, so that they can get closer to the world of decentralized finance and have the chance to improve their financial well-being, not only through the value of the NFT but also by learning how to manage their digital financial assets.

Care for the personnel working at Token Mithrandir:

It is important to emphasize that we highly value the well-being of the human capital that sustains our company from various work perspectives. Whether these individuals are working voluntarily or as permanent employees, their contributions are essential to us. As the company starts generating significant income, it will be a priority for us to provide more than just decent wages to these individuals. Regarding gender equality, our professional anthropologist, Dominique Gromez, will ensure a balanced distribution of work between men and women. We believe that if women make up approximately half of the global population, they should also be equally represented in companies, and salaries should be fair and equal between men and women, without any distinction based solely on gender. We provide incentives to employees and volunteers by offering donations, notebooks, t-shirts, etc.

Financial Education Portal for Token MITHR Volunteers and whole the community:

Our website will be an information portal with central themes such as the adoption of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, talks and lectures in schools given by our volunteers, Environmental Education related to DeFi projects, Corporate Awareness on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the capitalism of the XXI century.

The MITHR token IS ALREADY TRADED ON THE “STOCK MARKET”, for the moment on the DEX of MINSWAP and MUESLISWAP. Therefore, where MITHR tokens purchased through the AMM platform can be traded, or through raffles, contests, DONATIONS; etc. Having our tokens allows us to pay our volunteers with our tokens that are already having a real utility in the business world of exchange of goods and services. We have already developed concrete cases and we continue to work in three countries; Argentina, Congo, and Venezuela. And we are working in these other countries that during this year we will do other actions of environmental and social impact such as; Colombia, Chile, Sierra Leone, Mexico, Bolivia and Peru. Examples of Environmental Impact Actions:

Image file

TO CARRY OUT THESE ACTIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WE DO IT IN THE FOLLOWING WAY? BUT FIRST LET’S LOOK AT THE SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE FOR WHY WE DO IT:

The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that can be sequestered and the amount of oxygen that is produced through afforestation depend on several factors, including the type of trees planted, the number of trees and the soil conditions. In order to obtain data on CO2 levels and the amount of oxygen produced by different species of trees so that the data can be entered into the blockchain on a reforestation basis, we will follow some general guidelines:

  1. CO2 sequestration capacity: Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere during photosynthesis and store carbon in the form of biomass. The amount of CO2 that can be sequestered varies according to tree species, tree age and growing conditions. In general, fast-growing trees tend to sequester more CO2 during their active growth phase. Some species known for their carbon sequestration capacity include eucalyptus, pine and oak.
  2. Oxygen production: During photosynthesis, trees release oxygen to the environment as a by-product. Approximately, it is estimated that a mature tree can produce between 100 and 250 kg of oxygen per year, but this varies depending on the species and environmental conditions.

As the carbon sequestration process is complex and subject to change over time, young trees tend to sequester more CO2 compared to mature trees, since their growth rate is higher. Once trees reach maturity, their ability to sequester CO2 decreases, so to obtain more accurate estimates for a specific location or tree species, we will consult specialized sources, and scientific studies by forestry and environmental experts. These sources can provide more updated and specific data for each particular case.

¿When will the trees be planted, and where will we plant them?

We work with a number of tree planting organizations located in different regions of the planet, where we are forging bodies of volunteers. Each planting site has different planting windows depending on the species being planted, the seasonality of the region, the size of the project and the capacity of the planting community, as well as the money available to our project for each planting plan. Tree planting began in November 2022 and continues to this day. Since we are privately financed, our planning never stopped in its social impact and environmental impact projects, We never stopped for lack of money for these actions, but we could make more environmental and therefore social impact if we had more funds available for these actions. On the other hand, more and more organizations are joining us from all over the world, for example, we saw Taiwan, Congo, Sierra Leone, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile.

TO CARRY OUT THESE SOCIAL IMPACT ACTIONS WE DO IT IN THE FOLLOWING WAY?

At this point we have work already planned and currently underway in countries such as Sierra Leone, Congo, Colombia and Mexico. In all cases, an effective way to raise funds was the creation of NFTs, with practical utility. Our NFTs reflect in a macro way, the different areas where the plantations were designed to be forested, and in other cases the actions of social impact, when they are creations of NFTs, to raise funds for Foundations that work with different social problems, ranging from malnutrition, diseases, or improve community or recreational spaces for children. Let’s see some of these works that we have been developing.

It is important to note that these values are only general estimates and may vary depending on multiple factors. Tree age, climate, soil quality and other environmental factors can influence the amount of CO2 captured and oxygen produced.

For example: Institutions and organizations dedicated to the study of the environment and forestry, Scientific platforms and databases, Consultation with forestry and environmental experts. In addition, some of our volunteers have degrees in environmental management such as Lucas Cariddi.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

We plan to expose measurable data and information based on the translation of already existing content from our website, platforms, social networks, info, Images & Video, etc… and we’ll show every month a report with changes applied.

  • Displaying a reforestation map and various impact data on the blockchain through a dashboard, along with evidence of reforestation and participation as NFTs with data validated by competent authorities, such as geolocation data, names, images, date and time of completed work, etc.

  • We provide on-the-ground visibility through technology

  • We verify, digitize, and store your impact using blockchain, including photos and videos on IPFS and NFTs

  • Complete transparency to eliminate the risk of double accounting

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

We will include KPIs to report progress and facilitate project monitoring

KPIs

  • Web site: slide deck, printed material of translation

  • Mobile app and Web-app to track the tree planting progress, communicate, and report the results of translation.

  • Transation of every content that we’ll expose in all social networks managed by MITHR.

  • Translation of Mobile app and Web-app to track the tree planting progress, communicate and report the results, which we try to improve by presenting a proposal here in Catlyst Fund10 called “**MITHR PoP - Rewarding Planet Care for LATAM & our Planet”**

We have been working on this project since November 2022 without any external funding (public or private) by creating a community of volunteers, fostering adoption, and building micro-economies. Our token is active and being traded on AMM (minswap), and we have been reforesting various locations around the world with over a hundred volunteers. As a long-term project, it is important to emphasize that the significant milestone of growing this project with our own funding should be taken into account. This means that if we don’t receive external funding at any point, the project would continue to function smoothly, following the established planning, roadmap, and initial vision without any disruption. However, if we do receive additional support, we could accelerate our growth and contribute even more brilliant ideas to expand the Cardano ecosystem and the MITHR token ecosystem. As a result, we would achieve the adoption of blockchain technology, the Cardano ecosystem, and the use of ADA and MITHR tokens on Cardano, while also contributing to the well-being of our planet. We would accomplish this by promoting environmental education and financial literacy.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

This Fund10 presentation incorporates as a first step the translation into English, French and Portuguese and the launch of a Proof of participation and payment integration, giving rewards with Tokens and NFTs and investment vehicle functions.

Catalyst is an ideal ecosystem for blockchain projects of which we feel an active part and in which we fully trust due to its type of organization and decision-making and for the quality and support of the community.

You will see us in future presentations to continue advancing in the MITHR + Cardano project to continue expanding solutions to improve the environmental care planet.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

We would like to introduce another application of blockchain technology to provide transparency, auditability, measurement, permanence in reforestation work. This will help the Cardano Community as well as the blockchain community understand more about how blockchain technologies can apply in the real world and also help the world fight climate change. We aim to plant several trees for the period from 2021-2025 in union with other organizations/companies. Because of that, we plan to translate a lot of content from Spanish to 3 different languages.
