Solution

Structure a DAO to promote rewards to help our community get involved in simple tasks and develop small projects to improve governance, thus developing a vision for this DAO.

Problem:

The Brazilian community needs a DAO to act independently on day-to-day pain points, as well as get a first glimpse of how to govern and engage as a DAO.

[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.

This proposal aims to build the first Brazilian Community DAO, promoting more participation and collaboration between community members through a bounty system.

The culture of collaboration is very important to pave the road for understanding the tools we need to build to get a 360 degree view of automation and coordination.

As a DAO under construction, we are committed to achieving the following goals:

  • Dealing with misinformation caused by media companies
  • Translating and adding subtitles to important videos from the ecosystem
  • Establishing bounties for proposal advisors to evaluate or guide a proposer
  • Having better artwork to illustrate some blockchain concepts and social media graphics for community engagement
  • Start the development of a basic tool for decision making based on NFT ownership.
  • Set up a store with ADA where we could sell Cardano products and re-invest in the DAO.

We also understand that these points are a baseline for us to start using the DAO as a tool to improve our community, but we need to reach a quorum of participants and leaders to think where this DAO could go, to develop a vision and to figure out how we’ll reach the next goals. This engagement will be identified over time.

[IMPACT] Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

This DAO will increase the number of community members engaged in collaboration using Cardano DAO tools, and it will increase the amount of ADA coming from DAOs transaction fees.

This DAO will use Cardano as a governance chain and also increase the number of DAO tools that are available when choosing DAO on Cardano.

We also understand collaboration is key for this challenge, and that's why I also recommending this proposal to help my proposal to be even more sustainable. So please take a look in this proposal too: https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/414261

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Risk

Low engagement and stagnation is a big problem. How can we grow the teams to execute more projects and to serve the community at same time without depending on Catalyst?

Solution

We probably will start with the community members we have around and expand it after we talk about the vision of this DAO. But we recognized that the challenge is more complex and difficult when we approach the DAO with a long term sustainability view.

Risk

Delays related to software implementation.

Solution

Today it is already hard to find a workforce to develop in Cardano. We’ll keep in contact with known builders in the ecosystem and ask if they can help us when they have some free time in their agenda.

Risk

Lack of opportunity in Catalyst challenges to renew a roadmap specifically for DAOs.

Solution

We’ll develop independent proposals to be managed by the DAO. This will also help to increase auditability.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

First Month

  • DAO Basic Setup
  • Coordinations tools (Dework)
  • Audit reports and spending with the Treasury Guild
  • Creation of a Calendar of Activities and budget
  • Start the bounty program

Second Month

  • Invite some engaged community members to form an initial board
  • Book coordination meetings to address new demands and review processes

Third Month

  • Development of the vision of the DAO

  • Setup the store to sell products

  • Scope the initial design for the governance NFT tool

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

First Month

  • Set up cost $2500 (Tools, configurations, domain, webstore)
  • Budget for bounties $1000
  • Budget for initial operational hours $1000

Second Month

  • Incentives for board formation $2500
  • Budget for bounties $1000
  • Budget for initial operational hours $1000

Third Month

  • Final DAO funds available for development $41000
  • Dealing with misinformation caused by media companies
  • Translating and adding subtitles to important videos from the ecosystem
  • Bounty for proposal advisors to evaluate or guide a proposer
  • Having better artwork to illustrate some blockchain concepts and social media graphics for community engagement
  • Start the development of a basic tool for decision making based on NFT ownership.
  • Set up a store with ADA where we could sell Cardano products and re-invest in the DAO.
  • Closing Report with board formation and initial vision for the DAO.

Initially operational hours will be set to $35/h until we reach a new consensus with the board of representatives.

[FEASIBILITY] Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

[FEASIBILITY] If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Definitely, we are aware that it will be hard to reach sustainability, but this is something that every DAO should have in mind: How to be profitable to some extent.

[AUDITABILITY] Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

We will integrate auditability tools created by the community, such as the treasury guild (to manage transactions and record it in an open manner), and Dework (to create a pipeline to track different stages and tasks).

In order to provide an easy way for the community to audit this project, we’ll establish a gitbook and provide its link in the Catalyst monthly reports.

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

DAO KPI

  • Number of different community members being incentivized by the DAO to execute a task
  • Number of products sold at the store
  • More than 50% of the budget spent on bounty tasks

Project KPI will follow our monthly report with the estimated production expected in the roadmap.

[AUDITABILITY] Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This proposal is an entirely new one.
