[IMPACT]

Our objective is to:

  • Translate our products and documentation into Japanese
  • Promote these products and documentation to Japanese audiences
  • Continuously maintain and update Japanese language as our products and documentation evolve

Our audience is

  • Japanese people and businesses who wish to benefit from Self-Sovereign ID

The outputs will be

  • Translated Dash, App and documentation

The impact will be

  • Availability of an easy-to-use no-code SSI platform for Japanese Cardano community
  • Consequential growth in use of Atala PRISM (and, once integrated through other F8 proposals, Cardano smart contracts and ADA payments)

The challenge question is: How do we grow the Cardano ecosystem in East Asia in an inclusive and supportive way? The same way we do in Africa, focused initiatives!

Availability of translated materials makes it easier for local users to adopt Cardano products into their businesses and everyday lives.

Key metrics

  • The number of proposals originating from East Asian participants in Project Catalyst and the quantity and quality of funded proposals originating from East Asian teams: we hope to see new production projects being launched by Japanese speakers leveraging both the translated documentation and the no-code capability of the platform.

  • Did we increase the participation of the Cardano community and Catalyst teams with East Asian residents? The no-code platform may allow developers and project leaders to get onboarded faster to the point of production deployments while allowing them to allocate limited developer resources on other priorities.

  • Was there an increase in Daily/Monthly Active Wallets (DAW/MAW) as a proxy measure of momentum and engagement: we will record the number of Japanese language services and use cases going live in ProofSpace and conduct geography analysis of the number of App downloads, although we do not have a sign up process and we are blind to interactions between a user and the service provider, so cannot do strict analysis of daily/monthly active wallets in a geography.

  • Risk: Maintaining the translations after the initial project is complete.

  • Mitigation: We will mitigate this by including an additional budget to retain local translators for on-going translation services after the official completion of the project.

  • Risk: UI issues caused by long or complex words.

  • Mitigation: This happened with our german translation and our UX/UI lead was able to work with translator to paraphrase longer words.

[AUDITABILITY]

All deliverables will be communicated openly to the Catalyst community through existing community channels such as the monthly reporting process.

July

  • Shareable full beta version of translated documentation

August

  • Shareable script of product translations

September

  • Shareable product screenshots or, for existing ProofSpace users, availability of translations in production
  • Ideally, announcement of pilot or production partners utilizing translations

We will measure the project’s success according to the following criteria being met during and after the project’s completion:

  • Availability of an easy-to-use no-code SSI platform for Japanese Cardano community
  • Consequential growth in use of Atala PRISM (and, once integrated through other F8 proposals, Cardano smart contracts and ADA payments) - measured by number of production use cases using ProofSpace in Japanese.

This proposal builds on an F7 proposal entitled “No-Code SSI SaaS for Mass Adoption” (see https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/385204). Translation of the platform makes PRISM available to a broader audience.
