[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.
Eternl v2: a modular Cardano light wallet.
We will completely overhaul the user interface, data structures, and syncing processes of Eternl to further optimize the user experience. This will make it easier to add new features and third party functionality.
While we will maintain the feature richness for professional users, a high priority will be placed on an easy onboarding process for new Cardano users, who will be presented with an improved user interface that highlights only the most basic wallet features.
[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.
Eternl is an easy-to-use, multi-platform wallet that expands the range of users interacting with Cardano blockchain services, e.g. dApps, games, DAOs, and more.
[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?
The only risk we see is the closure of Tastenkunst, the company behind Eternl. Our company was founded in 2008 and has a small but dedicated team of developers. Eternl accounts for only half of our business and the risk of the company closing is minimal.
[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.
We plan to use the funds from this proposal to pay developer salaries over a 6-month period.
This complete overhaul will be organized as an iterative process. All items listed below will be continuously evaluated. The most important tasks are:
+ definition of essential wallet information
+ definition of essential features/modules
+ redesign of the user interface
+ redefinition of the user flow
+ overhaul of all data structures
+ optimization of backend infrastructure and queries
During the process, we plan to organize closed beta tests with trusted pro users and crypto newcomers on all supported platforms:
+ Web: iOS, Android, Windows, macOS
+ Browser extension: Chromium based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Opera, Edge)
+ Mobile apps: iOS, Android
The result of this process will be the delivery of Eternl v2, a multi-platform Cardano light wallet.
[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.
The team currently consists of 4 core developers.
We plan to use the funds from this proposal to pay a part of the developer’s salaries over a period of 6 months.
[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.
The team consists of Tastenkunst GmbH employees as well as freelancers.
[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.
Finding a sustainable source of revenue is a high priority, so hopefully we won't have to rely on Catalyst to cover our operating costs in the future.
[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?
During the process, we plan to conduct user acceptance tests (UAT) with trusted pro users and crypto newcomers.
We will ask their opinion on how difficult it is to navigate the wallet, if all the features they are used to are present or whether the simple mode is easy to understand.
Another metric will be the actual and perceived sync time of the different sized wallets.
[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?
At the end of this process, we want an all-around better wallet experience:
Wallet creation needs to become less cumbersome and generally faster without sacrificing security. The code base should become smaller while implementing all current v1 features. Redesigning data structures and optimizing the backend infrastructure should result in faster sync times, especially for larger/older wallets. As blockchain data grows, the wallet should keep pace.
[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.
This is not a continuation of an old project.
