This proposal was approved and funded by the Cardano Community via Project F10: OSDE: Open Source Dev Ecosystem Catalyst funding round.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

GateKeeper is a ticketing admission system built on the Cardano blockchain. It allows users to gain admission to events via an NFT held in their wallet.GateKeeper was used to successfully allow entry to events at CNFTCon in Las Vegas in 2022.

This proposal seeks funding to add three new improvements to GateKeeper:

  • Reports: This feature would allow users to generate reports on who (which NFTs) is registered to attend an event, attendance records, and other event-related data.

  • Multi-Event Support: This feature would allow GateKeeper to be used for multiple events, with each event having its own set of participants and proposals.

  • UX/UI Refinement: This feature would improve the user interface and user experience of GateKeeper, making it easier to use for both event organizers and participants.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This solution meets the challenge goals in the areas of Improved Documentation and in building additional core infrastructure and common frameworks. This tooling allows any Cardano community member to utilize NFTs as tickets to live events. This feature set can drive higher volume of on chain activity, as well as encourage more community participation in events.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

This project will be successful if the three new improvements listed above are functional and included in the open source repository.

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

Outputs from this project will be shared directly on the GitHub repository.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

The community members involved in this project are longstanding and publicly available. Projects delivered previously by these community members include: Buffy Bot, cNFTcon (NFTxLV), GateKeeper, and more. We are well placed to continue developing for the Cardano community.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The main goals of this project are to add three additional improvements to the GateKeeper tooling. While using this tool it has become clear that these new features are important additions and the community will gain immediate access to these new tools once completed. We are confident in the ability to deliver these features and do not see any technical hurdles to their implementation at this time.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

The project will be completed in four milestones over a 6-month development cycle:

  • User Journey: This milestone will involve defining the user journey for the new features, including the steps that users will take to use them.

  • UX/UI: This milestone will involve designing and implementing the new user interface and user experience for the new features.

  • Sample Code Implementation (Testnet POC): This milestone will involve implementing the new features in sample code and testing them on the Cardano testnet.

  • Documentation: This milestone will involve writing documentation for the new features, including user guides, API documentation, and code comments.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please describe the deliverables, outputs and intended outcomes of each milestone.

User Journey: An Explainer video

UX/UI: A Figma Document

Sample Code Implementation: Updates to a pull request with new features.

Documentation: Documentation added that includes all new features.

Final Milestone: The new improvements implemented in the main branch.

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

We believe that providing easy-to-use open source tools to the Cardano community creates immense value. An approachable ticketing admission tool that anyone can implement on their own is valuable to the entire range of projects building in Web3.

Here are some specific examples of how this tool can benefit the Cardano ecosystem:

  • NFT based ticketing: This tool can be used to facilitate NFT based ticketing for events and other gatherings.
  • Community engagement: This tool can be used to engage the community in joining real time public events. This can help to build a stronger and more cohesive community.
  • Education and awareness: This tool can be used to educate the community about blockchain technology and its use in event ticketing. This can help to raise awareness of the potential benefits of these technologies and encourage more people to participate in the Cardano ecosystem.

We believe that this tool has the potential to make a significant impact on the Cardano ecosystem. We are excited to see how it is used to improve engagement and education in the community.
