私たちは日本のブロックチェーンEXPOをきっかけで集まり、エンジニアの仲間と話し合っている時にラズベリーパイ4のスペックの限界が近づいている現状を知りました。ラズベリーパイはとてもエコでSPOを費用面から支え、さらには消費電力がとても少なく世界の環境にも配慮し、エコで持続可能性なカルダノをさらにサポートする素晴らしいコンピュータです。このコンピュータでは2021年12月現在、前回の更新でほぼブロック生成ができなくなってしまいました。その現状を克服したいと思っています。VPS(レンタルサーバー)はSPOの負担が大きく、多くの委任が得られているステークプールならばコストの負担を賄える報酬が得られますが、小規模プールではコストを払うことができずにプール運営を辞めていくオペレータもいます。例えば、リレーノードの2つのうち1つをラズベリープロジェクトで開発したSPO専用のハードを使ったり、年間に1ブロックでも収益を得られるようなランニングコストの低いものが出来上がれば、世界に2021年12月現在約3000プールあるものがさらに数千、数万のプールを増やすことができ、カルダノエコシステムをハード面から増強することができます。私たちは2021年10月から4人でDAOを結成し、すでにプロジェクトは進んでおり、ボードの選定やスペックの検証、開発企業との打ち合わせを行っております。さらには私、ダウはこのプロジェクトを成功させてCardanoDAOの成功事例として世界に発信したいと思っております。そのため、メンバーはブロックチェーン開発者や組み込みのスペシャリストで構成しておりますが、ボランティアではなく、プロに払うには少額にはなりますが報酬を渡していきたいと思っております。そのため、4名の1年間の報酬も費用に含めております。
このプロジェクトはSPO専門のハードとして、16GBに増強し、ラズベリーパイ4で不要であったBluetoothなどを除き、消費電力を抑えたハードの試作機を完成させるのを目標に致します。
試作機が完成した後、どのようにハードをみなさまに届けるのか、開発を行い見定めていきます。

We got together at the Blockchain EXPO in Japan, and when we were discussing with fellow engineers, we learned that the limits of the specifications of Raspberry Pi 4 are approaching. The Raspberry Pi is a great computer that is very eco-friendly, supports SPO from a cost perspective, consumes very little power, is environmentally friendly, and further supports eco-friendly and sustainable Cardano. As of December 2021, this computer is almost unable to generate blocks in the last update. I want to overcome that situation. VPS (rental server) has a heavy burden on SPO, and if it is a stake pool that has a lot of mandates, you can get a reward that can cover the cost burden, but in a small pool you can not pay the cost and pool operation Some operators are leaving. For example, if one of the two relay nodes uses the SPO-dedicated hardware developed by the Raspberry Project, or if a low running cost that can generate profits even by one block per year is completed, it will be December 2021 in the world. What currently has about 3,000 pools can be expanded to thousands or tens of thousands of pools, further enhancing the Cardano ecosystem from a hardware perspective. We formed DAO with 4 people from October 2021, and the project is already in progress, we are selecting the board, verifying the specifications, and having a meeting with the development company. Furthermore, I, Dow, would like to make this project a success and send it to the world as a successful example of Cardano DAO. Therefore, the members are block chain developers and built-in specialists, but I would like to give a reward, although it is a small amount to pay to professionals, not volunteers. Therefore, the one-year remuneration for four people is included in the cost.

This project aims to complete a prototype of hardware with reduced power consumption, excluding Bluetooth, which was unnecessary for Raspberry Pi 4, by increasing it to 16GB as hardware specialized for SPO.

After the prototype is completed, we will develop and determine how to deliver the hardware to everyone.

Monthly Reports

As for the current progress, we are now in the process of designing the hardware and selecting a company. Regarding this progress, we exhibited at the Cardano booth at the Blockchain EXPO, which was attended by tens of thousands of people at Tokyo Big Sight. Five hardware specialists from the project also traveled to the venue to provide explanations as the project's exclusive explainers. The leader of the project, the DOW, gave a presentation on the project. A press release will be issued in the future. In addition, we are meeting with companies to discuss the project.The progress of the development had been affected because the CATALYST funds had not been received. This was due to the fact that we had inquired about it via email but did not know that we would report it in this manner. I believe that the funds will now be received and the development will proceed.

Our project requires a lot of money. Unless at least half of catalyst's funds are in our hands, it is difficult to contract with a company to develop hardware. The attached image shows a block diagram of the Linux board currently under development. This board will consist of a CPU module board and an expansion board. This time, we designed and ordered 2 board manufacturers who cooperated with our project, and produced 3 prototypes. Our x86 board has arrived.
