Solution

We will make a platform that allows users to keep track of events, twitter spaces, in person meetups, and other project developments within a single interface. This platform is called Cardano Calendar

Problem:

It has become nearly impossible to keep track of all the developments taking place for each project building on Cardano. How do users find out what's taking place?

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

What Are We Bringing To The Table?

The Cardano Calendar will provide the community with an inclusive resource to stay updated with all of the developments taking place within the ecosystem. There are so many projects that are currently being built, community members will have access to a platform that allows them to see everything taking place in an easy-to-use environment. Our reason for approaching this project this way is that social media is inefficient to provide all of the details for staying updated. With our platform, users can find any project they are looking for simply by selecting a few parameters. The Cardano Calendar is intended to engage the existing Cardano community and newcomers who are looking to learn more about a specific project or event. This platform will benefit the greater Cardano community as it will be inclusive to any project that is building in the ecosystem. The Cardano Calendar will be implemented as a web based interface that features events from various projects. The result of this implementation will be a resource for the Cardano community to sign up for events, twitter spaces, in-person meetups, and online events such as NFT drops and project launches. The outcome of this work will be that the Cardano Community has a trusted site where they can stay informed with the latest Cardano developments and share their favorite events with their networks.

Why Do We Need This?

Cardano has grown exponentially in the number of wallets, new users, and projects building within the ecosystem. It can be overwhelming to keep track of all the projects and events that are taking place and social media tends to be a cluster to navigate. With an open platform that's designed to include events from any project, Cardano community members will be able to easily stay updated with the latest happening.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

How Is This Solution Addressing The Challenge?

We are addressing the dApps, Products, and Integrations challenge by bringing more builders into the ecosystem and creating high-quality platforms built for the ecosystem. This proposal aligns with the Challenge category as it provides a resource to facilitate events taking place within the ecosystem. Many projects are building within the space and new users coming into the community need a way to stay updated with everything taking place. This will allow for a better experience for newcomers joining the community.

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Our team has accounted for multiple possibilities of potential setbacks. We are open to suggestions from the community on any additional risks and any mitigation strategies we should consider to increase the success of this project.

Risk:

  • Delay in development due to feature improvements which may be needed before launching the platform.

Solution:

  • We have formed a focus group in our community that will help us test implementations as we build the platform.

Risk:

  • Market volatility and ADA price volatility.

Solution:

  • Funds will be allocated to a transparent wallet and held as USDC or DJED stablecoin.

Risk:

  • Timeline goals are not met

Solution:

  • A clear outline of workflow has been created and is shared with every team member working on the project
  • The team has weekly meetings every Friday to discuss priorities of the week and goals for the current development sprint.

Risk:

  • Lack of understanding from users of how to use the platform

Solution:

  • We have addressed this issue by dedicating specific content that will walk users through the entire process of being able to interact with the platform.

Our team is dedicated to open communication and being inclusive and transparent with our community.

Long Term Vision

  • Cardano Calendar is a premiere platform supporting builders and innovators in the ecosystem. It allows projects to connect directly with their supporters and engage with them on a personal level.
  • Our aim is to create a one-stop platform that allows anyone in the Cardano Community to know who, what, when and where things are happening with any project that is building on Cardano.

Managing Workload

  • In addition to this proposal for the Cardano Calendar, the Kaizen Crypto team is submitting another 2 proposals for Fund 9. Our team is globally diverse, experienced, and resilient. Over 10 team members currently work across different timezones, and are connected to various networks and communities, which allows us to ensure we have a sustainable approach to managing our workload if we are to receive funding from Catalyst.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

The funding requested is needed to pay for the development budget of building the platform. We also need to cover the costs of marketing, educational materials, onboarding content, and platform maintenance.

Proposed Budget For Team Salary:

2 people full time on the development team at 2000 US$ per month = 48000 US$ in one year

With an average hourly rate of $60 USD an hour, this budget allows us to pay for front end, back end, and blockchain developers to build the platform.

One Time Expenses:

Platform Maintenance - $700

Server Hosting - $300

Proposed Budget For Education and Marketing:

Educational Videos - $500

Marketing - $500

TOTAL: $50,000

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

Pritesh Gosai - Kaizen Crypto

Pritesh is a long-time Cardano community member who has been contributing to the ecosystem since 2017. He began creating educational content for the Cardano ecosystem in 2019 and operated the Kaizen stakepool during the Incentivized Testnet. Since then, he has gone on to create one of the most well established brands in the Cardano community with a Youtube channel that has over 1M views and 30k subscribers. He operates several stakepools and contributes to charity in India with operator rewards from Krishna stakepool. [FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

If we are funded this round, we will have enough capital to complete the development of the platform. We will not return to Catalyst for further funding.

The beginning stages of the project were funded from personal capital of Pritesh (Kaizen Crypto). Our aim is to prove to the community that we are committed to the completion of the project.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

We will measure the growth of the platform by finding out how many unique visitors are coming to the site each week. We will measure it by checking the unique logins, and number of total events created. This will show us how many people are signing up to use the platform and are actively engaged with other users.

We will measure the user experience by collecting feedback from event creators and platform users. We will measure this by providing a survey to each user who interacts with the platform and giving them an opportunity to tell us what they like and don’t like. This will give us insight of how to make the platform better for all users.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

Success of this project would mean that the Cardano community has a trusted resource to find what events are taking place within the ecosystem. Over 10,000 users visit the platform and are able to sign up for notifications to receive the greatest benefit of using Cardano Calendar. Users feel excited to visit the platform and refer new members in the Cardano ecosystem with over 1000 new users signing up each month.

The success of this project would also mean this platform generates more engagement for events and allows event hosts to spread the word to a wider audience. The number of participants attending in-person events increases by 25% due to greater awareness.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This proposal is new and our team is excited to continue building on Cardano with the help of the community and Project Catalyst.

Completed tasks includes part 1 of creating an event, connecting wallet, Cardano wallet API integration, and authorization with email. To be completed include staging server, user profile, featured event page, and much more. The project is likely going to cost more than budget. Current funding releases are not enough for dev costs.
