Solution

We would like to build a public metadata oracles explorer, that will serve as a go-to place for the developers to learn more about oracles.

Problem:

As the number of metadata oracles grows, we're missing a single resource with overview and data about these oracles.

This proposal was approved and funded by the Cardano Community via Project F3: Developer Ecosystem Catalyst funding round.

Cardano metadata oracles (nut.link) are the first generation of oracles providing external data sources to the blockchain, that the developers can use.

As the number of metadata oracles grows, we're missing a single resource with overview and data about these oracles. As a first step, we would like to build a public metadata oracles explorer, that will serve as a go-to place for the developers to learn more about individual oracles, their operators and their metrics.

Deliverables

Within 2 months of receiving the funding, we would like to release a metadata oracles explorer, that will be providing developers and the general public at least the following data:

Oracle identification (name, description, web site, address) Data points provided by the oracle (currency tickers, weather data, random numbers, Ergo bridges…) Performance metrics about the oracles, posting frequency, divergence from other oracles Suggestion for funding cycles of oracles (how long can an oracle go with the current fuel)

This explorer will be open sourced.

Potential

After we have the initial version of this explorer and developers find it useful, we will ask for further funding to extend it with a data point marketplace. There, a developer could offer fuel funding for the oracle in exchange for providing specific data points from the number of pool operators (future pools).

We would love to upgrade it to a decentralized marketplace if Plutus features allow us to do so.

Relevant experience

We have experience with oracles on UTXO blockchains. We launched the first metadata oracle on Cardano, and we were the first community public oracle pool on Ergo blockchain.

Five Binaries is an infrastructure development company. We're Cardano pioneers - with the first Cardano block minted on an aeroplane, first stake pool on the ITN and the first Shelley transaction on the mainnet.

We are trusted by customers such as Emurgo, Trezor or Ergo Foundation. To get in touch or find more information about us, please visit https://fivebinaries.com/.

Budget

We estimate it will take us 50 engineering-hours to complete the deliverables and we plan to allocate three people to this project.

Our rate, which comprises of our engineers' salaries, infrastructure costs, office rent, accounting and taxes is 100 EUR per hour.

We pay our people well, because they are both skilled and exceptionally experienced in the industry. And last but not least, because we respect them and want them to feel good and appreciated while working on Cardano.
