[SOLUTION] Please describe your proposed solution

Our solution involves the organization of a Cardano-East Africa hackathon focused on raising awareness and creating educational content. Students from universities in the region will be invited to form teams and submit articles and videos on the theme “How can blockchain improve education?”. The best contributions will be selected by a jury to be presented to the community. This hackathon aims to promote the integration of Cardano blockchain technology into the education sector in East Africa, offering significant opportunities for improvement.

Perception of the problem :

Our perception of the problem lies in the observation of a lack of integration of Cardano blockchain technology in East Africa’s education sector. This limits the opportunities for educational improvement and innovation in the region. By organizing this hackathon, we aim to raise awareness of this issue and encourage students’ thinking and creativity to find innovative solutions.

We see the problem we are solving as an opportunity to improve education in East Africa through the integration of Cardano blockchain technology. Currently, there is a lack of use of blockchain in the region’s education sector, limiting opportunities for innovation and transformation. Our hackathon aims to raise awareness of these opportunities and encourage students to think critically about how blockchain can improve education, paving the way for innovative solutions and significant progress in the field.

Our proposed solution :

Our proposed solution is to organize a Cardano-East Africa hackathon focused on raising awareness and creating educational content. Students from universities in the region will be invited to form teams and submit articles and videos on the theme “How can blockchain improve education?”. The three best contributions will be selected by a jury to be presented to the community and receive ADA awards. This hackathon aims to promote the integration of Cardano blockchain technology into the education sector in East Africa, offering significant opportunities for improvement.

Organization of the Cardano-East Africa hackathon:

  • We will plan and organize a hackathon that will take place over a three-month period, with a clear and transparent process.
  • The event will be advertised at universities in the East Africa region and promoted via various communication channels, including social networks, campus posters and local media announcements.
  • Online workshops will be organized for potential participants to familiarize them with Cardano blockchain technology and prepare them to take part in the hackathon.

Team formation and submission of entries :

  • Students from universities in the region will be invited to form teams of two to five members.
  • Each team will submit a written article and a video on the theme “How can blockchain improve education?”.
  • Articles should be well-researched, argued and innovative, highlighting the potential benefits of using blockchain in the education sector.
  • Videos should be creative, engaging and informative, using visual aids and real-life examples to illustrate the ideas presented in the article.

Evaluation and selection of contributions:

  • A jury of blockchain, education and technology experts will evaluate the submitted contributions.
  • Evaluation criteria will include originality, relevance, quality of content and clarity of presentation.
  • The three best contributions will be selected by the jury and presented to the community at the closing hackathon event.

Awards and recognition :

  • Selected teams will receive ADA awards for their outstanding contributions.
  • The winning teams’ articles and videos will be promoted on the Updev Community platform, offering additional visibility and recognition to their achievements.

By organizing this hackathon, we aim to stimulate the thinking and creativity of students in the East African region around the integration of Cardano blockchain technology into the education sector. In this way, we hope to pave the way for significant improvements in education in the region, while promoting the adoption of Cardano blockchain.

Reasons for approaching the problem in this way :

  • Awareness-raising and education: Organizing a hackathon raises awareness of the integration of Cardano blockchain technology into education. It also provides an opportunity to educate students about the benefits and opportunities offered by blockchain in this field.
  • Creativity and innovation: By allowing students to form teams and submit articles and videos, we encourage creativity and innovation. This enables participants to think critically and come up with innovative ideas on how blockchain can improve education.
  • Participation and involvement: By involving students from universities in the East African region, we foster participation and community involvement. This creates a sense of ownership and responsibility within the community, strengthening the impact of the project.
  • Promoting Cardano adoption: By showcasing Cardano blockchain technology through this hackathon, we are helping to promote its adoption in the region. This strengthens Cardano’s visibility and paves the way for future collaborations and initiatives in the region.

Combining these elements, we believe this approach will enable us to achieve our goals of raising awareness, educating, innovating and promoting the adoption of Cardano blockchain in the East African education sector in an effective and impactful way.

Project target :

Our project will primarily target university students in the East African region. We are looking to engage young academic talent interested in blockchain technology, as well as those who are passionate about improving education. By encouraging student participation, we aim to create a dynamic and committed movement around the integration of Cardano blockchain technology into the education sector. In addition, our project could also be of interest to teachers, education professionals, blockchain developers and members of the Cardano community who wish to support and contribute to this initiative.

Demonstration of Impact:

  • Evaluation of contributions: We will evaluate the articles and videos submitted during the hackathon using objective criteria such as quality of content, relevance of ideas and creativity. The best contributions selected by a jury of experts will serve as proof of the project’s impact.
  • Participation rate: We will track the number of teams participating, the number of students involved and the level of engagement throughout the hackathon. A high participation rate will demonstrate the interest and commitment of the student community in our initiative.
  • Community feedback: We will solicit feedback and testimonials from participants, teachers and other stakeholders to assess the perceived impact of the hackathon on their understanding of blockchain and their vision of its potential in education.
  • Promotion of Cardano: We will track the engagement and reception of Cardano’s marketing initiatives that will be implemented as part of the hackathon. This will include tracking social networks, online interactions and media visibility generated by our outreach efforts.

Using these metrics, we will be able to effectively demonstrate the impact of our project on raising awareness of blockchain in education and promoting Cardano in the East African region.

Uniqueness of the project:

What makes our solution unique lies in several aspects:

[VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The cost of the project represents significant value for the Cardano ecosystem for several reasons. Firstly, the costs are justified by the expected outcomes, including raising community awareness and involvement in the education sector, as well as promoting the use of Cardano blockchain technology. Spending is also aligned with project objectives, such as promoting education, strengthening the community and expanding Cardano’s global footprint.

In determining costs, these were assessed taking into account the specific needs of each stage of the project, as well as the typical costs associated with running a hackathon and promoting educational projects. Costs were optimized to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining the quality of results.

As a result, the project costs represent a sound investment for the Cardano ecosystem, offering a tangible return on investment in the form of a more engaged educational community, increased awareness of blockchain technology and promotion of Cardano adoption in new areas and regions.

In addition, project costs are commensurate with average rates in our industry and labor costs in our country. We conducted a comparative analysis of average rates for professional services and labor costs in our region to ensure that our budget estimates are in line with market norms.

In addition, we weighed the costs against the expected benefits of the project. By investing in outreach, recruitment, selection and promotion of educational projects related to Cardano, we anticipate a significant impact on the adoption of blockchain technology in the region’s education sector. This prospect of return on investment justifies the costs involved in this project.

Finally, we have taken steps to optimize the use of resources and minimize non-essential expenditure, thus ensuring that every ADA spent is invested effectively to achieve the project’s objectives. As a result, we firmly believe that the project costs represent significant value for the Cardano ecosystem and are justified by the potential benefits they will bring to the community.
