[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

Goodwall is a mobile-first personal and professional development platform with 2M+ members across 150+ countries that guides young people aged 16 to 24 years old through the world of education and work offering them access to equitable and inclusive opportunities. Our mission is to level the playing field for Gen Z, to help them maximize their potential and have a positive impact on society. Goodwall has hosted a number of wide-scale programs and challenges on the platform with a variety of different partners and significant impact.

Goodwall’s proposal to develop an educational program about blockchain and its applications for social impact targeting youth all over Africa is being funded by Cardano Catalyst on Fund 8. We would like to give continuity to this program by running one challenge and a hackathon format to identify the most influential youth in Africa to become Cardano Youth Ambassadors.

Goodwall works closely with youth to co-design and continuously adapt the platform and programs. A constant dialogue and collection of feedback is put in place through a series of means such as:

  • Dialogue with Goodwall’s Student Council, a group made entirely of youth that has both a consulting and advisory role in Goodwall’s governance and strategy;
  • Regular communication between Goodwall’s Community Management Team and young users on the platform through chats, pages and posting;
  • Focus groups held regularly and composed in order to provide a representative sample of the target audience; and
  • Post-program surveys to assess the performance and the impact achieved.

Through these different channels, youth that have taken part of the educational program will be able to join multiple challenges and a hackathon with the possibility of becoming a Cardano Youth Ambassador for four different themes:

  • Blockchain for Digital ID
  • Blockchain for Digital wallet
  • Blockchain for certification
  • Blockchain for community endorsement

African Youth will also have access to educational content, videos, speaker sessions etc, and Goodwall will engage youth to drive awareness of how blockchain can be used to drive social impact. This program will also prompt and incentivise Goodwall members to upload their own user generated content, describing their experiences with blockchain technology and what they have learned so far. Incentives include monetary prizes, access to further blockchain education courses, mentorships, etc, will be offered.

Our vision is to be the starting point for youth across the world who are looking to begin their blockchain journeys. Our long term vision for the next 6-12 months is to collect user generated content and educational videos on Cardano from different groups within the young community on Goodwall. This content will help to provide access to youth who are interested in blockchain technologies, looking to pursue a career in blockchain, or are young influencers looking to use disruptive technologies to start a business or to improve livelihood in their communities.

At the end of the program, the content will live on Goodwall forever, meaning that anyone, anywhere, can access the Cardano program on Goodwall. Goodwall will also create a case study landing page to highlight the successes of the program, and will also act as a tool to encourage other youth to get involved. The video content can also be exported to external platforms (user generated content will require permissions).

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

This solution will empower youth in Africa who are keen to learn about blockchain applications and opportunities and advocate for its use for a more decentralized future. Once African youth are able to think and implement different uses of blockchain and also to influence their communities, we will see a high number of youth who are more likely to have a fair livelihood. This mission fully reflects the goals of the ‘Grow Africa, Grow Cardano’ challenge, as well as it is in line with Sustainable Development Goals

The key objectives of this program are:

  • Select 5 ambassadors per theme (total of 20)

  • 1 million impressions

  • 30,000 engagements

  • 1,000 video entries

  • Participant feedback to be very positive towards Cardano & blockchain

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Lack of awareness and education - Goodwall will promote Cardano and the educational videos created both on app and externally through digital marketing.

Vague requirements - Proactively engage with the African Cardano community during the project planning phase to help understand the exact requirements and expectations.

Lack of engagement - Youth in Africa might be more eager to learn about other basic skills rather than about technology, but Goodwall has the expertise to design easy and appealing educational content for GenZ, as well as challenges with earning opportunities and prizes.

Budgeting issues - It is necessary to use our project scheduling tool, following the budgeting procedure, and make realistic assumptions to avoid cost overruns.

Limited engagement of stakeholders - Goodwall will collaborate closely with the Cardano community, inviting the community to engage with the project team directly.

Fake news - It’s important that we fact check everything before sharing content. This will be achieved through our community managers who monitor all posts.

Multiple languages in Africa - Goodwall international team is very used to work and produce content in multiple languages in-house or with a trusted translation agency.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

We have a team of different people working on the different proposals (funded or to be funded) according to their expertises. Goodwall is a growing company and is used to work on multiple projects in parallel as we have the team and collaborators to support it.

A list of relevant people on the management team and CV’s can be found here:

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Goodwall has already submitted proposals on Fund8, two of which are being funded. We aim to continue applying in the next funds with new ideas or with projects that are continuations of funded proposals.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

Goodwall works in full transparency and provides extensive reports based on the projects and objectives.

The key objectives of this program are:

  • Select 5 ambassadors per theme (total of 20)
  • 1 million impressions
  • 30,000 engagements
  • 1,000 video entries
  • Participant feedback to be very positive towards Cardano & blockchain

Key indicators:

  • Impressions - Impressions are defined as the number of times branded content has been displayed on screen.

  • Engagement - Engagement is defined as the number of times branded content has been liked/commented on Goodwall.

  • Challenge Entries - Challenge Entry is defined as an uploaded video or picture related to the program.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

Through different programs and survey, we have identified that African youth are very keen to learn digital skills in general and very enthusiast about adopting tech solutions to solve problems in their communities.

Given the above, success in this project will mean that we will be able to identify the young ambassadors for Cardano in Africa, who will act as influencers and advocate for the technology and its applications. We will measure success on three different aspects:

-Education: we aim to give continuity to our African program about blockchain (funded on Fund8) by making even more African youth educated about blockchain and interested in Cardano. This will be measured by the results on the survey and the quality of the submissions for the challenge and discussions on the hackathon.

- Live Dashboard: we will set up live dashboards to track the relevant data related to the survey and challenge, and will be developing constant analysis of whether the results are reaching the targets.

- New African youth applying on Cardano Catalyst: we are expecting around 300 new people being interested in Cardano and many of them submitting proposals on the upcoming funds.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

New proposal.
