Solution

Create a user-end verification mechanism that allows users to verify themselves enabling projects at events to focus on interacting with their community instead of scanning them.

Problem

Community member verification for live events is difficult and makes it hard for projects to share verified community member rewards

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Our proposed solution enables users to verify themselves in app based on a check-in mechanism that projects can use at an event or even as a token-gating mechanism for their own platform.

We will need to build 2 in-app features to implement this solution:

  • user app scanning functionality
  • event-based verification

The verification mechanism will be a two-step process for the user that will trigger some backend checks to verify their account. This information can be sent directly to projects for distributing rewards, whitelisting, air-drops and more.

Example use cases include community member verification at in-person events.

By building this solution, we will enable projects to verify community members for various different reasons but ultimately it is a proof of community mechanism that will verify people based on tokens they own.

The way that NFTPass works right now mitigates the risk of token sharing and multi-scanning of assets, which we completed in our first project proposal last year.

This will be done as an extension to the existing product we have developed and will streamline the verification process for users and will free up the attention of project teams because verification can be done automatically instead of manually.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

It will enable projects to verify community members as a gateway to rewards, special treats, afterparties, discounts, and more.

It will also increase the potential for real world adoption of NFT Tickets on Cardano by making the verification process automated rather than manual as it is in it’s current state.

With the successful completion of this proposal we will have a means to onboard millions of users to the Cardano blockchain through the adoption of NFT Tickets, which will help Cardano grow exponentially in ways other blockchains are struggling with right now.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

We will measure the success of this proposal by the number of projects we onboard at the upcoming events this year and next; for both community verification using our service, or forks of our open-source solution; and by the adoption of NFT Tickets by Cardano events.

This innovation will help the Cardano community grow in a more interactive direction, where projects and community members can create more interesting services based on verification of ownership.

It will enable us as a start-up to expand our ticketing service to create a better UX for events and help us grow the adoption of NFT ticketing solutions.

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

We will be running real-world tests as we roll out different features, aiming to release a new feature for each of the coming events on Cardano (tests already in place for RareEvo).

We will be sharing the outputs with monthly update videos posted to YouTube, as well as Medium articles detailing the results of each test.

With the development of this proposal, we will also be going after larger and larger events and venues to slowly adopt the NFT Ticketing standard and this key element of the UX is currently a sticking point for many industries and specific kinds of gated access, such as business passes \ gyms and more.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

Our team has already built the alpha version of the NftPass app, from blockchain integration to ui development, we have experience in mobile development, blockchain tools and backend development.

Paul is a full stack developer and has been working in the space for many years. He has been involved with a lot of projects and has been the go-to developer for Quintin and Theo.

With a strong team of experienced and successful individuals, our combined experience and skills will help us with everything from development to testing and expanding the business outside of crypto

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The main goal of this project is to provide a community verification tool for projects and businesses

We will validate this approach through real tests at in-person events starting with RareEvo this summer, and progressively rolling out improvements and scaling up tests through the other major Cardano events this year.

This will allow us to move towards more non-crypto related events next year and the big goal at the end of the line is for Cardano to be adopted as the standard for tickets and business passes globally

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

  • Develop standards for verification and data sharing
  • Design UI and create mockups of the workflow
  • Map out the backend functionality and systems

M2 - 1 Month:

  • Build out UI adding scanning functionality to the user end
  • Build backend services including:
  • blockchain queries
  • database records
  • user specific verification

M3 - 1 Month:

  • Integrate with an API to allow communication between front and back end systems
  • Test integration and data transfer and begin security checks

M4 - Ongoing until EOY ’23:

  • Conduct real world tests at cardano events
  • Finalise features and deploy to production app

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Rhys: Developer

Paul: Developer

Quintin: Sales & Project Management

Theo: Design, Animations & Marketing

Quazar: Marketing & Sales

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

This proposal will provide other projects on Cardano the ability to verify community members in person at events and on their own platforms, opening up the ability for them to provide community-verified rewards, special access to after-parties etc.

Opening up our services to the community and providing a public endpoint will enable projects to build their own services into their own platforms as well, allowing more projects to come up with their own unique use cases and implementations with a reduced cost and time to implement for them.

This will ultimately provide better UX offerings for the community members opening up more potential business opportunities and utility to already existing community projects

Building this solution will help Cardano integrate into the real world through NFT Tickets and Passes, becoming an integral part of modern infrastructure.
