Solution

Adopting Atala Prism will enable Goodwall to create an inclusive ID management tool, so youth can better access goods and services and all data will be collected formally and kept decentralized.

Problem:

Millions of youth around the world lack legally recognized identification or don’t have the ability to use it in the digital world.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

As users sign up to Goodwall, on any type of device, they are presented with a user-friendly front-end interface/app where they upload their credentials, a Digital ID is created automatically on the back-end. The front end is unified and gamified whilst the back-end of the identity feature is linked to the blockchain

Identity credentials are encrypted on the blockchain and only the owner of the data can grant access. Granted access would essentially be “read only”, no physical copy so we reduce the possibility of identity theft.

The use cases for the Digital ID are numerous:

  • It can be used to store users' qualifications, skills, interests, location etc. in one interface, making it easier to verify a candidate's education history and identity, creating a simpler admission process or hiring for new graduates.

  • It can used to validate the votes in the skill-verification system, e.g. when assigning the expert badge

  • It can be used to verify information, facts or posts originality, creating a safe social media environment

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

Goodwall´s mobile-first platform guides over 2 million youth aged 16 to 24 on their educational and career journeys, with 12% being in Africa. We want to equal the playing field by leveling up the current community in close to 10 African countries (both French and English) and with the support of our ecosystem of partners help youth maximize their potential and impact in society positively.

While many of our users don’t have a bank account, a laptop or sometimes even a traditional ID document, they do have a mobile phone and access to wifi, and an incentive to join the platform (e.g to participate in challenges and get monetary rewards for them). Thus, by adopting Atala Prism we can reach millions of youth around the world and help them reach the traditional institutions or organizations that would have been unreachable otherwise, but also for the organizations and institutions provide access to millions of undocumented youth.

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Budgeting issues - It is necessary to use our project scheduling tool, following the budgeting procedure, and make realistic assumptions to avoid cost overruns. The Atala Prism technology is still at early stages so we will need to coordinate closely the implementation to make sure it will be within the scope of the proposal .

Limited engagement of stakeholders - Goodwall will collaborate closely with the Cardano and Atala Prism teams as well as with Cardano Foundation (which we are already in contact with) in order to align on the use cases and implementation.

Lack of information or resistance by users- the Goodwall users might not understand the purpose of having a DID. We will provide a complete guide to our users when creating the DID’s, Goodwall has good experience with interacting with its users.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

Program Preparation:

  • Definition of requirements
  • Create user stories
  • Define proposed architecture
  • Design front end interface
  • Create marketing plan

Total time: 6 Weeks

Program Execution:

  • Build out smart contracts
  • Build front end connections
  • Build backend
  • E2E testing

Total time: 16 Weeks

  • Track number of users with a DID

  • Track the way users are using it

  • Execute marketing plan

  • Total time: 12 Weeks

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

  • 80 design hours @ 70/hr = $5,600

  • Design front end interface and UI

  • Execute marketing plan

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

A list of Goodwal’s management team members and their CV’s can be found here, but below are highlighted the colleagues on the tech team who will be taking the Atala Prism pioneer course and leading this project:

Michaela Usakova - Chief Product Manager // <https://www.linkedin.com/in/miusakov/>

Brian Nelson - Head of Technology // https://www.linkedin.com/in/bnelson365/

Zachary Taylor - Product Manager // <https://www.linkedin.com/in/zak-taylor-menendez/>

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Goodwall has already submitted proposals on Fund8, two of which are being funded. We aim to continue applying in the next funds with new ideas or with projects that are continuations of funded proposals.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

The key goal of the project is to have a use case for AtalaPrism DID tech into the operation of our company providing the DID to our next Gen network of users. The value of this to the ecosystems will include:

  1. Additional developers: Goodwall team trained to integrate Atala Prism (Atala Prism Pioneer Course)
  2. Goodwall team develops a tech roadmap including Atala Prism DID solution
  3. Goodwallers creating digital ids
  4. How many people now have a DID on Goodwall ?
  5. Use cases on how next generation are using DID on the Goodwall platform

Deliverables :

  • Integration of DID on Goodwall
  • Several tests of use cases
  • Training of Goodwall team on ATALA prism

A live dashboard will be set up in order for the team to track the success of the project and a full report will be given at the end of its implementation.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

In a rapidly changing environment and increasing digital economy, societies and economies are becoming more complex, interconnected and dynamic. Countries and communities are faced with the challenge of providing learning opportunities for the youth to develop lifelong learning and relevant skills to thrive and compete. With the help of Cardano´s blockchain technology we are able to provide young people without the proper documentation the ability to connect to learning and earning opportunities with universities, companies and organizations. Providing users with an inclusive and trusted digital ID system is fundamental to strengthening the transparency and efficiency and effectiveness to deliver users opportunities to fast track their careers. Being able to reliably and easily verify information is critical to empowering the community and motivating youth to learn and build relevant skills to have all the right tools to address global demands and maximize their potential. Most importantly using blockchain we are able to protect the users from any breaches and thefts giving the youth complete control and freedom to express and display themselves with no limitations or restrictions.

Goodwall will consider this project successful if:

  • It brings an impactful use case for Cardano with DID’s for next Gen social networks

  • Sees increased quality of existing products & integrations through suggested improvements that is supported by customer feedback or increased usage by the community.

  • With the adoption of the DID we see multiple Dapps that can be developed around credentials, micro entrepreneurship, and micro payments

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.
